This book is my happy place! Perfection. 6 stars. I cannot believe how awesomely amazing and entertaining this was. Rock Bottom Girl was everything I could have wanted and so much more. An absolutely stellar story and I had a blast reading it. Holy mother this was so hysterically funny and awesome. I loved, loved, LOVED Marley. She was so relatable and had the best internal dialogue. I highlighted the heck out of this book because there were just so many awesome things that had me smiling and laughing. She's got such a big heart and I had a major girl crush happening. And Jake. Oh, Jake. Sweet, swoon-worthy, sexy, Jake. Confident, caring, full of heart Jake. I could not get enough of him! Marley and Jake had off the chart’s chemistry. I loved the build to their fake relationship turned real, the heat (which was smokin’ hot!), watching them open up and grow, and it's done in this fantastically witty way. It was everything. Marley and Jake are amazing, yes, but there is so much more. It's all these great characters in their community. It was this fantastic, eclectic, well-rounded group with memorable and distinct personalities. Marley’s parents, the soccer girls, her best friend Vicky, even high school bullies and nemesis’s. People coming together, opening up, sharing, and growing up. There were so many funny scenes and important bonding moments. There were just so many really great things happening. Yes, I was laughing my butt off but I could also feel Marley’s emotion and so got her. There was so much evolution for these characters, it really was a wonderful thing to read and be a part of. The writing was stellar. The flow, the build, the descriptions, the humor. I loved the timing of learning what happened in their past. I pretty much turned the page like a madwoman wanting to know all the things. So, obviously, I loved this down to my core. It made me feel all kinds of gushy and happy. This was everything. One of my FAVORITE books of the year!

    This story was really good. I have never in all the books that I have read. Read a book with the best explanation of a sport that was going on at that moment. I felt like I could see everything that was going on on that soccer field. Kudos to this author explaining play-by-play. The romantic story was so good. Spice was perfect.     I really enjoyed the first 2/3rds, but the third act kind of tanked it for me 🫠

    I think it’s a personality/emotional maturity thing for me. I’m not a fan of grown adult women being told “I love you” to their face, only for them to turn around and be like “they couldn’t really love me, they’re confused”. Especially in their mid-to-late 30s. 😵‍💫

    The Psych major in me is like: “Actually dude - let her go. Let her swim around in rock bottom for a bit and then invest in a few months-years of counseling before you try to make this work. In the mean time, feel free to go find someone who won’t require you to be the sole source of their sense of self esteem for the next 40 years, if your sanity makes it that far.”

    Again, it’s me - not the book. Lucy is a clearly a skilled, established, and well renowned author. It’s just a a personal pet peeve of mine (in real life) for grown adults to actively refuse to take any steps or any measure of responsibility to address their glaring insecurities. 😬

    Were it not for that part of the arc, it would’ve been a solid 4 🌟s for me! It was cute, fun, light, and the characters were distinctive and quirky. So much to love here. It was my first Lucy Score and I may try another one in the future sometime if I can be convinced they’re not all about 30 year olds with the emotional maturity of a middle schooler.

    This is the first Lucy Score book I've read. It won't be the last. It covered a topic which a lot of people deal with. Mean spirited, unkind people that make others miserable. It was side-splitting funny with great dialogue. I loved the characters of Jake and Marley. How Jake showed Marley how great she was he encouraged her to believe in herself and helped give her self confidence. I loved how she encouraged her girls to fight and helped them to be kind and show team spirit. Thoroughly enjoyed this book.

    This was another fun, engaging, swoon-worthy and emotional read by Lucy Score! I love sports romances but the ones that have a girl soccer coach hit different and Marley was a spectacular one at that! I loved Jake, he was the perfect mix of sweet, adorable, grumpy and swoony! He was just so awesome and I couldn't help but love him the second he was on page! Marley has some self-esteem issues and thought that she was always destined to botch things up but this time with the help of her wholesome team of rabid teenage girls, she finally got a reality check that not everyone's life around her is as perfect as they portray. I really enjoyed the setting of the small town and the way all the side characters came together like a huge happy family in the ending was so heartwarming! I couldn't describe how much I loved every single side character (with the exception of some bitter characters) along with Marley & Jake! I was obsessed with this story and I didn't want it to end but the bonus epilogue gave me a sense of satisfaction and close and made my heart swell with happiness for Marley & Jake's little family! I loved every minute of this story and just could not get enough of it

    It’s a realistic story, with funny characters that experiment feelings and situations that at some point everyone has felt. And even if it’s full of humor, it also shows the way women can be towards other sisters. The importance of communication, the power of sorority and to always change perspective are the main things this book gave me.

    It’s funny, interesting and original.
