Redeem (Under My Skin Book 4) Kindle Edition
Barista Stewart Jenkins has an abysmal track record with relationships, and no matter how hard he tries to keep things tightly under wraps, his life is spinning out of control. His hookup with the gorgeous Michael was only supposed to be sex—hot, dirty, uncomplicated—but that small taste leaves him yearning for more.
Every no-strings encounter that follows between Michael and Stewart peels away more layers, blurring the lines, until they’re left with a raw tenderness and acceptance they both crave. A relationship seems out of the question—they come from drastically different lives and are plagued by inexcusable sins. Being vulnerable is sure to reveal old wounds, and forgiveness seems out of reach, unless they can find a way around their fears on the road to redemption.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2019Michael and Stewart's book really took me by surprise- I wasn't expecting all the emotions these 2 characters would evoke.
These are two men who, on paper, couldn't be more different. Michael has money to throw around, which he does quite often- it's really his way of participating in life, because he's not one to open himself up to people. Unlike Michael, Stewart is more of a living pay check-to pay check kind of guy, money doesn't hold the importance for him as it does Michael. But, like Michael, Stewart also holds things close to his vest, sharing the bare minimum, even with people he's supposedly friends with- which was a major factor in his past break-up. So it's not surprising these two feel a a kinship towards each other.
What started as a NYE hook-up slowly morphed into so much more. And I just loved seeing their connection grow.
I really liked how both Michael and Stewart grew over the course of the book, how they realize some hard truths about themselves. While we never got a clear picture of either one in the books where they're originally introduced, we got just enough to know they weren't the best people. Not that they were bad men, they just had some major issues that needed worked on. And Ms. Lee did such a wonderful job of writing a beautiful redemption story for them both.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2021While there were positive reviews on this book, the negative ones were enough to almost turn me away. Typically in the past when I’ve ignored strong negatives I’ve been just as dissatisfied as they implied. NOT this time, the rest of the series was enough to pique my interest and I’m so glad!
I don’t really understand what some of the complaints about the characters being awful or not changing enough are about. TBH I’m getting the impression those reviews are coming from readers who simply can’t relate. As someone who comes from a less than stellar background and who has struggled with mental health issues and trauma, I find these two men so perfectly real. The author does an amazing job of letting you really understand where each is coming from, and showing how hard they are struggling to recover. The fact that they both provide the other a balance of sorts is satisfying, and I thought Christina did an excellent job of allowing negative effects to their poor reactions while also allowing them to grow as humans throughout the series.
This book was a tad sex heavy, but I think it helped balance out how serious the rest of the storyline was. This tied as my favorite story with West and Tristan. I personally did not love the first or third of the series, I found them slow, but when read altogether they make an excellent full circle. Personally I think a published revision of the series as a single book with added overlapping characters points of views throughout would make this an amazing story. I understand how difficult it is to get complicated or long novels published and sold, but this series screams to be one interwoven story.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2024I really didn’t think I would like this book. In fact I even put it off after book 3! Boy oh boy am I glad I went back and read it. This one was actually my all time favorite of the series. I loved how these “villains” were explained more in depth and how the author shows the struggles of mental illness.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2019Wow!! Just spechless with this amaizing book!! Redeem was an amaizing book Stewart and Michael what a pair!! I love them.so much, how you need to find your "person" to be happy, to want to change and be a better person, couldn't be more perfect this couple for each others, what a beatiful book and can read about all the crew was amaizing, thanks for give us this incredible book.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2019So...I think this is my favorite of the series. Christina Lee took two characters that I SO did not like and turned them into real and relatable characters. Sometimes people deserve a second chance, and I really enjoyed watching these two get that chance.
Michael and Stewart were the villains of our previous stories but this book digs so much deeper into that. It made them real and allowed the reader to see it all from a different perspective and I really felt for them both. They both recognized their shortcomings and where they went wrong in the past and wanted to do better. It was so easy to root for them because you could see that they really wanted to do and be better and took actual steps to do so. It is SO hard to take a villain that readers have good reason to dislike and make them the hero of their own story and Christina Lee did that with two characters here in excellent fashion. I loved these two together, they fit together so well and were able to relate to each other in a way they both needed. And man oh man their chemistry is ridiculous. This book was FIRE, but it was also sweet. Nobody is perfect, but it takes a big person to recognize where they went wrong and to then take steps to better themselves and I think that is what I loved about this book. My only teeny tiny nitpick is that Michael is described to be a financial analyst, which is what I happen to be, and it is so hard to not nitpick and find all the things that are not accurate in his day to day job description, but this is something I am sure everyone does when they read about their own profession.
All in all, Redeem was definitely my favorite of the series and I just adored how raw and real and sweet this book was. It’s such an easy book to devour and speed through and if you enjoy redemption stories this one is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Villains unite!
A little skeptical at first at this pairing but it was beautiful and it worked. They learned to be better but still be themselves. Villains unite!

5.0 out of 5 stars Besser geht es nicht.
UNBEDINGTE. KAUFEMPFEHLUNG!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!
I hadn’t read any of the previous books in the series and discovered this on Instragram when I was looking for a new read. I’m not usually a fan of first person narration but the characters/voices of Michael and Stewart really drew me in. I read the whole book in just a couple of days and would’ve read it in one go if I’d had the time - I didn’t want to put it down.
The story of these two antiheroes desperate to keep each other at arms length and then desperately failing at that was a joy to read. Without giving too much away I’d have to say my favourite part was when they finally earned their first kiss.
If you like compelling and deeply flawed characters trying to redeem themselves and having some seriously hot encounters along the way - read this right now!

4.0 out of 5 stars Two wrongs make a right
I had mixed feelings because the two main characters took a long time to redeem themselves (hence the title). On the other hand, why redeem people without flaws? Michael & Stewart are both arrogant, self-protecting men whose backgrounds have caused previous relationship failures - Bowlby’s attachment theory at work! I always enjoy Lee’s dialogue and her compassionate writing, and I felt the story was realistic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It x
Well it's been a while since I read the first books in this series but I certainly remember Stewart and Michael.....I was kind of hoping they'd get a book but didn't realise they'd end up together....I love them together...Slowly opening up to each other and coming together in spite of their past....Coming to terms with who they are and changing for the better.....They both realised how they treated their ex's and why..So coming together was perfect..I actually think this one is my new favourite and I'm certainly enjoying this authors books x
