About the author

Traumatized as a child by the haunted house at the Minnesota State Fair, McKenzie Rae decided to take that fear and use it to write as many twisted, spooky, and mysterious tales as she could think of. As a result, she is still afraid of the dark, and some nights, she is convinced that a monster is under her bed. But that could just be her cat.
Rae prefers to create fantasy worlds where anything can happen. The Dysfunctional Trilogy were the first three books she ever published. Since then, she has gone on to write even more chilling tales.
With every book she writes, Rae brings the dark worlds in her imagination to life, and she invites all of you to explore them with her.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 23, 2020I first discovered McKenzie Rae through her amazing novel "My Dark Passenger." I am delighted to say that this one scales the same heights. Told over the course of a single night during a huge thunderstorm, The Rain Came Down is a family drama that features an array of twists and turns that will keep you guessing to the end. Highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2020Trapped in their home in the worst storm in years, Todd, Wanda, Gideon, Aaron, and Piper just hope that their aunt's house isn't destroyed before the night is over. A game of hide and seek uncovers a journal with a deadly secret. Could someone they know be responsible for murder?
A real page turner. I read the second half of the book in one sitting.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2020The beginning of this book was written in such a way that I was nervously awaiting the ball to drop.
The start of Chapter 3 really added to the intrigue and I was very curious to see how that would align and fall into place with the rest of the story.
Rae always leaves me in suspense with her books and builds the mystery to an absolute fever-pitch before piecing everything together. It is always quite brilliantly done.
This book had mystery and twists and turns, along with an epic level of description that had me struggling along with the characters through everything they encountered.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2020I did not expect that to end the way it did. Suspenseful, shocking and creative are how I'd describe this book. This was my first solo read by this author and she did not disappoint.
