Praying for Rain: A Dark, Dystopian Romance (The Rain Trilogy Book 1) Kindle Edition
"Consider us hooked. Addicted. Dying for more! A genius, unique premise with complex, intriguing characters, this story took us on the ride of our lives, and we CAN'T WAIT FOR MORE!!" - Max Monroe, New York Times Bestselling Author
“None of this matters, and we’re all going to die.”
With only three days left until the predicted apocalypse, the small town of Franklin Springs, Georgia, has become a wasteland of abandoned cars, abandoned homes, abandoned businesses, and abandoned people. People like Rainbow Williams.
Rain isn’t afraid of dying. In fact, she’s looking forward to it. If she can just outrun her pain until April 23, she’ll never have to feel it at all.
"Supplies. Shelter. Self-defense."
Wes Parker has survived every horrible thing this life has thrown at him with nothing more than his resourcefulness and disarming good looks. Why should the end of the world be any different? All he needs are some basic supplies, shelter, and a sucker willing to help him out, which is exactly what he finds when he returns to his hometown of Franklin Springs.
As society crumbles, dangers mount, and secrets refuse to stay buried, two lost souls are thrust together in a twist of fate—one who will do anything to survive and one who can’t wait to die.
Perhaps, together, they can learn how to live.
Before their time runs out.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Praying for Rain can be read as a standalone or as Book 1 of The Rain Trilogy. About the Author
BB was a stressed-out school psychologist and mother of two when the inspiration to write 44 CHAPTERS ABOUT 4 MEN struck. Through that process, she rediscovered her passion for writing, became dangerously sleep-deprived, and finally mustered enough courage to quit her job and become a full-time author.
BB went on to publish four more wickedly funny, shockingly steamy, and heartwarmingly autobiographical books in the 44 CHAPTERS series: SKIN, SPEED, STAR, and SUIT. Since then, she's been hard at work writing fictional stories that appeal to her love for us-against-the-world romance, including a dystopian trilogy (PRAYING FOR RAIN), a psychologist-client romantic comedy (GROUP THERAPY), and a dark mafia romance (DEVIL OF DUBLIN).

- Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2020This post may get a little wordy, so I'll put a TL:DR at the end.
.
I received an email notification that a new book by @author.bb.easton was coming out on January 30th. I've read her works before, and I'm a fan of hers, with her wonderful blend of heat and humor. The upcoming book is the third book in a series I haven't read, so I checked out the first book on Amazon to determine whether I wanted to read it.
.
Wow! When I discovered the review for Praying for Rain by @t.m.frazier, one of my Top 4 authors of all time, I knew that I NEEDED to read this series in its entirety. After reading this scorcher of a novel, I was not disappointed.
.
B.B. Easton has created a fantastic series with Rain and Wes, a world in which humanity has been warned that the Four Horsemen on the Apocalypse will be destroying the earth on April 23rd. Rain doesn't want to wait that long, until she meets Wes, the man who intends to use her until he doesn't need her. The storyline is so gripping that the reader will be unable to put the book down until the end. The few twists in the story cause just enough confusion in the reader to prevent the story from becoming staid.
.
Seeing the interaction between Rain and Wes, I was easily able to see so many similarities between them and T.M. Frazier's good girls and bad boys of Logan's Beach, Fl (the King Series) instead of Franklin Springs, GA (the Rain series). I hope neither author gets offended by the comparison, for these are both excellent reading getaways for anybody who likes a little (or a lot of) sizzle in their girl-meets-boy romances. In the world of adult romance, Easton is easily becoming one of the leaders of the genre.
.
Needless to say, this book was definitely a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ read for me, but now I have to wait until 1/16 for book #2 and 1/30 for the finale.
.
TL:DR - Got email about upcoming book. Saw amazing reviews for first book in series. Read book. Five star review.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2019Alright BB Easton...."None of this matters, and we're all going to die." That's how you start this journey we are about to go on?! What happened to our cute, crazy BB and her insane men? That's right. You upped your game and left us in this apocalypse small town in Franklin Springs, Georgia. Everyone and everything is doomed and preparing for the end. No one is going to survive and the town is desolate looming with death, rundown homes, abandoned cars and a just plain dreary world.
Everyone is dreaming of the Horsemen and how they will bring their end to the world. Why live? Why survive past 4/23? No one will. And I'm loving it!
It is 4/20 and Rain's world is about to change. She may walk into Burger Palace about to 'Apocasize' her meal, but Wes stomps in, guns blazing and will change her world when he takes her and her pills. One girl waiting for the world to end and one man looking to survive. Supplies, shelter and self defense are the 3 things on his mind and he will use anyone to get what he wants. She's just looking to forget her world and waiting for the end. What will these two bring to the story and who will survive? What would you do if you knew the date of your demise?
"Rainbow Williams is a f..... survivor. And I'm not done using her yet."
BB Easton wrote a completely different story than what I've grown accustomed to with her writing. And she killed it. She combined so many different genres and made it work. Not only is this part dystopian (without the world building), part romance (with the end of the world vibe), part dream-like paranormal (without ghosts and stuff), but it is a work of fiction that will rock your world. The two main characters have a very different view on how they are going to handle the end of the world, but they also are looking for something they didn't know they were looking for and they just might find in one another.
She wrote these characters with flaws and made them grow in this first book (that's right, this is book one of 3, so prepare yourselves). Their story is told in dual POV and I think that's important for this series. We need to hear both Wes and Rain's voices and their different takes on this crazy journey they are taking. This is Rain's town and even if she wants to give up, she's going to be the one to use her resources and toughen up. She is a quiet and sad, yet good girl, but she has a strength she will learn to use. And she's sassy. Gotta have a sassy female that may be demure but is tough as nails.
