4.4 out of 5 stars 1,256 ratings

A small-town, secret-baby, second-chance standalone romance.

“Representing the most perfect example of quality or class” ~ Quintessential

A trip back to the small Indiana town of Riverbend to finalize my grandmother’s last will and testament throws my world off its axis. I wasn’t prepared to learn the stipulations of her will or that she’d left her beloved mercantile Quintessential Treasures to my college summertime love, Kandace Sheers.
Imagine my greater surprise when I learn about the secret that’s been roaming Riverbend for the last five years. Here are a couple of hints:
She’s five years old.
She has her mother’s silky auburn hair and my golden eyes.
The answer is simple.
I take responsibility for the girl and go back to Chicago where my life awaits.
It turns out, Grandma had other plans because life’s never that simple.

Have you been Aleatha’d?

Enjoy this sweet, funny, and sexy, secret-baby, second-chance, contemporary stand-alone romance that brings back the feelings of what it’s like to be young and in love. A stand-alone and one of Aleatha Romig’s ‘Lighter Ones,’ QUINTESSENTIALLY - the ONE.

Sweet & Sexy Read
I can't believe this is the first time I am reading any of Aleatha Romig's lighter books, I love her dark and suspenseful novels but this lighter side is just as wonderful and I am happily along for the ride. This is a sweet and sexy read, I instantly fell in love with Dax and Kandace. We start the story with them as teens spending their summer together before he has to leave his grandparents home for college and we get to witness their young love bloom into more. He returns twice more once after his grandfather passes, which was really sad, and then when his grandmother passes which is where all the fun really begins LOL Aleatha did a wonderful job with taking us on this journey of young love and discovery showing us how just because we think we have everything we wanted you may not realize what you were missing until it was right in front of you. And I for one loved it. Quintessentially the one is the 17th book in the ABCs of Love series, which is written by various authors. Each book is a complete standalone so don't be afraid to jump in and out at any point of the series, this is the first one that I have read but I do have plans to read a few more that are currently on my TBR list. If you enjoy Steamy New Adult Contemporary Romances, Second Chance Romances, Secret Baby Romances, or Small Town Romances I would Recommend this book to you. Happy Reading!!!

What do you do when you find your love as a teenage, spend every Summer together, then you don't and it's too late. If you're Aleatha, you write about it, and I'm glad she dis this. Dax and Kandi have so much chemistry, and more than that, the banter between is great. Their spice is cute and hot. This one of those stories that plays like a movie in my head. I can see it all. Enjoy.

Kandace and Dax were teen lovers. Dax wanted to follow in his parents footsteps to be a lawyer so he left Kanda early to pursue that dream. He returned his senior year of college and they resumed their romance, which unknown to him resulted in a pregnancy. Kandace didn't want Dax to not fulfill his dream so she never told him about their daughter, Molly. Flash forward 5 years and Dax is back in town to close out his Grandmother's estate. He learns about Molly while scanning through pictures from his Grandmother's collection. The story moves through their rekindling of the romance and discovery of their love never having died. A wonderful read. Well written by Ms. Romig. There are just a few graphic sex scenes for those sensitive to such scenes.

Beautiful story about two young people who spend their summers together. He is going away to college, wanting her to go with, but she stays there and goes to school. Years pass, broken hearts, and then reunited by a passing of a loved one. Now as surprises revealed, feelings are being brought back to surface, and that is what happens when you are in love with the same person for 6 years or more. Beautiful story, loved it.❤️

3.0 out of 5 stars frustrating (spoilers)

I have a love hate relationship with the secret baby trope and sadly this is one of the reasons. Don’t get me wrong it started off cute and reasonable. Kandace is small town homegrown, dreams of owning her own shop and raising a family in the same way she was raised. Dax is a city kid sent to his grandparents farm every summer. Both know their love is only summer romance from the start so they treat it as such but year after year they keep gravitating to each other. Until they’re reunited for a sad reason and one last time together leaves a-little more than Kandace bargained for. This is where I get super annoyed, Dax is treated as the villain because he never came back to town and claimed his woman and their love child. BUT NOONE questions Kandace for NEVER reaching out to tell Dax and she even makes his elderly grandmother swear never to tell him for five years! Five years!! I couldn’t back her up after reading that. Overall it’s cute but truthfully the majority of the chemistry is in the beginning of the story. Don’t let me sway you though I have absolutely loved books some people have loathed. That’s why reading is wonderful there is something for everyone. I will still try out more from this author I think my dislike was more with the trope than the writing itself.

My first “taste” of this author didn’t disappoint. Well developed and mostly likeable characters, and plenty of twists to keep the reader guessing whether the “predictable outcome” will actually happen. Liked the image of small town unity, support and benefits, although my experiences of small towns never mirrored these!
Written from the female’s perspective, perhaps?

When you start reading a book and can't put it down; every character comes alive. your feeling as if you know each one and want the best for them this is that book. Beautifully written. There’s something magical about the way a book just transports you to new worlds, the way the authors seemed to paint over reality and convince you that you could do anything, be anything. Dax and Kandice were meant for each other, and no matter what they had to deal with in life, as long as they had each other,
