What a stellar debut by a talented and promising author! QUAKE, by Jacob Chance, the first of a two-part series has a unique premise and a compelling storyline. The synopsis was intriguing, and the book lives up to its promise; it's a perfect balance of passion, sexual tension, and lingering suspense.     This is the story of Kyle McKenzie, an ex-cop turned private investigator and Janny Moore, the young lady who Kyle is obsessed with and desperate to get to know. I’m a sucker for stories told from a dual point of view and couldn’t have asked for more when I soon realized that this was how it was going to be. Familiarizing myself with each of them and what they were thinking as the story unfolds literally had me stuck to the pages. And the beginning! Wow, even though they hadn’t quite met, to say it was titillating is putting it mildly!

    “I’m glad I noticed you sitting here. I didn’t get your name the other night and I regretted it.”

    The chemistry between them is palpable throughout the read; however, I sensed that there was more going on than just two people’s deep attraction for one another. Even though Kyle is a strong alpha male, I could feel a sensitive side to him which was one of the reasons I connected to him so easily. Probably why this young sassy gal, Janny, was affected by him, too. She thought she knew what she wanted but Kyle throws her a curve-ball.

    There is a back story and it’s fair to say one shouldn't be fooled into thinking it's a run of the mill romantic erotic book. It’s so much more than that. There were times as things progressed that I had many mixed feelings regarding the depths of their emotional level causing some shout out loud moments. Believe me, that got me a couple of strange looks from my better half! What I can say is being testament to the author’s beautiful flowing storytelling technique and his ability to grab my attention will hopefully be the same for many other readers.

    “We’re eating breakfast.”
    “That’s not what I meant. What do you want from me, from us?”

    Mystery and intrigue along with secrets and lies abound. Half the time, I found myself cursing since unexpected happenings frustrated me. And I have no doubt whatsoever that these details were the making for such a good read. Delving into it, I easily forgot my surroundings. Alas, when real life got in the way is when I became aware that I had to put this unputdownable book down! The supporting characters are an interesting bunch of people and I liked how they worked into the story. Add the right mix of romance, angst and hotness and oh my, no shortage of hotness here, had me entranced.

    Sometimes it's very difficult to convey how much you love a book, how it makes you feel and how impressive the creation is at drawing you in. Jacob Chance certainly has the talent to do just that. I highly recommend readers to take a chance. (No pun intended!) I look forward to seeing what comes next and I predict a very rosy future in the indie author world for Jacob. I’ve struggled to pick up another book and the only solution was to go back and read Quake.

    So, my first book by Jacob Chance was Delve. That said I just had to go back and read Quake and Quiver to catch up. Delve can be read as a standalone however I recommend reading the Quake series beforehand. Doing so will only make your experience that much better.

    Quake was intense. The romance between the H/h was passionate, erotic and sensual. There was suspense going on that had me freaking out at times. I would also say, in my opinion, that there was a bit of thriller in this book as well. For a first book, I was very impressed by this author. I admit I am not a huge fan of suspense without romance but I would read this author regardless. How can I say that after reading only one book? At the time of this review, I can truthfully say that I have read, Quiver and Delve and I am a fan.

    This book features Kyle and Janny. These are both characters with devastating pasts. Kyle and Janny both had to deal with loss and grief. I loved that this book was fast-paced and I finished it in a couple of hours, giving me plenty of time to read Quiver directly after. Yeah after that cliffhanger there was no way I could go to sleep without finding out what happened.

    I'll say that Kyle and Janny were perfect together and for each other. I felt the connection between them; it was solid and believable. Not once did I doubt their love, even through the bad times. There are several obstacles thrown at them. I experienced the angst. There were secrets, making for a not-so-pretty reaction when revealed. There were plenty of OMG and WTF moments as well. Something else I loved about this novel was having both Kyle and Janny's perspectives. I don't enjoy books as much where there is only a single POV. I need to be inside the H/h's heads in order to connect to both.

