    This is 1st book in the series, but I actually read the 2nd one 1st, then started seeking more books by this author. There were occasional typos throughout, but a really great story. It had a full emotional arc: enemies to friends to lovers to second-chance. Conflict was very believable: two young people with amazing professional opportunities incompatible with their romantic hopes. Great 🔥 sexy scenes, good supporting cast. Will definitely look for more by this author.

    SOME SPOILERS: First of all this is a good book. It really is the entire angst package. But I'm not sure why but I found Lyric to be kind of a spoiled brat. She was a good woman, but nothing was ever her fault. Jameson was great. But she and her friends gave him all the blame for a breakup that took 2 to make.

    Enough of the reviews give the overview of the plot so I won't do that. But I have to say that Lyric wanted her career as much as Jameson wanted his. Sure she went to see him 3 times in the year they worked far apart and he canceled over and over, but she was producing for a company--not running it at that time. He was running and merging two corporations plus managing his father's bad health. The only really bad cancel was not going to her sister's wedding. Even then it was a flight issue, not his fault really.

    So when Jameson wants to simply back off on expectations of him being there so often, Lyric flips out and says he's breaking up and then when he doesn't call her back changes her phone number and instructs her workplace not to accept her calls. He flies out and sees her with another man and despite his jealousy thinks she is happy with someone else and backs off. Later on tells her that to explain why he didn't get back to her and she thinks it is BS. I really didn't like her then.

    The bigger issue was all the repeats of Jameson telling her why he didn't get back to her and her repeating all the same lame reasons she won't forgive him. (She could have, she just wouldn't.) This happened on multiple pages throughout the book. I'm happy there is a happy ending. I truly hope it is forever, but with her attitude, it may not last.

    Anyway, her attitude plus all the repetition of the same dialog is why I gave this a 3-star rating.

    Jameson: Long distance relationships are difficult at best but when you're trying to run two different companies and stay connected with your girl, there just isn't enough hours in the day. Best laid plans tend to fall by the wayside and before you know it, time is slipping through your fingers. You begin to feel like you're being pulled in a million different directions and everyone wants a piece of you. But, what choice do I really have?

    "I guess that's why I hate time so much. The bitch is unyielding. Can't rewind her. Can't speed her up or slow her down when you really want to. She's an impenetrable force out to get you."

    Lyric: The time difference between New York and California was such an inconvenience. When he'd be going into work, I'd still be sleeping. And at night, it would just be a nightmare in reverse. Truthfully, I really didn't have too much time to think about it since I was working twelve to fourteen hour days while working on two different albums. So, out of one hundred and fourteen days, I saw Jameson a total of four. But, what choice do I really have?

    Reckless Love is a friend's to lovers, second-chance romance by my favorite contemporary author, J. Saman. Her writing is flawless but her characters are flawed. Which is exactly the reason why I love sinking my teeth into one of her books because they are identifiable! Lyric and Jameson will keep you turning the pages until the wee hours of the morning. Reckless Love is a must read for all you contemporary romance lovers. 18+

Jameson and Lyric brought all the angst, more than I’d like, and kept me on the edge of my seat until the sweet end. And the sweetness of the ending, and the revelation of the depth of his love for her, was worth the pain. As love always is.
