Patricia Fisher's Mystery Adventures - A boxed set (Patricia Fisher Mystery Adventure Box Sets Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,185 ratings

When Patricia Fisher opens a private investigation agency in a quiet English village, she expected to look for lost puppies and stolen bicycles …

… what she gets is murder, mystery, and mayhem.

With her butler in tow, this modern-day Miss Marple does her best to keep that upper lip stiff, but far from embracing the quiet English village life - playing croquet on the lawn and eating cucumber sandwiches – Patricia pokes her nose where it is most definitely not wanted …

… and inadvertently attracts the attention of the murky underworld of organised crime.

She is in deep trouble for sure, but there’s one thing the criminals, gangsters, and the police all have in common: they all underestimate her.

It’s going to cost them.

Join her and an enticing cast of friends as they tackle mystery after mystery and get into hot water with criminals, gangsters, and the police.

‘When Steve Higgs writes, he hits it out of the park. I find myself laughing out loud and often.’
‘This series has it all! Everything I want in a story ... humour, suspense, and colourful characters. It’s one of my top all-time favourite series.’

When Steve Higgs wrote his debut novel, Paranormal Nonsense, he was a captain in the British Army. He would like to pretend that he had one of those careers that must be blacked out and generally denied by the government, and that he has to change his name and move constantly because he is still on the watch list in several countries. In truth, though, he started out as a mechanic - not like Jason Statham in the film by that name, sneaking around as a hitman, but more like one of those sleazy guys who charges a fortune and keeps your car for a week even though the only thing you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.

At school, he was largely disinterested in all subjects except creative writing, for which he won his first prize at the age of ten. However, calling it the first prize he won suggests that there were other prizes, which is not the case. Awards may yet come, but in the meantime, he enjoys writing mystery and thriller novels and claims to have more than a hundred books forming a restless queue in his mind because they are desperate to be written.

Now retired from the military, he lives in southeast England with a duo of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, he doubts he'll ever leave, the beer is just too good.

If you’re a fan of cozy mysteries you will love Patrica Fischer! Really enjoyed reading this box set. Normally with a box set I will read one or two books and then read a completely different story. BUT with this series I found myself unable to wait, I had to find out what was going to happen next! Great characters and good murders to solve.

Take a middle-aged woman with a few extra pounds, add in some eccentric friends with special skills, and top with adventures in the English countryside. These books sounded formulaic, but they turned out to be a lovely and original weekend read. Highly recommended!

I have read the entire series starting with the cruise and ending with mystery adventures and thoroughly enjoyed every single one. Also read the culinary capers and enjoyed them as well. I eagerly await the next series of both detectives. I just know you will enjoy them as well. In fact I'm envious of you who are just beginning the journey.

It’s very hard to put the book down as I wanted to see ‘who did it’ A complete mix of characters who compliment each, as they work together to get their man. You think you know the culprit is, then the story turns and you are left thinking ‘who can it be then.’

I have read Steve Higgs other series and thoroughly enjoyed them. I held out on Patricia Fisher because it didn’t seem like my cup of tea, but everyone rose was raving about it so i gave it a go. I have devoured them over the past 2 months and am clambering for more!

The characters are awesome, you feel like they are your best friends. They’re well written, enjoyable reading, and the twists and turns along the way aren’t as predictable as you might think!

I think anyone who enjoys some glitz and glamour and down to earth mysteries with different layers would love these books. Or any of the other offerings by this author. Oh, and liking dachshunds is a must! 😂

I started from the very first mrs fisher book to this set i finished today & am looking forward to the next one. I highly recommend Steve Higgs books if you are looking for something relatively clean (little swearing & no gratuitous sex scenes) but not puritan. They are very good reading!!
