Revenge and Retribution (The Graham Saga Book 6) Kindle Edition
Being labelled a witch is not a good thing in 1684, so it is no wonder Alex Graham is aghast at having such insinuations thrown at her. Even worse, it’s Matthew’s brother-in-law, Simon Melville, who points finger at her. Not that the ensuing hearing is her main concern, because nowadays Alex’s entire life is tainted by the fear of what Philip Burley will do to them once he gets hold of them.
On a sunny May afternoon, Philip finally achieves his aim and over the course of the coming days Alex sees her whole life unravelling, leaving her family permanently maimed.
As if all this wasn’t enough, Alex also has to cope with the loss of one of her sons. Forcibly adopted by the former Susquehannock, Samuel is dragged from Alex’s arms to begin a new life in the wilderness.
How is Alex to survive all this? And will she be able to put her damaged family back together?

"Belfrage has the uncanny gift of seamlessly weaving together so much information into one little book and still keep it focused and highly entertaining. The author has a gift of plot and characterization, gorgeous writing that is as poetic as it is expressive, and it is interesting to see how she combines her prose with the rare gift of plot-driven dialogue to lead the pace in this spellbinding work." Reader's Favorite SILVER MEDAL winner

"The action races along towards a terrifying climax, but period and place are brought vividly to life, with smells, sounds, plants, food and stunning geographical descriptions." Historical Novel Society - Book of the Year 2015
About the Author
Had Anna Belfrage been allowed to choose, she'd have become a professional time traveler. As this was impossible, she instead authored the acclaimed Graham Saga, a time-traveling series set in the seventeenth century. Her latest series is set in the 1320s and features Adam de Guirande, his wife Kit, and their adventures during Roger Mortimer's rise to power.

About the author

Had Anna been allowed to choose, she'd have become a professional time-traveller. No luck there, so instead she became a financial professional with two absorbing interests; history and writing. These days, Anna combines an exciting day-job with a large family and her writing endeavours. Plus she always finds the time to try out new recipes, chase down obscure rose bushes and initiate a home renovation scheme or two.
Anna has authored the acclaimed time travelling series The Graham Saga , set in 17th century Scotland and Maryland, as well as the equally acclaimed medieval series The King’s Greatest Enemy.
Anna has also published The Wanderer, a fast-paced contemporary romantic suspense trilogy with paranormal and time-slip ingredients. Her September 2020 release, His Castilian Hawk is a story of loyalty and love set against the complications of Edward I’s invasion of Wales in the late 13th century.
Her most recent release, The Whirlpools of Time , is a time travel romance set against the backdrop of brewing rebellion in the Scottish highlands.
All of Anna’s books have been awarded the IndieBRAG Medallion, she has several Historical Novel Society Editor’s Choices, and one of her books won the HNS Indie Award in 2015. She is also the proud recipient of several Reader’s Favorite medals as well as having won various Gold, Silver and Bronze Coffee Pot Book Club awards.

