Pursuing: An Alluring Series Novel Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 187 ratings

"I fell in love with a brown-eyed angel in the middle of a football field, and I hadn't even talked to her yet. All it took was her laugh." - Mason Connor

Professional football player, Mason Connor, had the perfect life. Blessed with good looks, crazy skills on the field, and more money than he knew what to do with, it never occurred to him something was missing. Not until he saw her.

Looking out over a field of green, he saw his future and knew his world was about to change. He just had no idea his angel would put up such a fight. A fight he planned on winning.

"I don't want to like you, Mase, but I'm afraid I already do and that scares me." - Joanna Welch

Joanna Welch has had two relationships in her life, both with the popular-sexy-jock type. Neither had ended well. So when the attractive and cocky Pursuers quarterback began pursuing her, she wasn't interested in experiencing a three-peat.
However, the more time she spent with Mase, the harder it was to pretend he was only a sexy smile and hot body. He was funny, charming, and smart, too.

Fumbling her stay-away plan with her heart in danger of being intercepted, Jo was worried she was about to get sacked.
Only Mase wasn't just looking to score...

He had another kind of championship ring in mind.

This is a full-length, steamy, contemporary romance. While Pursuing can be enjoyed as a stand-alone, it is part of a series started with Alluring and contains some spoilers.

Sarah Curtis is a writer of all things romance. She loves nothing more than a sexy alpha male who falls hard for their heroine, almost always in spite of themselves!

A life-long resident of Southern California, Sarah shares her writing den with her childhood sweetheart and very own alpha male. When she’s not writing or dreaming up plotlines you can find her wrangling her plethora of very spoiled felines—she currently has five, yes you read that correctly, furry companions. Sarah is a reader before anything else, and her TBR mountain is higher than Everest. She’s also addicted to watching cooking competitions, especially involving baking! Of her own admission, she rarely cooks, but she’s up for the occasional birthday cake for her children as long as it involves the opening of a box.

This is a reread of Pursuing and I have to say that I love Mason Connor now more than ever!

Jo’s past relationships have left her unable to trust a certain type of man. She’s determined to not make the same mistakes again. So when Mason walks onto the football field with his dazzling smile and sexy presence, she instantly puts up her guards. However, before she knows it, Mase has finagled his way into a dinner date and then he’s brokered a deal with her that she finds impossible to say no to.

As soon as Mase laid eyes on her he knew that she was his. Unfortunately, when he attempts to get to know her she shuts him down pretty quickly. With his easy charm and quick wit he doesn’t have to work at gaining a woman’s attention but with Jo he’s willing to put in the hard work to win her over. Soon, he wants it all, but in order to have it he’s got to prove to her that she can trust him.

I absolutely loved this couple together. Mase was so totally dedicated to Jo and intent on winning her over, not just for a night but forever. He’s the true definition of an alpha hero and each time that part of him reared itself I found myself grinning from ear to ear. Jo was a strong independent heroine, a social worker for child protective services, and had a heart that needed to give and receive love. Her past mistakes made it hard for her to allow it free reign and she struggled to learn to accept what Mase was not only telling her, but showing her as well.

This is such a perfect book to curl up with and just simply enjoy. The angst is relatively low, the steam is off the charts sizzling, and the characters are so real you’ll wish they were your friends. I loved absolutely everything about this book but add on an epilogue that was perfection as it gave us a look at characters from previous books as well, and I was in book heaven.

Mason & Jo's story was a fabulous, random find! It's book 3 in a series, but can be read as a standalone (I hadn't read the other books & I wasn't lost at all, AND the way characters from other stories were written in was very smooth).

This story would make a great recovery read - it's quick & fairly light, altho Jo has some things to work through. It's definitely a story of PURSUIT. Mase & Jo are together for the whole story, getting to know one another, building their relationship & it's a sweet w/ STEAMY TIMES read. Also has a great wrap up ending, which I loved! : )

This is the third and final in this series, and the better of the three. The writing wasn't up to expectations for the first two, but I recommend this series as a quick ok read.

This is a new author to me and I am very impressed. Mace is a star quarterback and Jo is a social worker. When they meet he is dumbstruck and pursues her with dogged determination. We met Mace in the two other books in the series and he seemed like a crazy goofball. But when he gets serious, watch out. Highly recommended.

Pursuing is book three in the Alluring series by Sarah Curtis. I have previously read all the books in this series, both books that came before and the novella that comes after. I finally came back to read this one and finish off the series. I adore this cover and since football season is just getting going, this was the perfect time.

Joanna “Jo” Welsh has lived in Las Vegas all her life. She has worked for Child Protective Services for six years and loves her job. She has bought herself a small starter home and loves her life. Jo has had two serious relationships, both with the “jock” type of guy. The last one which was in college, left her feeling like a fool when she discovered her ex had been cheating from the start. She has vowed never to let herself feel that way again, and to stay far away from jocks.

Her boss has volunteered her to be a liaison between CPS and a sports camp run by the quarterback of the Las Vegas football team. She knows the kids who participate from the homes she manages will love it so she doesn’t really mind. But, not being one that really follows football, she definitely wasn’t prepared for the sexy quarterback on the field running the camp!

Mason “Mase” Connor loves football. He also loves giving back to the Las Vegas Community and this sports camp is one of his favorite ways. When he saw the newest arrival of kids, he saw her. All it took was one look and he could see his entire future. Mase might have been a little wilder when he first started professional football but he’s not any more. But he had never found anyone that he felt like could be someone special to him. Until her. Only she didn’t seem interested. Maybe a few glances but she kept her distance. That’s okay. He was up for the challenge.

“I’m coming for you, angel, and make no mistake, I plan on winning you.”

First, I LOVED Mase. This man was everything I adore in a perfect book boyfriend. He was a dirty talker, jealous and possessive as heck, bossy, but also loved so big and so strong, leaving no question as to what he wanted and how he felt.

“Mase on a mission was an unstoppable force.”

I had a little bit of trouble with Jo in the beginning. She was so bent on not letting Mase in, on keeping her walls up due to her previous experiences. I never like it when a main character judges a potential love interest by her/his previous hurts. But Mase was persistent. He never doubted his abilities in wearing her down and winning her over. I did enjoy seeing Jo grow throughout this book. I also loved her dedication to the children she cared for. She loved them all and did everything in her power to make their lives better.

This was a sexy, sweet romance that I really did enjoy. I also loved getting some glimpses of the couples from the other books. This also includes the sweetest epilogue. I love it when I finish a book that way and feel all warm and fuzzy.

I am in love with Mase and Jo. You must read this book and if you haven't then you need to read the whole series. I am glad we got to see what the other couples future looked like too. I am a huge fan of Sarah's and can't wait to read her other books.

I loved that all of the hot alpha-males, Jackson, Gage and Mase all fell head over heels in love with Alexis, Cassie and Jo as soon as they saw them! They all had to step up their games and convince these strong, independent, sexy women that they were worth trusting their hearts to them. This book is Mase and Jo's story and it has everything: love, romance, danger, troubled teenagers, football and a life and death situation that had me on the edge of my seat!

Could understand what a previous reviewer said about the books being similar, but regardless of this, they were also different enough that I still really enjoyed reading them and I am sure I will be reading them again in the future. Would definitely recommend this author. 💕
