Promise: A Redemption Series Prequel Kindle Edition

She’s his sister’s best friend.
She thinks he never noticed her.
She couldn’t be more wrong…

I hate Andrew Brinks.

Especially after my best friend’s older brother made it clear to anyone with a Y chromosome that I’m off-limits. I already have one incredibly overprotective father. I don’t need another person in my life doing everything in his power to keep the opposite sex away from me.

But as the summer goes on, Drew’s eyes seem to linger on my lips a little longer. His stare rakes over my long legs when he doesn’t think I’m looking. His gaze dips to my chest more than one would deem appropriate.

I try to convince myself I’m imagining things. After all, what can Mr. Popularity and star hockey player Andrew Brinks possibly see in his sister’s virgin best friend?

Turns out, he sees a lot more than I gave him credit for.

But it’ll take more than a mutual attraction for us to be together.
It’ll mean risking everything important to him.

And I’m not sure I’m worth the risk.

Promise is a prequel to T.K. Leigh's Redemption Duet. Start this second chance, best friend's brother romance today

This is a lead-in, background story of Brook & Drew. Brook is best friends with Drew’s sister, Molly, and has been since 1st grade. This book finds them all in High School, with Drew just graduated. Though they all grew up together as friends, Brooklyn has watched Drew from afar and has longed for him to be her first kiss.
Drew is tall, gorgeous, built for sin, and leaving for college soon to play D1 Hockey. Brooklyn has watched Drew with many girls, but this is the year everyone starts noticing Brook as well. She’s just shy of 16 years old, but Brook’s body has transformed as well. Guys from her class have noticed, but Drew always seems to be there to fight them off her. She doesn't understand why he’s protecting her, because she thinks she’s old enough to take care of herself. Meanwhile, Drew is discovering that he has different feelings for Brook & will not have anyone touch her but him.
They get themselves accidentally in a compromising position, which brings them a hair’s breath away from the kiss they both desperately want. Of course, it gets interrupted, and Once they separate from each other, the moment’s lost. The harder they try to forget it & avoid each other, the stronger their feelings become. Just when you think they’ll finally get their chance, something unexpected happens, leaving hurt feelings, unanswered questions and broken hearts.
This novella is the PERFECT intro to understanding the history between Brooklyn & Drew. A MUST READ before diving into “Commitment!”

I am so thankful that the prequel came before the series. Many times authors go back after a series is written and write a prequel. It annoys me, and most times I won't read them when I have already read the series.

This is a great look at what is possibly to come in this series. It set the series up extremely well. I am really looking forward to seeing what happens, I assume, in the future for these two.

This book is a little angsty and very sweet. The little peek into the past of these characters tells me I am probably in for a great ride once the other books come out!

Brooklyn Tanner and Andrew Brinks are sorta like sister and brother, but don't tell Brooklyn that. Brooklyn has had a crush on Andrew her best friend Molly's big brother for a long time. When she hit high school she was tall but had never developed but her sophomore year she developed boobs and legs and had a hour glass figure that boys and men love. So when she is left alone by her best friend while she goes across to her father's place across from the beach she gets hit on by this guy named Damian Murphy. This isn't the first time she has been hit on since she has developed but she never got embarrassed the way she had by Andrew when he sees what Damian is doing and comes to her rescue. The thing is he has noticed Brooklyn but he feels he cannot act on it because he has known her since she was like five or something when her mother died and she started hanging out with his sister Molly. They have been best friends since they were in elementary school. This is the story of how Brooklyn's attraction to Andrew comes to a ending in the summer before she goes to her Junior year in High School and Andrew goes off to college and Junior Olympics. This is the way I remember the beginning of Commitment to be. I love Brooklyn and Andrew and their story is one of drama, lies and secrets. Get this book and then read Commitment and Redemption. Good duet but I don't expect anything different from T.K. Leigh she is a great author.

This was a quick read that left the reader wanting more! This gives us a preview of all of the amazingness that is to come in the lives of these characters! The readers instantly root for Drew and Brooklyn to make it as a couple...but of course there is no easy path for them. They must battle their way through...

A great book that makes the reader one-click the next one in the series before they are even finished with the first one! Don't hesitate to grab this one and move it straight to the top of your TBR pile!

I am SO happy that this prologue was written. It’s such a great insight into Drew and Brooklyn’s story. What a sweet story of young love.

Brooklyn has been in love with her best friend Molly’s older brother for years. She’s been waiting to kiss someone special. Her first kiss should mean something and should be shared with someone like Drew. She’s dreamed about it. But Drew is out of her league. He’s the popular, handsome hockey player who can have any girl he wants. And he’ll be leaving for college soon.

Drew and Brooklyn practically grew up together and he’s always seen her as his sister’s best friend, kind of like another sister, until the summer before he goes off to college. His sister’s little friend is not so little anymore. She’s turning into quite a beautiful young woman. He’s been warned off her because she’s only fifteen but the heart wants what the heart wants.

The twists and turns that keep these two apart made my heart sad because they not only do they have so much chemisty but they also genuinely get along. I can’t wait to read more.

Young adult romance. Actually this is the story of a 15 year old high school girl and the crush she has on her best friends 18-year old brother. The worst that happens is kissing. There is mention of a sex but no descriptions like adult romance. For a novella it provides background, but could just as easily been incorporated into one book with the original story.

A lovely opening story about Brooke and Drew...I can't wait to find out what happens to them years later! This story made me think of being a teenager and how life is so different back then. And also how our feelings are so deep since we are so young. A definite must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brooklyn and Drew's story of how they met
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 30, 2018
It has been a while since reading Writing Mr Right, so forgot all about Brooklyn, Drew and Molly.

Brooklyn and Molly are best friends at high school, Drew being Molly's older brother. Drew is very protective of both girls in a big brotherly way. This summer was different as although Brooklyn had secretly loved Drew all this time, he never thought of her that way, until now. When Drew sees guy hitting on Brooklyn too hard he decides to defend her honour by breaking his nose!

This is when he realises that he feels different, but as she's only 15 and he's now 18 and going off to college can anything ever come of their relationship?

Full of angst and worrying about how everyone and everything is perceived. Can't wait for the full series!
