I read Nox's story first and then had a book hangover and gobbled up this one immediately afterwards. I love all these characters. They are so well written and just great people overall. The kind of people you would want to have in your life as friends.
From the two of them meetings briefly in the other books for Nox, to the meeting for the first time in this book again. I was wrapped up in the story and could barely put it down. What is sleep? I don't know. I was too busy reading the book. Lol
I love each of the characters and who they are as individuals. Skye with her dream of having a wedding store with her own design and then Artair with His family obligations on the island.
Nox hinted in the first book that Artair possibly owned his own island. And he did. It was in his family. And he was the one who would be taking it over. And then it turns out Skye was pregnant. But she was in the States at the time and was under a contract. So they had to figure it out. I love how the whole story played out and how she came home when he was lost searching for another kid when the avalanche happened. The connection and their love was simply wonderful.
Well at the light how the animosity from Sebastian with three deals in this book. Disappointment from him and Skye Not working out as a couple in addition to seeing Artair as the perfect guy hurt Sebastian to his core because of childhood dreams and thoughts. But in the end, Sebastian came around and recognized that Artair and Skye were meant to be.
As for Artair and his family.... I understand that their father abandoned them and that hurt them all. But I didn't understand other dynamics. Why was Maggie so set to have her mom stay with them when she was hurting them physically and emotionally because of Alzheimer's. She was so angry at Artair when he was trying to keep them safe. It gets that she doesn't like change, but they were being physically hurt and she was keeping it from him. He did the right thing putting his Ma into a home. Especially after she completely destroyed his home that he was creating and finishing for Skye and their family of three to be. Maggie was actually disappointing in the sense that she wasn't taking care of her siblings the way she should by protecting them and wow her brother moved into Artair's old cottage, she wasn't making room for her younger sister. So I was very glad when Skye stepped up with him and told him the sister would live with them and the new baby. These two, just like The prior book, we're made for each other.
So yes, major book hangover again after reading this book. I would love to move to Scotland or travel to Scotland and meet me at Scot like him or nox! They are both absolutely wonderful and so are the Ladies they fell for. 💙💙
Things I didn't like:
-maggie's attitude and The way she handled her child's father when she got pregnant. Alec should have been told that he was the dad from the beginning just like Skye did for Artair. That's only right.
-as I found issue with the first book epilogue, I also did not like this one. But I didn't like this one for two reasons.
1. An epilogue is a conclusion to a story. And this so-called epilogue was simply a preview of the next book. That is not what an epilogue is supposed to be. And I find that very annoying when authors do that. Regardless of how good their book is. If you want to do a blurb on your next book, by all means, do it. But don't do it under the disguise of an epilogue. Because going into this book I already knew that skye was pregnant. Which is fine. And going into the next book I already know that Sebastian's in prison for a 5 year sentence.
2. Sebastian is no dummy. Yes, he likes to fight, but there's no reason he shouldn't have run when the cops came. Especially since the girl took off. And the fact that he is spending any time in prison is simply not okay. So I fear that I will not like his book because I do not like that aspect of what happened to his character. But, because I love all these characters, I am absolutely going to read his story. Hopefully I will be wrong and I will really enjoy it too.
I also enjoyed the bonus scene that you have to download for their wedding. Though I'm not sure that I will ever go back and read about the parents. Maybe. I did that with one book series and I was disappointed because the parents and the kids seem to follow the same storylines on how they met and what not. And I like variety. But so far, this author seems to do a good job with that, so maybe I'll have it on my want to read list for someday. Hehe.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2024Gosh! What a lovely story line with endearing characters. This is my first time reading Jolie Vines and such a great experience it was. I’m looking forward to reading many more.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2020Overall Grade: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
When Jolie Vines announces a new book, it causes me to pause. Can she do it again? Is it possible that this book could be the one that might leave me a little disappointed? I know it’s wrong. I shouldn’t doubt these amazing authors who pour their souls and words into their stories, but there is sometimes a little doubt. And I don’t want it to happen because authors bring so much energy and respite into my life. But it’s always there, sitting in a minuscule part of my mind.
