Rule Forty-Seven Kindle Edition

4.1 out of 5 stars 773 ratings

Logan is out of options.

His mother's new husband is awful, he can't find a paying job, and he's run out of couches to surf on. Desperate, he ends up in the unlikely position of standing on his ex-stepfather's porch holding all his worldly belongings in two cardboard boxes.

Craig is sure taking Logan in is a terrible idea.

It's been six years since he's seen his ex-wife's kid, and Craig hasn't forgotten the trouble the boy caused him. But it's cold out and Logan is clearly at the end of his rope. Craig decides in a fit of charity to help Logan get back on his feet. All he has to do is obey the rules.

Rules are meant to be broken.

Take one desperate Millennial and one bored Gen Xer. Add in an old grudge, guilt, unwelcome feelings, an inconvenient interest in Daddy kink, a need for discipline and regular meals, and punishment for rule-breaking. Shake well. Expect explosive results.

Rule Forty-Seven is a stand-alone 11k short with a May/December romance, sexy-fun times, snark, and a HEA.

Lynn Van Dorn was born in Ohio and left it for the wilds of Chicago in her reckless youth. She wanted to become a fairy princess when she grew up, but since there are few openings for that position, she makes do with being a writer.

In her spare time, she drinks entirely too much tea, snugs her cats, fills her house with flamingos, loves her husband and son, reads voraciously, and avoids housework. She loves to watch anime, travel, knit, bake cookies, and conjure up happy every afters for handsome men who have trouble getting there on their own.

Completely silly and yet it somehow works. If you don't like the idea of daddy kink with a real ex step father, then don't go here, but if you can live with that, then this is a strangely sweet book. Lynn Van Dorn has a confident writing style. I have read her previous trilogy and really enjoyed it. This is lighter and less angsty but still hot. Very short read, but I still rate it a keeper.

3.5 Hot Daddy stars!! 🤩💕🔥🔥. Likable MCs with sizzling chemistry makes this a steamy May-December Novella. Wish it was longer so that the background and story could have been built a little slowly.. rather than what felt like insta-lust to insta-commitment. Nevertheless it was still a great short with plenty of steam.. 😉. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a light read with a fairly mild daddy-kink. 😊

This was a very quick read. It started off strong and had so much potential but, like a lot of novellas, it wasn’t long enough. I wanted more! There talk of doing dirty things but we never get to experience them and all of a sudden the epilogue is set 10 years in the future. I wasn’t satisfied by that, I wanted to know what they went through to get there.

This seemed like an appetizer that promised a filling main dish that was never served.

Logan and Craig are so hot that my phone slipped out of my hands reading this (not really but, you get the idea...). Logan and Craig were once stepfather and stepson. After a situation that Logan blames himself for, years later might I add, Craig and Logan’s mom divorce. Eventually, Logan finds himself back in Craig’s life but in a whole new light. With Logan wanting to be dominated (bedroom and in life) and Craig beginning to slowly unleash a part of himself that he hid away for so long, this makes one amazing story. Too short but I think that’s a good thing as it means Lynn did her job just right ❤️

After reading the previous reviews, I quite frankly, was expecting something much hotter and "dirtier". I didn't expect the quality of writing, that is quite difficult to pull off a short story like this. One that has the bare minimum of sex, to tell the story. I was pleasantly surprised.

The writing and character building was wonderful. The story, just complex enough to make it totally enjoyable. My only complaint, is I wanted more.

I wanted more of how things continued after their first encounter and agreement. But honestly, the story and characters were written so well, none of that was necessary.

I really need to read more of Lynn Van Dorn's books and stories.

And Lynn, if you choose to revisit Craig's and Logan's story, I d be the first in line to read it.

This started out so well, but then stopped! It was so short! I know it was a novella, but it started out like a full novel with slow development, so I feel like I got cheated. It didn't even slow down, it just stopped right after their first encounter, where Craig is still questioning himself, and jumped to an epilogue set 10yrs later that had the same tone and conversations happening between the MCs - aside from a quick reference to age and grey hair for Craig, it was as if they and their relationship hadn't changed.

The backstory for them also seemed unnecessary and wasn't closed out at all. Something like that is hard to come back from and given the police and courts were involved, would have massive impact on reputation. To so easily forgive and move on would be hard, especially without a detailed conversation between them at the very least.

    4.0 out of 5 stars 3.5* Stepcest..Daddy/boy..age-gap - s’all good ;)

Well this surprised the hell out of me. I didn’t expect much more than a kinky bit of the forbidden between 22yo Logan and his 45yo ex-stepdad, Craig, so was pleasantly surprised by just how sweet it was too. Don’t get me wrong, it’s primarily a heavenly slice of smut with a side order of spanking, but there was enough backstory and characterisation to get me emotionally involved and actually care whether or not they could turn all the rules and role-play into something real and with longevity. And the short but satisfying epilogue was the cherry on top.

I love all three tropes of stepcest, Daddy/boy and age-gap when written well, but sadly that’s not always the case, however this author managed to combine the lot without it feeling rushed or totally implausible, and in so few pages to boot. Also…not massively keen on pet names usually…but Rabbit? too damn cute.

This was my second book by the author and I really enjoyed it. It was short, steamy and despite its small size, it managed to tell one hell of a story.

One Daddy and his Bratty Boy.
This short story is hot, sweet and quick. I would love to see a longer version of this story, I quite liked these two characters.

Logan's Mum's newest husband is a bit of a religious homophobe, he doesn't feel at all welcome so he tracks down one of his past step-fathers, one he particularly liked. Things are strict but acceptable until the walls are down, then it gets downright sexy and loads of fun, you know what I mean. A very short but fun read, sexy, salty and don't forget rule 47!

Logan needs Craig to make it right & Craig doesn’t know how much he needs Logan, until it comes to Rule 47. A sweet sexy short read with Daddy/boy kink. Love it
