    4.5 Gritty Stars🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

This book was such a pleasant surprise.... had I actually read the blurb and known it was about London gangsters/ mobsters/The dark underbelly... I might not have picked it up and I am so thrilled that I did.... this book was filled with fabulously developed characters, an amazing plot and just the perfect amount of twists and turns...

Anna is running from her abusive boyfriend Tony.... Anna was impossible not to like, she had a quiet grace and strength to her.... Anna was very fortunate to have happened upon Tonya... who eventually became her flatmate, BFF, and business partner.... Tonya was fabulous... and I absolutely adored the friendship that these girls developed... one of my favorite things to see in books is positive female relationships..... another person Anna was fortunate to run into was Freddie.... I totally pictured Freddy as Sonny Corinthos on General Hospital(An American soap opera)... he is that lovable hot bad guy....

The plot had a few twists and turns I absolutely did not see coming... there were also a few unlikely coincidences, but hey it is fiction after all... The ending was perfection in my opinion... there is a part in the ending where I wanted to give Anna a standing ovation, you go girl! and I am so happy that there is a follow up, cannot wait for that! So thrilled to spend more time with Anna, Freddie, and Tonya (I really want her to get her HEA)

Strongly recommend to everybody who enjoys a good book with fabulous characters....

*** thank U so much too Bookouture and Net Galley for a copy of this wonderful book ***

If you like a bit of mobster thriller than this book is one to read. Anna, the beautiful girl being held captive by a mobster named Tony. She manages to escape him and start over but she is forever looking over her shoulder. In comes a man named Freddie, another gangster, but she doesn’t know this. As Anna starts to live her life she knows one day Tony may find her but that a chance she needs to take as she won’t let him win without a fight.

Tallon keeps this book face paced and intriguing. I read it in record time as I could not put it down! Anna is a strong main character and you can’t help to root for her to have a better life but the development of some of the other characters was also fabulous!

Gripping, gritty and a great read! Can’t wait to read the second book in this series!

Anna has run away from a very verbal and physical abusive boyfriend. She knows if he finds her then he will kill her. Anna meets up with Tanya and moves in with her and starts to get her life straightened out. But Anna's ex, Tony is not about to let her get away. He is a gangster and has his men looking for her. Anna meets a new man, Freddie, who is also a gangster but does not treat women then way Tony does. He also is afraid to tell Anna what he is. Anna has never told Freddie about her past either and also keeping things from Tanya.
As Tanya and Anna go into business together and buy a club and turn it into a tastefully strippers club with no sex involved with the clients, she is afraid Tony will find her. He is also threatening her parents and showing his true colors to them, which they have always suspected about him anyways.
As things are looking good Anna's past comes back and her life is in danger. She will not give up without a fight.
I could not put this down.

I highly recommend this novel and when I bought it I didn’t realise that it’s the first book in a series of 7 (which made me jump for joy when I discovered this whilst looking on Amazon for other Emma Tallon titles before I’d even finished Runaway Girl!)

I loved the main characters: Anna who is the “runaway girl” escaping the terrifying clutches of her abusive narcissistic psychopathic boyfriend, and Tanya the brassy East End “tart with a heart of gold.” Not to mention the adorable rogue Freddie. I literally cannot wait to find out where this goes!!

Runaway Girl is also her first novel - I did not know this until I read the author’s notes at the end, I just got lucky when I ordered it on impulse because I enjoy this genre. So I then learned that Emma Tallon began writing this story after escaping an abusive relationship. I have huge respect and admiration for anyone who turns their trauma into triumph, although I felt sad thinking that some of the descriptions in the more uncomfortable parts of the book might not have come entirely from just imagination. Nevertheless Emma Tallon has unleashed a genuine talent for writing and storytelling. There were a lot of layers and plot-twists to this book and I’m so glad that it’s a 7-book saga, I intend to binge-read the others this summer before going on to the rest of her titles!

I totally loved this book, and couldn't put it down it was so good. This new gifted and talented author should go far if her next book is anything like this one. The opening chapter grips you from the first page, Anna is running for her life and she takes us on a journey with her that had me on the edge of my seat at times. She's running from Tony, the Greek ,ruthless , heartless and down right nasty crime boss ,who's own men are terrified of him. She meets friends along the way but is always looking over her shoulder for Tony or any of his men. Considering they are looking all over London for her she can't afford to let her guard down. I would definitely recommend this book to all, the only downside for me is, I have to wait till she publishes the next book. 👍💛

I love reading Kimberley Chambers, Jessie Keane, Martina Cole, style books. Seen this and thought id give it a try. I'm glad I did. Great story, great characters. I'm currently half way through the book, and really enjoying it.

My only criticism is where Anna escapes to. It's far to close to home. If you dont want to be found, you would runaway far far away. Not relatively close to home. I'm nit picking - overall a GREAT read. Looking forward to reading the rest in the series. Give it a try.