And The Burley's... omg. The most evil and psychotic characters. I think they are ancestors to Jeffrey Dahmer and Hannibal plus Ed Guin!!
Readers! Fair Warning! On the torture and pain scale of 1 - 10... this book carries a 99!
Be prepared. Add Kleenex to your drink and fave reading nook. Might want know this won't be a relaxing read.
I will never fall out of love with The Graham's.
Another great book.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2016Same in all books of this series > in-needed sex discussion. Once or twice but far more than I care to read. This is all in all very good writing, aside the garbage thrown in ,
It held my attention in that I was ready to read the next installments of the Gresham family. I've just learn to turn pages quickly to avoid the negative properties.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 21, 2019As all the other books in the Graham Saga series I really enjoyed the book. It helped me to discount from everything around me and just connect with the characters after a very stressful day. This book continues the series very well with no gap so you don't lose anytime from as some series do.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2014I just love Ms Belfrage’s books – and Revenge and Retribution is no exception. I must admit I was a bit worried – after five great reads, would the sixth deliver? – but I can happily report book six did not disappoint. Far from it!
Once again, we meet Alex and Matthew Graham, by now firmly rooted in their new home in 17th century Maryland. The love they feel for each other remains as strong as ever, the attraction between them almost palpable, and there is one scene in particular that I return to over and over again, so affected am I by the tenderness in it.
In this book, a lot of the action is concentrated round some of Alex’s and Matthew’s children – and round Matthew’s intriguing, beautiful and deaf niece, Lucy. I am impressed by how Ms Belfrage breathes life into all of her characters, even if I remain primarily an Alex and Matthew fan.
Ms Belfrage combines her cast of wonderful characters with a storyline that makes it almost impossible to put the book down. At times, I wish I could – or that I could avoid reading certain passages, so heart-wrenching are some of the situations Alex and Matthew Graham are forced to face. Fortunately, there are also moments of comic relief, very much thanks to Mrs Parson. That formidable old lady really knows how to put rude people in their place and keep them there!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2014I stumbled upon this book on Amazon and was enthralled by it! It was so riveting at times I couldn't put it down at bedtime and then I'd dream about it. I've just started reading Book 1 and can't wait to find out what happened at the beginning. I've already recommended this series to two friends, An exciting adventure, love story and mystery with a twist and some history thrown in for good measure. Great read! ALI
- Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2016I am on book 8 of this series. By the time I got to this one (I read one every 3 or 4 days) I wasn't sure if I'd continue but since I had already brought the whole series I decided to go ahead and finish it. I liked all of the books but I give all of them a 3 because altho the basis of the story is good it has the ring of one of those "no matter what he does or says I love him and we end up having sex" novels. Yes, I like romance, don't misunderstand, but the fact he can do anything to hurt and crooks his finger and she goes running is not my idea of love. I do not like the "hero" in this series. I have tried through all of the books to like him but he is self-centered, possessive, and he's a boor. He causes much hurt to the family through his self righteousness and his stubbornness. I would have thought he would learn but Ms Belgrage does not change the spots on this leopard at all. Everything he does he justifies in his head but if she steps out of line it's a whole different story. I think the author tries to make him endearing but it just didn't work for me. Alex forgives him a lot because "he's a man". Seriously? So I persevered because I do love the "heroine" and the other characters in the book - they are realistic and the time period setting is interesting. I wish there was a lot more detail about the characters - their background and why they were like they were. Over all, it's a good read but if you're the type who doesn't like this kind of hero, then these books aren't for you.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2014I enjoyed the book because I love the Graham family. But this book was very dark.....I did not like the escapade of Matthew being kidnapped and so abused.
I enjoy these books because I love the Outlander series, and I have found that her books due to tend to copy what the Outlander series covers. Her stories are not original but they do read well and I will read them as they come out.
I like living within the Graham family and seeing their day to day life. I would love more about that, but then I may be the only one.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2022I have lived the whole series but , book 6 I couldn't put down. Read the entire book in 24 hours. Outstanding!

5.0 out of 5 stars Revenge and Retribution
This is the 6th book in the Graham Saga. I found this book not only captivating but actually capable of drawing me in so far I was holding my breath with the confrontation with the Burley brothers. Very well written, so well I had to put down to catch my breath around those specific chapters.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Plot Thickens for the Grahams
What can I say? Ms Belfrage does it again in her own indomitable way. How could she not? Her unique style of writing brings her saga to life. Alex Graham landed from the twentieth century into the seventeenth century by a rip in the veil of time, and Ms Belfrage’s writing makes this all perfectly feasible, nay, she makes it absolutely possible.
The first and all the following adventures bring the history of that time to life. Her narration, her adeptness in drawing the reader in to Alex’ thoughts, is unsurpassed. It gives a real insight into the fears that are felt by a wife and mother when her whole family is in danger, as it is in Book Six.
Alex and Matthew have made a new life in The Colonies after leaving Scotland because of religious persecution, and even there they are not without their harassers. In this book, however, the theme becomes much darker, laying open the awfulness of that time. Ms Belfrage’s prose, and her ability to heighten the tension in her story kept me holding my breath at relevant points in the story. Tension is something that makes this book extraordinary, it’s palpable, it makes you feel so much for the characters as they struggle. Then there is the most profound love that is felt between Alex and Matthew; a oneness that epitomises the word ‘Love’ – the connectedness of two human beings, where each finds it impossible to exist without the other.
It is this strong and binding love that carries Alex and Matthew through the harrowing times in Revenge and Retribution, its power and its authenticity of that time brings their plight to the realms of reality for the reader.
This is a book not to be missed. If you have read the other five books then you will know that book six will not disappoint, more, it is only going to serve the anticipation of reading book seven.
I find that Ms Belfrage’s writing, her style, her use of prose, etc., can and should be used as a master class in writing about time travel. Surely we have all wondered what it would be like to live in another time, especially if you are besotted with history as I am. Ms Belfrage gives us a taste of what it would be like in a most believable way, a way that gets under the reader’s skin, and stays there, leaving a long and lasting impression.
Revenge and Retribution is a masterpiece of writing, and I will be honest here, I cried many times while reading it. It’s not all sorrow, there are light-hearted moments, but all the time you know that there is an evil lurking in the hinterland just waiting to demolish this wonderful and loving family. Their courage, their love for each other, and their love for life is the thread that binds this family, and this saga together.
