- Reviewed in the United States on May 11, 2021Can never waste your money buying a Rebecca Bradley novel. They all hold your interest and are an excellent read. I always feel like one of her characters...another reason to love them. Check her out if you haven’t read her novels before.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2019Good book from one of my favorite authors! Not my top pick from her books but definitely worth reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2024Crime writer Alice Friend puts what she knows into practice when she agrees to help her much-loved mother-in-law shuffle off this mortal coil. But to build up her nerve, she decides to practice on random people first – she loves her MIL and wants to save her from the relentless misery of her MIL’s Multiple Sclerosis, wants to make sure she can do the crime when her MIL is ready, and she wants to do it right. She documents her odyssey in a diary for anyone who might be cleaning up after her, justifying why she did what she did.
I got this book thinking it was a part of either the DI Hannah Robbins series, or the Detective Claudia Nunn series, both of which I love love love. Looks like it’s a one-off instead, about this new character Alice Friend. I was unsure in the beginning but due to my intense loyalty to this author’s other characters, I kept going, and I’m glad I did. It was fascinating to watch an otherwise normal person with noble motives slide into murder again and again.
Alice has an amazing capacity for self-deception. I enjoyed seeing what was going on in Alice’s head while she was committing her crimes, all in the name of gaining skill for when she had to help her MIL. Would I read it again? No. But I did enjoy it and while I did not find her as attractive or likeable as the author’s other characters, this was an interesting, compelling read that made the time on the elliptical or recumbent bike just fly by.
I'd actually give this 3.75 stars if that were possible. Fully-developed characters, good writing, interesting plot, story kept me entertained throughout. I just didn't like Alice quite as much as I do the author's other characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2019Every now and then a book comes to your attention randomly without you expecting it. Perfect Murder is that book for me. I was scrolling through a book group I am in on Facebook one night when I couldn’t sleep and a post by Rebecca caught my attention offering a free copy of her latest book. After reading the blurb, I just had to read this and I am so glad that I did. Perfect Murder is an absolute ripper and I could not get through it fast enough to see how it was all going to unfold!
What I found so intriguing about this, was the topic of the story. Can you get away with the committing the Perfect Murder? Now let me make it clear that I have never thought about this or would want to do it, but to read this book from a characters perspective of seeing if it can be done just for the sake of it, was so interesting and had me glued to the pages and reading this in one sitting. I was that hooked! For a person to never have had these thoughts to just one day decide they would try it was just fascinating to me and is unlike anything I have read before.
Alice is such an interesting character to me. As an author of crime novels who is used to writing about her characters committing murder, to then just deciding one day to see if it can be done without getting caught, just shook me to the core and had me thinking what type of killer is worse. One who is born with these killer instincts or the one who decides to do it on a whim just to see if they can! It wasn’t hard for me to come to the conclusion that the latter for me is the worst kind. What was hard though, was that I actually really liked Alice’s character..
I really enjoyed Rebecca’s style where the story just flowed and at a fast pace with short snappy chapters, each one building the tension along the way to the point where my heart was racing. With writing that is engaging and draws you into the story and with great characterisation, Perfect Murder ticked all the boxes for me and is one hell of a read!
Rebecca is a new author to me and one I am really glad to now have on my radar for future books. Perfect Murder is a compelling, thought provoking gem of a read that will keep you enthralled till the very last page. It was an absolute pleasure to read and review Perfect Murder which I highly recommend.
Thank-you to Rebecca Bradley for providing me with a copy of the ebook for Perfect Murder which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing gripping tale
So easy to give this a 5star rating. From reading the short introduction you want to read more to find out of the character really did get away with the perfect murder. This book is written as as story being told by the main character who is a published author who is writing the next book in a series where the main character is a DI on the trail of a serial killer. Don't want to give the story away but you cannot wait to find out of she did get away with the perfect murder.
Another great story written by Rebecca Bradley and again she doesn't disappoint who because of her background ensures from a police procedural point of you is spot on.
Highly recommend this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Heartwrenching suspense
I liked and disliked this story. It was an emotional roller coaster also a page turner as it has so much detail leaves you in an emotional state reading it.The story has its sensitive side regarding some of the characters and reveals the heartache surrounding a debilitating illness featuring great love and kindness to the end, However the main character Alice is a cold serial killer who gets away with murder has great nerve a risk taker but believes she has the right to take lives to selfishly satisfy herself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspense
Having been sent as an act I could not wait to start this, what is the perfect murder, one you don't get caught for or one that although wrong to kill is highly justified?
Well read this and you may just find out what constitutes the perfect murder
Thank you to the author
