When Steve Higgs wrote his debut novel, Paranormal Nonsense, he was a captain in the British Army. He would like to pretend that he had one of those careers that must be blacked out and generally denied by the government, and that he has to change his name and move constantly because he is still on the watch list in several countries. In truth, though, he started out as a mechanic - not like Jason Statham in the film by that name, sneaking around as a hitman, but more like one of those sleazy guys who charges a fortune and keeps your car for a week even though the only thing you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.

At school, he was largely disinterested in all subjects except creative writing, for which he won his first prize at the age of ten. However, calling it the first prize he won suggests that there were other prizes, which is not the case. Awards may yet come, but in the meantime, he enjoys writing mystery and thriller novels and claims to have more than a hundred books forming a restless queue in his mind because they are desperate to be written.

Now retired from the military, he lives in southeast England with a duo of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, he doubts he'll ever leave, the beer is just too good.

Really enjoyed reading this series while traveling through airports, sitting poolside and waiting for tours. Thanks for making down time something to look forward to!

The stories are well written and the author has a marvelous imagination. The mentions of Anna the dachshund are so typical that I think the author has one. I, too, had a dachshund for 15 years. I enjoy the stories on land and think there is more flexibility than on the ship. I particularly enjoy Jermaine. If he drops out of the stories, so will I, so please keep him in.

This is an excellent series of well written, accurately described and enthralling stories, with well rounded, highly relatable characters, set against well described and accurate backgrounds, which because of my own knowledge of the specific area of Kent described in the final book made me feel I could trust that the details in the previous books were equally accurately described.

Another great series by Steve Higgs. Started reading Higgs with the Blue Moon Investigation series (21 books) and was introduced to a new author that can tell a great yarn that got me hooked on the story and excited about the next book and it’s wonderful characters. Humor, great stories and wonderful characters that keep you wanting more. Thank you Mr Higgs for sharing your gift of spinning a great yarn.

I love the characters, escapades & hilarious scenes created by this writer. It's funny that whenever Patricia speaks I see this English actress taking on the role. It seems to make each story funnier as I see her in action. Enjoyed the series very much. Thank you Mr Higgs.
