On a Jade Moon between the stars, Cha Ming finds true love. But can he save her?

Cha Ming’s qi core is broken. Practicing martial arts is difficult and painful. But the Monkey King is fading fast, and he’ll need something stronger than mortal medicine to recover.

To that end, Cha Ming must cross the Bridge of Stars. The competition is stiff, and it will be hard to pass, even with the three-tailed fox Huxian by his side. It’s a good thing he meets a pretty lady who’s only too happy to help.

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

I’m Patrick Laplante, and I write cultivation fantasy. In cultivation stories, the main character powers up and trains all the time to fight even stronger villains. Think Dragon Ball Z. Or Naruto. Or any RPG game.

I wasn’t always a writer. I started off my adult life as a humble engineer. A lot of people say it's reflected in my writing, so if that's something that resonates with you, give my books a try.

I like games. Board games. Role-playing games. Computer games. You name it. I like strategy games like Chess and Go as well. I used to do martial arts, but then I got injured too often, so I don’t do too much of that anymore.

There is nothing on this earth more satisfying than reading a good book. You know the kind I’m talking about – it takes your heart and smashes it to pieces, then builds you a new heart. A better heart.

That’s the kind of book I look for as a reader. It’s also the kind of book I try to deliver as a writer.

A mythic love story. A man and his fox companion and a princess. Oh, and of course a rabbit. Great battles and a lot of cultivation. I enjoyed the story. The subjects are deep and emotional. I think the author handles it well without coloring it overly much with his personal beliefs. I could be wrong about that. The series and the book are well worth reading. I keep wondering how it will stay engaging as the power levels rachet up. But 6 books in it's been handled well so far. I did have a little incredulity early in the book but it settled down after I got into it.

Following Du Cha Ming as he puts his future on the line and truly opens his heart for the first time we learn about matters of the heart, hope love faith, doubt and bitter calculation. We see the return of Yu Wen and Hong Xin adding some other great personality. A few points could have used some small clarification (like runic fragment myriad truth diagram relationship to runic arts like talisman/formation and fuxia's library. Also how can Yu Wen teach Du Cha Ming in Fuxia and then now claim to not know how to find a formation node? Definitely recommend reading all of these books though as the plot just keeps getting better!

This one was my favorite of the entire series. Each book has been a better story than the previous fantastic book. The heroes are not all powerful except when they team up as a group. Even when this happens there are severe consequences that makes you feel hope, loss, achievement, and failure. Duality at its finest. Superb effort

This book is a good installment in there wonderful, non face obsessed Wuxia tale that is painting the mists. I've read quite a few Wuxia stories and although many are addicting, most leave much to be desired from their storytelling. However, this is not such a case. Instead, this novel has both triumphs and tribulations, struggles and character development.

A fantastic book that made me both dread what might happen, but also hope

The Last 20 pages were harder than any other book in my life. The tears shred was plentiful.

I can only say that you're a great writer

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read for fans of will wight

I’ve read the last six books in this series and this is the first one I reviewed. This series is great in the sense that it develops characters with a depth that is rarely seen by any other than master story tellers. Not only is it an entertaining read but the spiritual insights and emotional discoveries make me think the author is wise beyond the pages of his stories. The only hesitation I had to writing a 5 star review was the struggle I had to understand the complexities of the cultivation hierarchy as well as the focus on Buddhist numbers like 108 etc. I’m sure the focus is relevant and important but it got confusing when using the different significant numbers like 12, 1080, 100,008 etc etc I’m usually a very perceptive reader but I find myself hesitating on the descriptions of the different formations and significant numbers, instead I skim over than info and follow the flow of the battle or instance using the descriptive setting as opposed to the technical details of cultivation.

Best book of the series so far; I enjoy reading the characters being tempered with their personal battles. There might have been tears freely flowing at the end on my account.

Honestly, five stars is a bit of an understatement. The pacing is excellent, the world is amazing, the characters are well developed and each book in the series is better than the last. Heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Laplante for sharing this tale and can't wait for the next installment!
