A Banshee and a Bookshop: Patricia Fisher Mystery Adventures Book 4 Kindle Edition
When an old school friend begs for her help, Patricia takes on a case more suited to her friend Tempest Michaels …
… a criminal dubbed ‘the banshee’ is attacking people in their homes and paralyzing them with its scream. The police believe it is a burglar with a unique twist, but Tempest seems to know differently.
The two teams join forces again, but this case will test them to their limits – how do you tackle a criminal who can paralyze you before you get to them? The answer is surprising, even to Patricia.
Climb on board for another hair-raising adventure as Patricia and a full cast of friends go all in to prove there’s no such thing as the paranormal …
… let’s just hope they’re right.

About the author

When Steve Higgs wrote his debut novel, Paranormal Nonsense, he was a captain in the British Army. He would like to pretend that he had one of those careers that must be blacked out and generally denied by the government, and that he has to change his name and move constantly because he is still on the watch list in several countries. In truth, though, he started out as a mechanic - not like Jason Statham in the film by that name, sneaking around as a hitman, but more like one of those sleazy guys who charges a fortune and keeps your car for a week even though the only thing you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.
At school, he was largely disinterested in all subjects except creative writing, for which he won his first prize at the age of ten. However, calling it the first prize he won suggests that there were other prizes, which is not the case. Awards may yet come, but in the meantime, he enjoys writing mystery and thriller novels and claims to have more than a hundred books forming a restless queue in his mind because they are desperate to be written.
Now retired from the military, he lives in southeast England with a duo of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, he doubts he'll ever leave, the beer is just too good.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2025As with the last ones no matter what series of Steve Higgs you can't put them down only because you want to know what trouble the characters are going to be getting in to next, I look forward to seeing what adventure Patricia, Barbie, Jermaine and all there friends get into .
- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2024Great characters, but I really wish you hadn’t named your colleague Barbie. Every time I see the name I think of the brainless blonde in the current movie or the doll that was around in the 60s. Jermaine is the ultimate support and the story is active. Exciting and lots of fun to read if occasionally scary.. I recommended highly.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2020Anna's puppies are going to their forever homes. Sam is taking Ringo. But Patricia can't part with little Georgie.
She has 2 strange cases. One is a "poltergeist" besieging Chris Foggarty's book store.
The other is a "Banshee" that paralyzes its victims with a high pitched "scream", takes a skin sample, and then robs them. Tempest and Big Ben are working with Patricia on this one.
Patricia and friends are invited to a gala in London, given by the Maharaja of Zangrabar.
The Godmother's assassins go after Patricia and her friends again, this time at Angelica's house, which gets all shot up-snicker!! Luckily P and her friends
are ok.
Patricia decides she and her friends must go into hiding. After she solves her cases, and after the big soiree, of course.
But can P survive another attempt on her life?
Loved the scifi elements in this one.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2021Thank goodness for these Patricia Fisher mysteries. I read a lot and when I happened upon author Steve Higgs I hit the jackpot. These books are fabulous and "A Banshee and A Bookshop" is my favorite so far. I love all the ones I have read and they just keep getting better. About saving my sanity........it's the books that remind me of a knitted cozy over a warm teapot. These books are safe and I'm hoping you know what I mean. They are simply delightful and the characters are folks I wish I knew personally. Steve Higgs is helping to get me through this pandemic with his wonderful books. Thanks, Steve!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2024Wonderful to see Jermaine, Barbie, and Patricia reunited, and solving crimes, this time on land.
Anna has royal puppies, and Paricia takes on an assistant. His first job, though he's thirty years old, and he makes a great success of it.
So many characters to meet and enjoy.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2024Again, murder and mayhem! Patricia gets involved in a haunted bookstore with a violent ghost, and a banshee who kills. Crazy stuff! The Godmother attempts to kill Patricia again. Could there be any more packed into a book??

5.0 out of 5 stars Patricia teams up with Blue Moons Tempest in this crossover.
A brilliant story which is fast paced and keeps you guessing. Patricia Fisher has several cases in the go in this book.A banshee is leaving people frozen by its paralising scream and after her friend becomes a victim she is asked to help solve the case. But Tempest and his team from Blue Moon agency are already investigating so Patricia calls her good friend Tempest and offers to help. She is also investigating a ghost in a book shop who is trashing the place at night. Plus the Godmother is sending hired goons to kill her after and the Police want her to go in hiding. Lucky she has friends who are there to help including her faithful butler Jermaine. Add in her dachshund Anna and puppies who are going to New homes this is an action packed book. I've read an listened to some Patricia Fisher books and Blue Moon Paranormal Detective agency book by Steve Higgs and found them all to be thoroughly enjoyable. The man has a fantastic imagination.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very entertaining
The characters in this series are very likeable and interesting. The main reason I enjoy these series is because they are very relatable with the older and younger readers. Onward to no. 5.