    Janny was adorable, sweet and kind and I absolutely adored her. Kyle was sexy, alpha, dominant and very intense. He was crazy in love with Janny and I loved his protective and possessive side. I don't want to say too much more since this is a short novel and fast-paced. I will just warn you that there is a throw-your-Kindle across the room cliffhanger. Thank God I downloaded both books because I would have gone crazy waiting. I. Am. Not. a fan of cliffhangers. That said I will just mention a second time that for a first novel, this book was very very good!

    Well what can I say about this book, finally got to read it after sitting on iPad for weeks well I finally did it and wished I hadn't waited so long.

    Love this book, had so much in it, so much going on and certainly did not drag kept me interested the whole time to the point I knew I needed to sleep but didn't needed to finish it.

    Well done Jacob Chance on this fantastic novel and creating such admirable characters. Janny and Kyle both had crap happen in the past and find each other which I always love that type of story.

    I loved that there was a lot of different things going on, angst, health problems, dirty sex (which never hurts) and suspense loved it.

    I hate cliffhangers and the fact this one ended on one I hate and love, even though I could read the prologue to the next book I didn't because I love the suspense of what happened and will wait for the next book I have too :)

    So if you haven't read this then do it and if your thinking about reading it just stop thinking and do it

    I was lucky enough to be gifted a copy of Quake.
    From the first page I was gripped. I loved the voyeuristic element of the first chapter it was a scorching opening scene and it set the pace for the rest of the book.
    Ex-cop Kyle McKenzie is co-owner of KD Investigations and when he catches sight of Janny Moore he is beyond taken back by her. When they finally meet face to face sparks are set in motion that undoubtedly sets everything on fire around them.
    I loved the connection Kyle and Janny had, they kept me enthralled until the very end. I loved Kyle's character he is dominant, broody and caring. I found within the first few chapters I wanted to hug him and my heart ached for his physical and emotional pain that he feels.
    Quake is a fantastic book, it is fast paced, written with a good amount of detail and flows brilliantly.
    Jacob Chance writes with a directness that is heady and exciting. I was able to imagine easily the scenes and feelings he was portraying through his words. A fantastic debut novel Jacob Chance and I'm excited to read more of your work, thank you for sharing Quake.

    This is the first time I've read anything written by this author.
    Janny is a young college students who is ready to embark on a full time career.
    Kyle is an ex cop who is now a private investigator.
    They meet and an instant attraction is evident. Both are hot, sexy people who are free to explore a relationship. Communication at times is a hurdle in this relationship.
    There are a few twists and turns to make it interesting however it's the cliffhanger ending that really packs a punch.

Surveillance is installed in the house and THIS is how Kyle sees Janny for the first time. Some sexually intense moments in secret are shared, feeding the drive for him to one day meet her in person.

    "She never set eyes on me. She has no idea I exist...but she will."

    Kyle was asked to meet his kid sis and her annoying best friend at a bar. To escape the bustling crowd and said friend he beelines for the nearest exit and here he finally has the meeting he's been waiting for.

    Janny Moore is a senior at Boston University with only a few more months before she graduates. She has an apartment on campus with her best friend Elle but also stays with her brother Bryan and his wife Sharon from time to time. Her first chance encounter with Kyle leaves her reliving each and every minute detail until fate brings the two together again. They start talking, meeting each other proper and make plans for a date.

    I have to stop the recap of the story here cause if I start to go into more of the story I'll start telling you about the hotter than hell exchanges these two have in detail and seriously...you need to read of them the first time on your own. What I will share is there bond grows fast and furiously until one small overlooked detail threatens to blow their love affair sky high with damaging results.

    And the ending....make sure you have tissues and a bottle of wine...that's all I'm saying!!!

    As a debut novel this was very well written I must say. The flow of the story captured me from page 1, the conversation between the characters was realistic..in they had the usual first time meeting introductions and first date script. I truly enjoyed the progression of Kyle and Janny's story. And yes Kyle's way of taking charge of the situation was VERY FREAKING HOT!!!

    Now here's what I was a little "Really?" on. The overlooked detail scene mentioned before was a little flat...for me I needed more intense moments on his part. And what came after...I understand why and the reason for it but it was kinda out of the blue and it finished as fast as it started. You'll understand what I'm talking about when you read the story. smile emoticon:)

    I would definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone and will be counting the months, days and hours until I can read book 2!!!
