Ward Of The FBI: An Urban Fantasy Action Adventure (School of Necessary Magic Raine Campbell Book 1) Kindle Edition
Raine Campbell never knew she was special until her dormant magic unleashed to protect her friends.
But it couldn’t be contained or controlled.
Enter the School of Necessary Magic, where magical teens are taught to master their abilities and maybe learn some math.
During a forbidden trip into the massive underground city beneath the school –– off limits to freshman –– Raine discovers druids are disappearing. And no one seems to care.
Refusing to stand by and ignore it like everyone else, she dives into an increasingly dangerous plot to rescue them before the balance the druids maintain tips into chaos.
But doing so requires breaking rules that could lead to her expulsion and threatens to end her dream of working as a witch for the FBI, following in the footsteps of her father and uncle.
Join Raine on an action-packed adventure of magic and mayhem.
After all rules are just guidelines, right?
Say hello to old friends and meet the new freshmen class at the School of Necessary Magic.
NOTE: While the series continues in the same world with some returning characters, it does stand alone. No prior experience necessary.

About the authors
Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore in the U.S. but have had a weird wanderlust to live in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
Thank you for checking out my stories! There's more at www.marthacarr.com.
Join us on Facebook to hear about new books, giveaways, an idea rolling around about a universe-wide scavenger hunt at the end of the year and more. If you like the series please leave a review and send me a note. More adventures to follow - and thanks for sticking with me.
Michael Anderle (ok, weird talking about myself in the 3rd person) (1967-Hopefully a long time from NOW) was born in Houston, Tx. A very curious child, he got into trouble - a lot. What to do with an inquisitive mind when he was grounded? Read!
Ok, done with all of that 3rd person stuff.
In the first 20 years, I mostly read Science Fiction and Fantasy. In the last 10 years I have enjoyed Urban Fantasy and Military Fiction. With this background, I've been blessed with creating The Kurtherian Gambit series, a well-selling, and fan loved, collection of stories.
The fans have propelled these stories beyond my wildest imagination and they should get all of the credit for sharing with friends, family and occasionally the random person on the street. They are fantastic!
Judith Berens is a figment of your imagination, made up of the fevered brainpower of Michael Anderle and Martha Carr, fueled by a lot of people helping them out - as well as all of you, The Fans. Great stories mixed with a lot of great readers equals more adventures to follow.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2024This is a wonderful tale of a group of young people learning how to do magic and who they are. At boarding school they find friendship, adventure, and just a bit of danger. I look forward to the next book in this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2020Let me begin with praise for the book. The book was not badly written. It showed imagination and good use of fantasy tropes without being tired. If this book had not been so unbelievably YA, I might have enjoyed it more. I think the age and maturity of the characters could have been increased, generating more story line. I cannot say what the author intends so this could be by design. The other thing is had I not known the story was about Reign, I might have wondered. The book is a narrative. And no character is too small to be immersed in their feelings and experiences. It would be different if it was part of storyline growth but much of the time it felt like filler
- Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2025I have always liked the authors and this series intrigued me. Magic of all kinds has always been one of my favorite genres. I liked the mixture and diversity of the characters. The characters complement each other. I like how each individual start growing into their various magic skills. They all have different magic yet they work well together.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2022Great series. Raine is shocked to learn she has magic and goes to the School of Necessary Magic where Alison Brownstone went. She learns how to handle her magic, makes great friends (her boyfriend is a shifter) and gets caught up in one mystery to be solved after another. All she wants is to join the FBI when she is done school. Her deceased father and living Uncle were agents. Justice and protecting others means everything to her. As a grandmother I love the more adult characters and series ( Shay Carson, james Brownstone and Johnny Walker) but i love fantasy so I still enjoy stories of magical young people learning about life and coping with magical and non-magical issues. You will too.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2019This is a great story and reminds me of Vampire academy. The characters were so enthralling that I couldn't put the book down. Raine is a orphan who just experienced her first bout of magic. She starts a magic school and develops friendships that help her with her magic. I liked how open she was to everyone and her sense of justice. This is definitely YA and has a PG vibe to it. I am curious about what happens next and how this series will develop.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2023This book as a continuation of the SNM is wonderful. To start again but with a new class of freshman right behind the previous 3 upper classes. Wonderful continuity. And the introduction of new families of beings. The students’s acceptance of a new world of beings. And the preservation of life. Just a wonderful read. Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting opener
A great read although seemed to take a little step back on magical ability (instinct verses purpose for our leading lady). It is an interesting starter for the series and with these authors you know it's going to be an interesting ride!! A wonderful mix of characters and seeing their development this early is great. Lots of potential in so many ways!!
