Raven's Peace (Peacekeepers of Sol Book 1) Kindle Edition
The rebels must survive the aftermath.
After seventeen years of war, humanity has thrown the Kenmiri Empire back from its borders and into defeat. Colonel Henry Wong struck a killing blow to break the insectoid invaders' will, backed by the immense alliance of rebels and freed slaves forged by the United Planets Alliance he serves.
Now the war is over. A great Gathering has been called of the allies who fought the war, but they only ever shared a common enemy. With the Kenmiri in retreat, a thousand new agendas are revealed.
Humanity wants peace above all else. The UPA's allies want everything from new homes to new empires – and all too many of them are prepared to do anything to achieve their goals.
War was hard enough. Peace may be impossible.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2025Great space battles with a fine moral tone makes for great reading. I am looking forward to more in the series. It was interesting to see the UN ending up involved in governing. Their so corrupt and enaffectuial now that I hate to see them succeed in their pernicious goals of power grabbing.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2019Three and three quarter stars. A good book and what looks to be the start of an interesting universe. It was however very slow to build. There are several characters of interest and a strange new environment. I like were Stewart is going here and glad I stuck it out to the end.
As I said it was a slow start and I mean very slow. I almost put the book down for good a couple times. This wasn't any sort of problem with pacing, it is just such a unique universe it took a very long time to build the details. Once the the core action wraps up with the climax, the end moves along briskly and builds up a great interest for future works. Nothing is rushed, but the flow of the characters and action finally return to what I am more used to with one for Stewart's books. Stick with it, you will be happy in the end.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2025This was an easy read because the story flowed very well. I especially enjoyed the fact that the technical information was easy to understand!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2019A really new look at the aftermath of a big interstellar war and the recovery process.
As usual for Kindle books, more typos than print books, but essentially none more than blips. Although Stewart's space yarns are much better crafted than all but a tiny fraction of authors in the field, still, he has some weaknesses. For example, he doesn't seem to know the difference between novae and supernovae (totally different phenomena). Although the jury is still out, large stars like Procyon and Zion likely do NOT have habitable planets. Procyon has a companion white dwarf, which likely wiped clean any living rocky worlds when it passed through its red giant phase. Procyon itself is an older F5 star with a total lifetime of perhaps 2+ Gyr. Zion, at only 9 ly from Earth, should be very bright in our night sky and have a proper name from antiquity. There are other such issues that are jarring, but not story breakers.
One real issue: since so many Kenmiri warships were captured and available for reverse engineering, one would think the UPA warships would have the same inertial compensator technology as the other warring partners whose warcraft are based on Kenmiri designs, or ARE refurbished Kenmari craft. Yet the acceleration difference is a fairly crucial issue in a number of places in the story.
Otherwise, a really absorbing yarn, very well crafted and and a delight, cover to cover. Highly recommended. The only reason I am not waiting with baited breath is his OTHER series awaiting their next story. I read almost everything this author writes and NO disappointments! He is absolutely among the top authors in SF writing today.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2021There's a lot to love in this universe. Victory over a truly alien species. Fascinating tech. Battles in space. Different alien allies trying to make a peaceful future. But at the same time it's all kind of dull exposition leading up to the rest of the series. It doesn't feel like a whole lot happens, but what does happen has to happen for the point of the plot moving forward. I've read at least one of the other books in this series, and enjoyed them a *lot* more than this one. So, if you read this and felt "meh" at the end? Don't let that stop you from reading book two. Or the rest of Stewart's works, all of which (even including this one) are truly fantastic worlds and stories.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2025What if two sentient species met for the first time? Both species have been searching the galaxy since time immemorial, wondering “Are we alone?”
What if the warlike aggressors we were always afraid of running into, the violent aliens that moviemakers helped us imagine, turned out to be us?
Would we look at the interaction transactionally? Quid Pro Quo? Establish a generous-to-both-sides treaty?
Or would Earth take a turtle in its shell approach? Earth First! Maybe a “If you’re not like us, you are against us!” Shoot first, ask questions later?
Think what we could learn from each other, and possibly other species. If all sentients threw off their prejudices? What if we got rid of those in their circle who hate anyone different than them in looks, color, number of arms, language?
Why wait? If this book, brilliant by the way, is a true representation of a possible future for this world, maybe we can start that revolution across this big beautiful blue globe today!
Hopefully we will wake up one day soon and make the first step towards a time for worldwide peace and equality. Toss away the labels we’ve all grown so fond of because I have news for you. THEY are out there … and they’re coming …. here!
To help you get ready, read this book and the rest of the set. Hey, you might just as well get all of Glynn Stewart’s books because you will love every universe he has created and those who populate them!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2025I loved the Starship’s Mage series. There is much similarity here, but it seems more heavy handed. And I still find the confusion of tossing around familiarity military ranks randomly disturbing. Why do we need Lt. Cols and Commanders in the same organization? But it’s a good story at base

5.0 out of 5 stars Another awesome book
Another awesome book from Stewart. Perhaps a little short compared to others of his that I have read; the ending was quite abrupt. Doesn't detract from the overall story all though, just makes me want the next book sooner!

A splendid story which leads into what could prove an interesting series. It is not a book full of battle scenes, but one of personalities and leaves a mystery as to is behind it all.

3.0 out of 5 stars Really slow start
I almost gave up three times but forced myself to take the book up again. I think I started to find the story interesting when the book reached 80%. The last 20% were so intriguing however that I will read the next book. I just hope it will go a bit faster!
