Pictures To Die For (John Kite Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 622 ratings

In Florida, a multi-million dollar painting is vaporised by a rocket-propelled grenade. Why is someone destroying priceless artworks? That’s what PI John Kite has to discover. At the same time, Kite’s hired by an ex-lover to trace her missing husband. The sparky Kite, an ex-cop, works both cases simultaneously, criss-crossing the Atlantic and chasing around Europe. There’s unresolved tension between him and his kooky ex-lover, but she’s an ex-cop too, and together they follow leads which take them to Delaware. Where it’s an explosive crisis time as they become embroiled in a vicious, private war between billionaires.
Alongside crime, thrills and action there's snappy dialogue, quirky characters, perky humour, and a bit of romance. A "feelgood thriller". If you like John Sandford's 'Prey' series or Robert Crais' Elvis & Cole books, try Pictures To Die For. Download it now.

"There’s a lot going on in my crime thriller books," says author Stuart Doughty, "but there's also stuff you may not find in other writers' books. There are murders, heists, chases, but also quirky characters, snappy dialogue, and a sense of humour. My main character, British PI John Kite, is a tough guy who can fight, climb, drive fast and is a police-trained marksman, but he's also intelligent, amusing and thoughtful - even sensitive - on occasions. At age 19, Kite discovered his father was a professional criminal, so he changed his name, and changed his life to join the police. Now, as a PI, he still strives to atone for his father’s crimes. Specialising in hunting stolen artworks, he crosses continents to fight crime – and save the world from the mayhem threatened by despots, tycoons, warlords, and foreign agents.”

Stuart was born in London, England. He spent most of his life working as a Television Producer, making popular drama series and soaps.

This author has a good writing style. His books move along at a good place. My only gripe is the incredibly unrealistic scenarios he uses.

I got this book because it had Florida in it. This was way more than I thought it was. It took us from Florida to Europe, the imagery was wonderful. There is action and mystery. There are great characters. I love the art angle and characters. There were times I laughed so hard. There was mystery and danger. This runs the whole gambit of emotions. Fantastic book.