And here’s the reality. Jolie Vines has yet to dissatisfy me. Instead, with her newest book, Perfect Storm, she continues to capture my heart and interest. Just when I think I might question her skill, she shows me easily her amazing skill at writing heroes who grasp my heart and cause me to swoon for their love of the heroine. In every single book, Vines writes the hell out of her heroes. Artair, the hero of Perfect Storm, is no different. As such, I’ve decided to coin a new phrase when referring to a Jolie Vines book: the Vines Hero. This writer is writing heroes who encompass a multitude of traits that lead you confidently and carefully through the joys and tensions of their stories: alpha, compassionate, empathic, masculine, and passionate. In each of her books, you can trust, you believe, that her heroes will lead you out to the most glorious of happy endings.
Perfect Storm is the story of Skye McRae (Callum’s daughter) and Artair (a friend of Skye’s twin, Lennox). In the first book of the Wild Scots series (Lennox’s story), it is clear at their first meeting that Skye and Artair exude powerful chemistry. This story begins several months later when Skye and her uncle, Wasp, travel to Artair’s island in order to take photos for Skye’s portfolio of wedding dresses. Skye is prepared to leave Scotland for New York for an internship that will afford her advantages in setting up her future as a wedding dress designer. Like the first time they met, Skye and Artair’s chemistry is combustible, and they engage in a one-night stand with no promises for the future. Separated the next day, the two go back to their lives, but they think back on the other from time to time. Then, one day, Skye shows up in Scotland with a revelation. Are Artair and Skye destined for each other, or will their dreams and aspirations derail their future?
While a Vines Hero is something special, as evidenced by Artair’s devotion and care of Skye (even when his control is stymied), a Vines Hero cannot illustrate his traits without the force of a heroine. Honestly, the heroines of Vines’s books tend to create the complications for a possible relationship. Skye McRae has aspirations and dreams, and a relationship with Artair seems impossible as they live in different parts of the world. Artair also has challenges that cause difficulties for these two to have a relationship. Yet, even though much of the difficulties between these two reside with Skye’s decisions for her future, she is above all else intelligent, compassionate, capable, insightful, and she is trying to carve out her place in the world. Through her characterization, Vines reminds us that Artair is right in falling for her. She is the type of woman who can bring light and life into his world. Without her, Artair cannot become his best self. In fact, when you read a Vines book, you learn quickly that the hero and heroine are two sides of the same coin. Their struggles are similar, and they work together to resolve them. It’s this revelation in her books that hooks you.
I know what I love the most about Jolie Vines’s storytelling: it is safe even when it doesn’t feel like it. This isn’t to say that she doesn’t create the emotional depth necessary to grab her reader’s souls. It simply means that the strife of the story won’t sink your soul. It tinges it for a bit before it lifts you up in the end. Watching these larger than life, masculine heroes love their heroines to the depths of their beings makes you believe that you can be loved completely. This is the trust I find in Vines’s storytelling. Perfect Storm manifests this beautifully, and it offers a message about our futures: dreams and aspirations are important, but living a life loved should be a part of our future too. Our future can change to include the deepest of love because, in the end, it will make us better people. This is the depth of Jolie Vines’s writing soul in Perfect Storm.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2024This story was all about two strangers who found about love and honor. What started out seemed to be something of a one night stand. Skype was on her way to America to start her career in dress making. Altair made his own way in Scotland where they were both from.
Best laid plans are bound to change in this story. It's excellent

I could tell in Nox’s book these had some crazy chemistry and pull to each other and damn was it explosive in this book! It was everything and so much more, Art, ugh he had the weight of the world on his shoulders with his family and land but he the way he stepped up and was so ready to be there Skye and their baby bear made him an incredible man. He was ready for his future, I thought I loved Ally as a dad but Artair really blew me away, Jolie really knows how to write some absolute dilfs who are not only alpha but the most fierce, protective and loyal husbands & fathers.
I think their story is beautiful, it means so much more that it progressed naturally rather than “doing the right thing because of a baby”
I know exactly how it is to fall in love with your baby daddy this way, everything happens for a reason and they were meant to be for sure.

Well Jolie Vines has done it again really enjoying reading these books about the families in Scotland Artair and Skye just made this book. I am soooo glad she went looking for him to tell him she was pregnant. Most of the books I read the woman does not want to tell the guy!!!! Onto Sebastian now ❤️
