Faith Winters is willing to deny her very soul as an artist to save her father's winery. She has no interest in the winery but for her father's legacy. Her mother has essentially run it into the ground. Or has she? There's no love lost there. But both her parents are dead, her mother very recently. Things don't add up and she's fighting to keep the winery afloat. Nick, the Tiger is an attorney. He's drawn to her "like a moth to a flame" despite the knowledge that he's there to prove she murdered two people, his father and her mother. The most guilty are the best actresses is his motto. But things do t add up where she's concerned. She may well be completely innocent, but who committed murdered, especially when her mother appears to have been blackmailing his father. The attraction is sizzling! Undeniably hot as they circle each other, trying to figure out what "this" is. By the time they come together is combustible. He's good for her, making her creative passion bubble over. She's good for him, the softer side of him even more appealing, more human. But she's got secrets. He's lying to her. He can't forget the real reason he sought her out. They are more than sex, more than their circumstances. But what ARE they? A sprinkling of Chris and Sara, the story of Sara's discovery of Rebecca's journals, and memories of Rebecca's disappearance are haunting. Chris and Sara believe in Faith's talent as much as Nick. The Ex and her circumstances put in her mind doubt about her talent. The end of the book is a tease, not a cliffhanger per se, but now I NEED, Shameless.

    'Provocative' by Lisa Renee Jones is book One in the "White Lies Duet" series. This is the story of Faith Winter and Nick Rogers 'Tiger'. This does end with a light cliffhanger to open us up for the next installment into the "White Lies Duet".
    Nick got his nickname 'Tiger' for being a cut throat who rips your throat out. So no one stands in his way. He is a total Alpha Male too! Nick is on the hunt to find out who killed his father and possible killed Faith mother. Nick main suspect Faith..who he has only be researching her history. Nick goes forward to meet her to so that he can get a better understanding of her. When Nick arrives at the Winery he sees that Faith is being confronted by two men. Nick confronts them and turns the two men away. Faith tries to walk away from him but he goes forward to talk to her. What Nick wasn't prepared for is to be so attracted to her. Faith is like no other women he has met. In talking to her he finds she is not what he thought she would be. But that doesn't stop him from finding out the truth to what she knows or has done.
    Faith just lost her mother who didn't leave a will and left the Winery in money troubles. Faith is trying to keep the Winery going since it was her fathers. Faith herself is an artist who would rather being doing that but tries to keep the Winery going. Faith too is attracted to Nick but at this point in her life she doesn't feel that she can be involved with anyone. But Nick isn't letting up and they start to have serious feelings.
    But can Nick continue to look into Faith's part in these death with out confronting her? What will Faith do when she learns what Nick has been up to?
    This was another great, hot and exciting read by Ms. Jones. Ms. Jones books bring so much story that you know that you will be getting a great story. Loved it!

    I have had an amazing reading week this week and Lisa Renee Jones has just added another one to the pile and this is definitely my favourite of hers to date. Provocative is a romantic suspense with a whole heap of sexual tension that keeps those pages turning a mile minute. This was a book that kept my attention from the very start and held me rapt until the very end. Now I am desperate for Shameless and a few months to wait will feel like forever.

    “And just like that, Nick has proven I was right about him from the beginning. He is dark lust. He is all-consuming. He is an escape I crave. Maybe he’s even an obsession as he’d called me. But more so, he is dangerous. I sense it. I feel it like I feel this man in every part of me inside and out. But then, so am I.”

    Faith is the owner of a winery, inherited from her parents, but at heart she is an up and coming artist. Faith bleeds art and it pains her that she has had to put her career on hold while she rescues the family business her father loved so much. The winery though is thwart with problems and none more so than money, with her mother’s will in probate she is stuck between a rock and a hard place and with creditors banging down the door she is adamant to do the impossible.

    “Because you touching me still feels better than you not touching me…”

    Nick is a lawyer and one that is hugely successful and highly feared, he didn’t earn the nickname “Tiger” for nothing and more than lives up to his reputation. Nick has done his homework on Faith, he knows her inside out on paper but what he wasn’t prepared for was the connection they shared in the flesh. From the moment these two meet the pages crackle, the tension sizzles and the chemistry only flames. But this was not on Nick’s agenda. But what is Nick’s agenda?

    “That’s where we’re differing here, Faith. I’m thinking about every moment I have with you and you’re thinking about goodbye.”

