Heather is a lover of all books YA Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy, but it wasn’t until she was in college that she realized this. It’s likely why the book she wrote in 8th grade was rewritten several times and then set aside to sit on her bookshelf to never see the light of day. Once Heather found the genre that she enjoyed above all others, she dove back into reading, and with it, writing. That’s why even her Christmas books are filled with dragons and shifters.

Currently, Heather and her writing companion, Gunney, live in Wisconsin. He’s her Pomeranian that loves to keep her company while she writes and edits. He also keeps her on her toes. They can often be found wandering the local cemetery to escape the apartment, sitting out on the back deck, or snuggling on the couch writing. If Heather isn’t writing, she’s listening to music while crocheting, making Christmas ornaments, or reading. Some form of music is always playing, and each book has its own theme song or album.

    After reading the blurb on the back of Heather Karn's book at a Roanoke Author Invasion, I thought, "Wow this could be an amazing book." Let me tell you Heather did not disappoint. I was enthralled through the whole series. I ended up buying the entire series on ebook not to mention I have Perfect Scents in print.
    Joey and her world getting turned upside down when she discovers weregals and the fact that she is one. Kev, the one who lets her know she's an animal she thought was a myth captures her attention with his scent and looks. As Joey is thrown into this new world she discovers she's unique no matter which world she's in.
    The Weregals Chronicles is very original. From the weregals having their own unique world to their history that is quite different than anything I've ever read. If you enjoy paranormal romance with adventure that will leave you ready for the next book in the trilogies.

    Wow!! This is from a brand new author!! I first heard of this book in the Facebook page for new want to be authors.. "The Scarlet Quill" After reading a little I had to read more.. This book is awesome!!! It's about Werecats.. But I don't want to give away any spoilers.. So you have to read it!! Im waiting patiently for the 2nd book.. Way to go Heather!! You are a natural storyteller.. I loved it!!

    I had no expectations reading this other than recognizing it was a shifter based book and was very pleasantly surprised especially coming from a first time author. I couldn't put it down and suffered book hangover from reading this. The characters are relatable and the storyline didn't drag but definitely ended with great expectations for book 2. I would definitely recommend to all YA shifter lovers.

    3.5 star rating (generously rounding up). This book was definitely a YA read. The story was entertaining & held my interest, though not enough to stay up late to finish. I wasn't as fond of the h/H characters. I felt like Joette (Joey) wasn't very bright at times, she never seemed to ask any questions with Kev that would have helped with the situation. As a sensitive nosed person (definitely not like hers though!), I could relate to some of the issues she had with the sense of smell so heightened (little old ladies bathing in perfume, or young guys covered in 1/2 a bottle of Axe body spray can take me down!). Kev's character seemed a bit off, one minute he's a dominant pushy alpha personality, the next he's crying, the 2 sides just didn't seem to mesh for me. The story flowed ok for the most part, there were a few spots that just seemed to drag. Some parts of the plot just didn't feel realistic (like how a town could keep Weregals a secret from the rest of the world). I understand the use of the word "Weregals" as the name for the shifter, but I just didn't like it. It almost felt degrading. A Bengal tiger is a majestic beast. The name used made me think of the Hollywood couples that combine parts of names for the paparazzi or press today. I think the YA group would enjoy this more than I did. Not sure I would want to read the rest of the series.