"Underneath those fake smiles and that sassy attitude is a black ocean of sadness crashing against a crumbling lighthouse of hope."
Then, on the other hand we have Wes that has been dealt a pretty crappy life and he doesn't know how to depend on anyone but himself. Use people to get what he wants because they will always leave you in the end. Team these two up and they just may make one whole person that not only wants to survive, but live!
"You saved me, Wes. And every time you look at me, you do it all over again."
Even though this is a 3 book series, I feel like this book didn't end on a HUGE cliffy. There is definitely unfinished business, but not so much that you are left reeling.
This is an exciting start and I'm curious to see what BB will bring next. The characters are great and I love their interaction. They are explosive! And resourceful. And full of flaws and pain. In this grey and morbid world, I'm happy to say I'm curious where we will go next and what's going to happen with the Horsemen and the past that showed up at the end.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2020The whole setting is very eerie. It was really interesting to read about as this book takes place in such a short time period, and a lot happens during those three days, more than you might think.
Both Rain and Wes are dealing with their own grief. You can also tell that both have secrets and everything isn't exactly what it seems. I loved having both of their point of views because that way you got to see how both of them cope with the reality of it all in different ways. Also how the way a person acts might not be how that person is actually feeling, it's just a wall that they build around themselves to make it easier, to hide that they might be close to a breakdown.
It started with Wes holding a gun to Rain's head and using her for his own benefit on his way to find shelter but then transformed to this bond they shared. They in a way found safety and hope in each other. They didn't feel so alone anymore. I guess you could say it was very bittersweet. You know they don't have a long time left and you still keep wishing that nothing happens to the characters. You treasure every moment they spend together as they try to survive and you just keep rooting for them.
Through the writing I could feel all the emotions and I love how this handles the topic of grief. Those twists nearing the end shocked me, you can't possibly figure them out... I think. I didn't at least. This was very impactful with it being only about 200 pages long, but definitely don't let the page count fool you. This book totally surprised me in so many ways and how much I ended up loving it. Highly, highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars A modern day apocalyptic romance 🙂
The books keeps you attached with that romance.
It is just "perfect". The apocalypse situation sits in right. It just shows how two different needy people can find love at the end of the world. The characters are very gripping. I like the part where wes describes about rain in details. It makes you imagine the love between them. The last day could have been more engaging but it just got over in a single page. Overall, the book is a perfect modern day apocalyptic love story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing!
Praying for Rain will knock your world off its axis!
This all-new apocalyptic romance from author BB Easton is so much more than I was expecting. This genre is new to BB and she knocked it out of the park! Once again, she has reminded me of what a brilliant talent she is, with no constraints, and the power to wield her unicorn writing magic in any direction.
This is a dark, twisted, apocalyptic romance! It is not for the faint of heart. It will make you feel anxious, scared, and dejected. The realities of what would probably happen to our society and its morals when the end of the world is approaching is truly eye opening! But fret not, because this story is also infused with BB’s signature wit and humour. It is this combination of dark and light that equals a story like you’ve never read before!
The writing in Praying for Rain is so skillful that you feel every interaction, every situation, ever character trauma as if you are right there in the story. When Rain feels discarded, you feel it in your soul. When Wes feels angry, you too see red. BB’s carefully crafted words are pulled together throughout the book with seemingly inconsequential symbols or words that give you ALL THE FEELS!
Wes Parker is a survivor! He has been through so much in his 22 years that when the end of the world is approaching he is determined to live through it. But, when Wes meets Rainbow Williams all his carefully crafted plans go out the window and instead he begins to fumble through a mass of foreign feelings and emotions. His self-realization and growth in this book is heart-wrenching, but also so very beautiful.
Rainbow Williams has given up on life! With only 3 days left until the world ends, she has accepted her fate. Her only wish is to live through the next 3 days with as little emotion, memories, and feelings as possible. That is until she meets Wes and a new hope begins to bloom within her. I feel like there is so much more to Rain then we have seen! I cannot wait to know more about her past and what makes her tick.
This book is dark. This book is thrilling. This book is filled with the unexpected and its characters are extremely DAMAGED. BB has taken her past studies/employment as a Psychologist and completely messed with my mind, but in the best possible way! It literally took me over 30 minutes to come down from the adrenaline rush I got at the end when I realized where the story was going. It was absolutely amazing!
There are not enough stars to rate this book! A standing ovation for BB Easton! I cannot wait for Fighting for Rain!

5.0 out of 5 stars 5* Apocalyptic Stars
An excellent dystopian, apocalyptic, New Adult story. This novel is gritty and raw, and set in a world where civilisation and its rules has ceased to function as the world awaits The End.
Rain and Wes are our two protagonist's who are desperately trying to outrun their nightmares and survive. These two characters are really well written. They are really likeable, really relatable and two individuals who I absolutely loved. This book flips back and forth between both of their back-stories, the present as the clock is ticking down, and the apocalyptic nightmares that are plaguing everyone's dreams.
The story is the first part of a three part story and ended on a cliffhanger. I can't wait to start book two.
I highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy off-beat, edgy and a very different take on the romance genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance with a dystopian touch
It is scary how easy I could picture a world falling apart when people believe it's going to end. BB Easton introduces us to the main characters and makes us fall in love with them within minutes. Wes and Rain stole a piece of my heart and I missed them the second I put the book down.