    A relationship born from secrets and omissions is definitely going to have its problems and these two are guilty of this on both sides, but it is this that ramps up the suspense and intrigue as Lisa Renee Jones slowly lets slip little snippets of what each of these two are hiding. I loved how the reader is just as ignorant of the truth as the characters, and as these two are enlightened the reader is too. Each fact was safely stored and continually churning around in my brain as I try and piece together the truth just as quickly as Nick our intrepid lawyer. But, what is fact and fiction? What are truths and lies? And basically, what the hell is going on?

    “…maybe even from that very first provocative moment when I first made eye contact with Faith, my original agenda has changed. I stopped looking for ways to prove her guilt, and started looking for ways to prove her innocence. That might seem as if it works for her, but the truth is, it doesn’t. Because when I want to believe in someone and they let me down, they betray me, my wrath is vicious.”

    The chemistry between Nick and Faith is off the charts. Neither character wanting a relationship and yet both are constantly fighting the inevitable and it is this push and pull that really cemented these two as a couple I wanted to see make it. The banter and dialogue between these two is infectious and really brought these characters to life. It is this that gives them that human touch and gives the reader that all important character connection.

    “Do you know why I painted that, Tiger? Because I was trying to figure out why I want to trust you but can’t.”

    There is still a lot to come for these two and I am still battling my brain trying to fathom how and where Lisa Renee Jones is going to take their story. The suspense and intrigue was spot on and I love the fact that even having finished this book a few days ago, my grey matter is still churning away. I am desperate for Shameless which releases on July 11th, I cannot wait to see what is in store for these two.

    The heroine is Faith Winters. She is an artist who also runs her families winery. Her father left the winery to her mother with the stipulation that Faith gets it upon her death. Her mother died 2 months earlier without a will leaving the winery in limbo. Her mother had not been paying any of the bills further complicating things. The money is not in the winery's bank account and because there was no will, Faith has no access to her mothers money.

    The hero is Nick "Tiger" Rogers. He is an attorney and earned his nickname. His father died the previous month. Nick's father had been writing checks to Faith's mother for large sums of money. Nick is investigating his father's death and the connection to Faith's mother even though Nick and his father did not have a relationship.

    Nick is your typical male with a one-night no strings approach to women and sex. Faith has the same attitude but hers is because of a previous relationship gone bad....although we don't know what happened. Faith has all that behind a brick wall she throws up when she get nervous or difficult questions are asked.

    Nick is investigating his father's death. It was declared a heart attack but Nick thinks it was murder. And that Faith's mother was murdered as well. Who is the murderer? Is it Faith? But then there is this crazy chemistry between Nick and Faith. Both Faith and Nick have so many secrets they are keeping from each other. When exposed, will these secrets destroy them and what they are building? What is going on with her agent and why is her ex trying to reach her after a couple of years. What happened between Faith's father and his twin brother to cause an estrangement and why is the uncle showing up unexpectedly? Why is the bank holding up the probating of Faith's mothers estate? What are the end games by all? Well, you just have to read to get answers.

    Oh boy oh boy what a story . Faith always wanted to be an artist growing up she lived with her parents at the winery they owned . Although she adored her father unfortunatly he really was not in favour of her pursuing her dream of becoming an artist he wanted Faith to take over the winery after his days , her mother on the other hand was totally different , throughout her parents marriage her mother had many affairs which her father knew about but seemed to ignore . Unable to stay at home and be witness to her mothers adulterous ways she left and went to college to pursue her career . Unfortunately her father passes away and Faith has to return to the winery as her mother is seemingly running the business into the ground but her mothers life was also cut short by a heart attack . As her mother did not have a will things get very complicated as the bank refuse to release any funds to her . Needing money to pay the debtors Faith realises that she must return to painting . Nick “Tiger “Rogers is a very wealthy ruthless lawyer who’s father has only recently died of a heart attack when he does some digging he discovers that he was somehow he was involved with Faiths’ mother having written several large checks to her . Nick is convinced that somehow Faith is responsible for both his father and her mothers deaths ,so he sets about to get close to her and expose her but obviously he doesn’t let on who he is . All doesn’t go to plan as they get closer he realises that he’s falling for her but with all the secrets and lies when they are finally uncovered she’s going to end up hating him . This is a fantastic story , full of intrigue ,multilayered characters , suspense and very hot encounters between Faith and Nick , and I for one have no idea which way this is going to end or indeed who is guilty . The letter that Nick finds at the end of book one reopens his earlier suspicions ......looking forward to book two.
