Power of Hope (The Legacy Chronicles Book 4) Kindle Edition
"Romyn has a talent for taking mythologies and weaving them into awe-inspiring, kickass modern adventures." -- Matt Pearson
Book 4 of the Legacy Chronicles.
Hell has come to Earth. The planet is a charnel house, where man and demon clash on a daily basis, and humanity is swiftly losing.
Is all hope lost?
Jacob Hope trudges through the nightmare, his ever-faithful lieutenants in tow, ready to sacrifice themselves to close off the gates to Hell. But are they too late? Only a few of the twelve gates have been found, and time is ticking down until the end of all things.
Albert Pointreid commands hordes of fallen angels and demonic creations along with armies of deluded mortals. Behind them, Lucifer’s legions gnash and snarl, yearning for the ultimate clash which will decide the fate of all things ethereal. Yet those we’ve always thought watched over us from on high stand aside and do nothing.
In this dramatic conclusion to The Legacy Chronicles, Jake must become more than just a man. Yet, to succeed, he must walk through the one place he hoped to never see again.
The bowels of the universe.
Hell.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2018This story concludes the Legacy Chronicles in an amazing battle of wits between Jake Hope and Lucifer, and it's a tremendous meditation on the nature of reality, the possibility of the existence of supreme evil, and the contemplation of what God's nature and intentions may be for the human race, our world, and what the role of a messiah might actually be at the end of our age... and of course taking into consideration the prophecy of Armageddon that is present in Western Christian and Islamic religious beliefs, among others.
The action here is intense beyond belief, and the author is an amazingly talented storyteller. I was enthralled by his contemplations from start to finish, and I was sure that I had correctly surmised who the character Vain was at the end, (Vain is a prominent character who shows up in all of the Legacy novels, and various times.) But I was surprised to see that I was totally wrong about who Vain is, and what his importance is to Jacob Hope's mission. The one thing that bothers me about this story is the author's adamant refusal to admit that God is real and present in the universe. Jake Hope never admits to a belief in him, although he finally submits to one prayer near the end. I have trouble accepting the author's barren disbelief throughout the story, his agnostic denials get him into more misery than is necessary, and his perspective is bleak. There is, however, great adventure here, and great heroism, great evil also. However, at the end, although the story ends well, it left me with a sense of futility, and a feeling that the future of Mankind will not be one which will reward us with satisfaction or peace. It's depressing. This is an epic story series, certainly...it's just not Lord of the Rings for a Christian believer, I think, because (for me) it was not uplifting. But I am certain this story series would appeal to individuals who are not as committed to a belief in a God who actually cares about His people.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2016This series was one of the best that I have read. The story arch stay true to itself from beginning to end. And the main character continued to grow learning through his trials and coming through them even stronger, which was needed.
The twist in the plot were at times very surprising and some made me down right angry yet these are the reasons we continue to read the story and not get board especially when dealing with a series.
The story also came to a comfortable end and most of the story liues were tied up. I was not left feeling as if I was on a cliff hanger. I do look forward to more of Luke Romyn's writing and hope they keep me enrapt as much as this has.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2016Enjoyed the series, gave my spirit more to ponder on.
If we can think it, could it be possible. God in whatever form is real in my world, how about your??
- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2014This finale is bittersweet. Through the series, I've come to know and care about Jake. Other reviews have criticized Jake for being overly whiny, as have certain characters in the books. And yes, he has been. He's also been incredibly self-centered and overly introspective. As if any other human would handle everything better? Jake is Everyguy, not a superhero, and this is exactly what makes the stories what they are rather than comic books (sorry, "graphic novels"). He is the character we can all relate to, and his questions are those most of us share. What if...?
Vain has been and will remain my favorite of the Legacy Chronicles, though I will miss Jake, Mikey and Tony, and even Michael. The people with Jake along his journey have been an extraordinary group, fighting battles that only Luke Romyn could have imagined, beginning with the first page. As with The Prometheus Wars books, it's a thrill ride that only pauses long enough for you to see the drop ahead, before plunging into action again. And as with those books, I'm sorry the ride is over but I eagerly await whatever follows.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2021The four books in this series grabs one's attention, each leaving an desire to know what will occur next. They are an interesting presentation of the End Times. A telling, immersed in the weaknesses and strengths of humanity, with any infinity of possibilities and hope eternal. Perhaps mankind may one day learn to emulate the good Shepard, cherishing each other; protecting all of creation.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2015Power of Hope is the final book of the Legacy Chronicles and the better of the four book set. The hero, Jacob Hope finally becomes the person everyone who has been reading the first three book wants him to be. This book was the clearer and faster read than the others in the series; and the ending was nice and tight. The characters are very well placed and support the story. Luke Romyn packaged everything nicely and has several options if he wishes to branch out with one of the support characters as the lead.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2021I couldn’t put any of these books down! I’m not big on reading books about religious stuff (and before comments I believe in God; I just usually read a different kind of books) but this series was absolutely AMAZING!!!!! My wife loves to read so I’m going to recommend them to her as well!!!! If there were more I would have kept reading!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2019What a powerful book!! Thanks Mr. Rymyn. Every second of my reading this epic was such an immersion. The sass and quips took off like a machine gun. The love laughter, the horror and the love. All beautifully twinned throughout h each book. The characters were beloved like good friends. The evil was truly gut wrenching. Slice a good chunk of time so as to immerse yourselves in this book. You will not be disappointed

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT !!!! Fantastic I have just finished reading this final book in the chronicles and now I'm at a loss. I feel as if I have actually been along for the ride and am part of the family. Didn't want the journey to end.:(((
Just have to start them all over again. If you haven't read these books yet you have an amazing read ahead.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb ending
This was the 4th and final of the Legacy chronicles and it was a great end to the story. Jake's still a bit lost, spends lots of time wandering around but finally sees what needs to be done. Exciting to the last, this wee series was completely different from that I normally read and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
