    I am not one who typically writes reviews. I will say I am a diehard, romance lover, who loves a good alpha male who gets jealous. I feel like I have been searching through books forever to find one that fit all of what I was looking for. I can say that this is one of the best romance books I have read. I’m so exited to see this author has more work I get to dive into.

    I have not come across Ms. Robbins' works before, but this is a very provocative, unusual situation, kinky to some I'm sure, and entertaining, I think, as romance stories go with a lot of steam and obligatory angst and tension. I do recommend this book, as the storyline is well written, well paced and engaging from cover to cover if somewhat predictable for well read Romance fans.

    I saw a quote from this book either in my Instagram feed or stories and immediately went to Goodreads and added it to my TBR. I was feeling like something with a lot of dirty raunchy spice so I figured I’d try this out b/c if a single quote gets me to look into something it was a GOOD ONE.

    Holy moly! I was expecting spice but we’re not even 20% in and we’ve got filthy Daddy Powers over here making me melt!
    When Jett Powers discovers that his fiancee Rachel’s daughter is spending the summer with them he’s not exactly thrilled albeit intrigued especially when Rachel is so cavalier about her daughter in general.
    Then he meets her and all clicks into place. Rachel doesn’t talk about her because she is jealous of her own daughter and in Rachel’s world there’s only room for ONE leading lady and that’s her. Immediately there’s a feeling of electricity between Jett and Raven at the first handshake so you know the spice level is going to incinerate you.
    OH. DEAR. LORD.
    Rachel goes out of town for work leaving Raven and Jett alone and the sparks literally start flying the second they’re alone together and the first encounter they have is WOW.

    While this was a definite spicy read there was a deeper story being told in the feelings of both Jett and Raven. Two people who in some ways are so damaged and looking for something but they don’t really know what until it hits them right in face and then they’re not really sure what to do with it. Seeing how they overcame their issues was kind of swoon worthy.

    𝙅𝙚𝙩𝙩 𝙋𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙨 is the best defense attorney in the country. He’s devastatingly handsome, wickedly smart, and very wealthy, and he uses that to his advantage in every situation he finds himself in. So when his fiancé’s daughter, 𝙍𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙩, comes to stay with them for the summer, he doesn’t even consider fighting his attraction to her.

    The story itself was fine, but I didn’t feel a connection to any of the characters. The relationship between Raven and Jett fell flat for me, and I think the main reason is because I couldn’t get into the sex scenes. They felt passionless, rushed, and far fetched. With barely any previous contact or conversation between them, Jett initiates a sexual encounter that has Raven orgasming in 0.2seconds (he really didn’t do much) without any question as to what’s happening.

    Raven came across so weak and naive but was written to be strong (from dealing with her mother) and intelligent (knowing the law better than actual lawyers).

    There were a few scenes that I really enjoyed, and I loved the groveling at the end. I’m a sucker for a good grovel!

    All in all, I don’t think this was a bad book, just not for me.

    There were so many aspects to this story that made it impossible to put down. First there is the relationship between Raven and her mother, Rachel. It was beyond toxic. And in many ways it really felt like Raven was more of an adult than Rachel was. Also the relationship between Rachel and Jett was just wrong on SO many levels. That woman wouldn't know how to love anything if it smacked her in the face. Then here is the relationship between Raven and Maria. She is so protective of that girl and seeing how Maria acts towards Jett is hilarious! Then there is the relationship that had with Brody and Cher! Talk about some epic, ride or die friends!

    That brings me to the relationship between Raven and Jett...... 🔥🔥🔥💦💦💦 Well..... it was HOT AF! And oh so complicated! And everything he thought he was successfully pushing her away, he got super jealous and made another excuse as to why he needed to keep being with her in secret. While I would never condone cheating.... I can totally see why Raven would have absolutely NO guilt over it. The groveling seemed a bit outrageous on a monetary level, but the meaning behind each gift was totally swoon worthy!

    To say that I am so in love with this story is a bit of an understatement! The forbidden nature, the super hot scenes, and then angst involved with the reason for the forbidden nature.... UGH! Totally my kryptonite! And there was even a darlin' or 2 thrown in for good Kelly measure! This book gets all the SPICY AF and FORBIDDEN AF stars!

    This book was hot, but Cassandra has a way of creating a solid story. So with this and some great characters made this book hard to put down.
