Point of No Return (The Turning Point Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
Matthew Elliot is one of LA’s best detectives. He’s been labeled the golden boy of the Fab Four: a team of four detectives who’ve closed down drug-rings all over the city. He’s smart, tough and exceptionally good at his job. He’s also a closeted gay man.
Enter Kira Takeo Franco, the new boxing coach at the gym. Matthew can’t deny his immediate attraction to the man his fellow cops know as Frankie. But in allowing himself to fall in love with a man known to his colleagues, Matthew risks outing them both. Matt and Kira work to keep their relationship and private lives hidden from Matt’s very public life, fearing it would be detrimental to their careers.
But it’s not the other cops who Matthew should be worried about finding out his deepest, darkest secret… it’s the bad guys.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2017I really enjoyed this book. It made me smile, made me giggle, and even made me sniffle a time or two. This book was a refresher from what I have been reading. Everything lately has been either sexed out fluff pieces or hardcore, slit my wrists, anxiety inducing reads. This book was a nice in between. There were a couple light sex scenes, there was romance, and just enough action to lift the book from fluff to interesting. I would definitely recommend this and am already aiming to read more from this author (=
Oh and before I forget, I love that A) this is a series so I get to read more on toe amazing characters and B) there was no waffling. The characters decided they liked each other and that was that. The rest of the story was told with them getting to know each other and building their relationship, not a story focused on doubts and second guessing their feelings for one another. I've gotten to where I'm not a huge fan of stand alone novels because it seems like all authors think that the main drama should be the internal turmoil of the MCs getting together. I hate it. It causes me anxiety and I'm going to have ulcers by the time I'm 30 because of it. So, I love books like this where the MCs don't waffle.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2014Ms Walker did an amazing job on this book. The action and drama, mixed with the emotion, love, and Hot Sex made an incredible story of two real and individual men with their own identities that seemed to spark a strong attraction between the two. Matthew, a gay narcotics detective, still in the closet and a big part of the Fav Four of Detectives, meets Kira, a Spanish/Japanese, gay man who is a personal trainer at the gym the cops frequented. The minute the two meet sparks start to fly. Neither one of them can think of anyone else. Matt has always had trouble with his relationships because of his job, but there was something about Kira he couldn't get away from. Kira is somewhat aggressive trying to get him to come to dinner, and when Matt finally agrees, the sparks fly almost out of control. They spend a lot of quality time together with some of the Hottest Sex I've read. Matt has been working on a drug cartel case and the aspects of this put a certain amount of drama and action which affects both of them. This novel has kept me on the edge of chair wanting more because these two men are meant to be together regardless of their obstacles. Kira's parents bring a sweet component to the story especially when the story comes to an extraordinary climax. This is definitely a great MM Romance/Love Story which will grip your heart. You fall for the characters and the story line held me to every moment. Loved it. Must Read. HOT, HOT
- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2017So glad I didn't. Romance, romance, romance. Too much romance, or so I thought, until the proverbial s*** hit the proverbial fan. Great action, great story. I don't read romance novels, not often, anyway. I generally read action/adventure, or thrillers. I've been reading in this genre lately, and have found that most of the novels I've read, though they promise action, have little of it, or it is poorly done. This one is closer to the mark. I found it very enjoyable. The author is a very good storyteller, and her narrative style is clear and concise. Her dialogue is well organized and easy to follow, and the love scenes are neither gratuitous nor overwhelming, as is the case with too many novels in this genre.
This is probably a bit nit-picky, but I was particularly impressed by the fact that she actually knows the difference between "purposely," and "purposefully." Most current authors, as well as professional journalists, seem completely clueless on this point. Maybe they think the bigger word is fancier? Refreshing to encounter a writer who actually understands the difference between the two.
All in all this novel proved to be an enjoyable and entertaining read. I look forward to the next in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2016While I did enjoy the story, Matt and Kira were likeable and the romance was good, there were parts that were a little frustrating. The characters frequently " rolled their eyes " .It is very distracting, please find another way to describe a situation . I started counting how often this was used but gave up because it was so often.
While I know this is fiction, some of the police action seemed a little unlikely at times.
An ok read, rather than a great one
- Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2014This author has a nice, easy writing style that I enjoy. Her characters are endearing and down to earth. No over the top drama which is sometimes nice. This story is about Kira, a fitness trainer at a cops' gym and Matt, a narcotics detective. They are both in the closet because of their professions. Gay for you and coming out of the closet M/M romances are my favorite because it's that old tried and true forbidden love theme. How far will one push their live's boundries for the one they love. The crime aspect of the plot was ok but not great. Good read overall.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2018I listened to the audiobook for this. It's a book I've owned for ages and I'm not sure why it just kept slipping down on my tbr. I'm glad I finally got to it because I enjoyed it so much. Because I've read many NR Walker books, I'm not a bit surprised this was an excellent read.
This book starts off with snarky co-worker cops and then we encounter the two MCs who are sassy and pretty sweet to each other. The crime drama part of the book was amazing! There was a twist that I sort of saw coming but still felt satisfying when Matt figured it out. During the major conflict of the story, I was so shocked and felt so upset, I first nearly drove my car off the road, and then listened while dabbing my eyes with a napkin.
This book has such sweet MCs. They are funny and tender with each other. There are two more books that I will be diving in to.

5.0 out of 5 stars absolutely loved it
This was a fantastically good read. I was hooked from the start and couldn't put it down. The characters were believable and appealing and the build up and sexual tension between the two main characters was incredibly hot. But the story of their relationship was also set within an exciting and well paced cop story.
The story flowed beautifully and the author had me on the edge of my seat for the most dramatic parts of the story.
I'm a sucker for a good m/m romance and this was perfect. Sweet without being sappy and hot with some lovely sex scenes, but not so many that it detracts from the plot.
My only slight niggle is that I found the 'thing' (no spoilers) that cracked the case a little too obvious. I'd guessed it so early that it wasn't believeable for me that the cops would have missed it - but maybe I've missed my vocation as a crime fighter ;)
But that's a very minor criticism and didn't detract from my enjoyment overall so it still gets 5 stars from me.
I can't wait for more from N.R. Walker!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great read by a favorite author
A closeted police detective and tough gym trainer develop their relationship from attracted strangers to committed lovers, right under the noses of their police buddies. Neither of them wants to risk coming out in the hyper masculine world they live in. When the Detective's case takes a terrifying turn, he risks losing his career, his friends and his lover. The characters and plot are believable, making you want these guys to have it all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Action, friendship, love
Fast moving action moments, deep heartbinding personal moments, just the right balance between romance and detective work, police story danger and sentimental feelings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended
The way Matt and Kira fell for each other was just magic. I was giddy reading it and it developed wonderfully. So much can be said with a smile and a look if the writer is as accomplished as NR Walker.
The story is well paced and the minor characters developed just enough to make them interesting and an integral part of the story. Loved Matt’s interaction with his ‘police family’ and the way everybody had each other’s back. His work as a cop and how they came to revisit this closed case was well described. The different elements of the story are brilliantly woven together making it a wonderful read.
I learned later that this was the first book in a trilogy – haven’t read the others yet, this works really well as a standalone, too.
