Perfect Song (Mason Creek Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,129 ratings

"Must Read! I was NOT DISAPPOINTED at all. I actually fell in love from page one."
- The Guide To Romance Novels

I came back to Mason Creek when my life was turned upside down, both literally and figuratively. Scared and alone, I packed my belongings and left New York where I’ve made a career as a writer for a national publication to stay with my parents in the town so different than the big apple they might as well be on different planets.

Getting to see my friends was a big plus, but meeting someone new never crossed my mind until a ruggedly handsome man in jeans and a worn baseball cap came over to say hello. Not knowing someone in this small town is like not knowing how to breathe. The slightly older man caught my eye, just as much as I caught his. A witty and roguish personality kept me on my toes, even if falling for someone new is the last thing I need.

Neither of us wants a relationship, yet we keep finding each other in this small town. Rumors fly, hearts connect, and there’s more at stake than either of us are willing to share.

This man has secrets everyone wants to know, but when more than he’s willing to share is revealed I hope I’m strong enough to help him. I may have come back to town to save myself, but saving him might be the real reason I’m here.

* The Mason Creek series is 12 complete standalone books written by 12 amazing authors! They can be read in any order. We hope you enjoy our small town of Mason Creek, Montana.

Justine left right out of high-school for the bright lights of the "city that never sleeps."  She is happy with her life and her career as a journalist for a top magazine in New York, but she is forced to return home to Mason Creek.  She goes to Pony Up to meet her friends and meets Tucker Simms, who is the lead singer in a country cover band, and said to be the "local legend."

Perfect Song is the second book from the new Mason Creek Series.  This is also a first read author for me, and I am not going to lie, I loved every page! Tucker and Justine are the couple country love songs are written about.  This book has it all; laughter, drama, angst, tears, and some of the best country songs.

Lauren Runow defintly delivered with Justine and Tucker.  These two show that your best bet on love can be right in your backyard and you don't even know it.  It can be read as a standalone.
Mason Creek is becoming a beautiful place to live, and I can't wait for the next book.

I really enjoyed this book. There were just a couple things I found kind of hard to believe...
    1. That Justine grew up in a small country town and didn't know any old country songs just because they came out before she was born or when she was little. I'm only 32 and know all the songs they mentioned very well. It just seemed unbelievable that she didn't know Garth Brooks at least.
    2. Tucker got his diagnoses very quickly. That is super rare, especially with how early it was caught. It runs in my family and I have seen first hand how hard it is to get a diagnoses.

Other that those 2 things I really enjoyed reading this and loved their overall story.

This is my first book by this author and I absolutely loved it. I am very hard to please when it comes to romances (unfortunately), but this book had everything I love in a romance and had me crying at end. (This review may contain spoilers).

I was sucked in right away. I was immediately invested in Tucker and Justine. I loved the way things progressed between them. I loved that she followed her feelings towards Tucker and didn’t listen to the town gossip or her parents lol.

When the big conflict occurs it was so well done and so believable. It was also gut wrenching and my heart was just breaking for Justine. But the way it ended was superb and had me bawling my eyes out!! And the epilogue was just what I needed to end this story!

I loved reading Tucker and Justine'story ! It is beautifully written, so real and emotional. It is wonderful to see how they can't seem to stay way since they first meet and Tucker being older has a maturity and protectiveness about himself that is truly irresistible. When time comes Justine is also there to be his rock and together they rely on each other and overcome past and present challenges. It is truly a wonderful book with rich, sensitive characters. A must read!

This was sweet and the end pretty sappy. MUCH better writing with this author than in the first book of the series, and I appreciate the touches of humor. My only real complaint is there is only the one VERY brief cameo from one of the main characters in the first book.

I really enjoyed Perfect Song. It is a single dad, age gap, small town romance that was mature, sweet and super steamy with an incredible sub-story that was definitely a bit of a tear jerker at times.

Tucker was a sexy single dad mechanic/country singer who set out to woo Justine, the younger woman who returned to her hometown after something happened to her in NYC, and watching him set his intentions to win her heart was amazing. Ugh, I loved it so much, it was fabulous....just a beautiful love story. I would highly recommend.

This is my first introduction to Lauren Runow. I loved the characters and felt they were beautifully written. I would love to read more books from this author as her story had depth.

    ***Spoiler Alert***

I personally had an issue with Tucker getting violent with a stranger at the bar. Then he tells Justine that he almost killed a man he caught with his ex-wife, Justine swoons and forgives him because he was protecting her. That whole thing really bothered me and why I gave it a 3 star review.

Perfect Song was just a flawless written romance story and confirmed that the Mason Creek series, a set of standalone's by some of our top romance authors is going to be a smash hit. Justine and Tucker's story will take you on an emotional journey of betrayal, sadness but most importantly love and hope. This is an exceptional love story.

Justine never thought she would leave NY the city she had called home for many years, but now after a traumatic incident, she is back in her hometown of Mason Creek trying to put her life back together. Justine's best-laid plans to return to NY when the time is right is about to hit a bump in the form of part-time singer and mechanic Tucker.

Tucker came to Mason Creek after Justine left, at 44 he is a private person just trying to help raise his teenage son, which of cause leads to a lot of speculation in a small town. Tucker wasn't looking for love and he wasn't expecting to find it in someone so much younger than himself. But when a devasting blow catches you off guard will Tucker keep Justine by his side or force her back to NY.

I never thought I would give this book 5 stars when I started this. But I am truly shocked in the end I happened to give exactly the same. One thing that changed my mind was the plot and the characters. I have read older men and younger women stories and also single dad stories but this one was different and I love it.
