Another great book by Terry Mixon. I've really enjoyed this series and look forward to the next book. This series should appeal not just to military sci-fi and action adventure readers but to sci-fi readers in general. The author strikes a good balance between the elements of science/technology, military action, politics and character development. He doesn't bog the reader down with overly technical explanations but, for example, shows he does understand the basics of how ships in space might maneuver. (I hate it when an author has spacecraft maneuvering like an aircraft or sea going ship). The characters are engaging as is the story. As questions are answered, new mysteries are encountered. I highly recommend this series.
I only took a half star off because of some scattered proofreading/editing issues.

I have given this novel 4 star rating rather than a 5 based upon all the syntax errors and juxtaposition words. Actually a 4 1/2 stars would be more appropriate. The novel just needed a little better editing. Its too bad as this book carries forward The Empire of Bones story line in a nicely paced fashion. The characters are complex enough without boring you to death with minutiae. However, this is not a novel that one should jump into without reading the previous books in the series. Knowing the back story is essential to fully comprehend (and enjoy) this novel. Although I had already read the first five books in the series, it was many months between the time I finished book five and purchased this one. I had to really tax my memory to catch up with the flow at first. Its very difficult for someone to try and start cold and grasp why certain interactions between the main characters is taking place. Although the author does provide some "refresher" background it really its really not enough to get a new reader up to speed. Overall, the continuing story line is excellent, action is well paced and the characters are well developed and complex. I'm anxiously awaiting book 7. It should be very interesting considering how this one ended.

We have a new book, a great book, we have lost the half brother through his insane and traitorous actions. We have resolved a few of our problems, but the main one remains. We still have an insane AI out to rule the galaxy and kill any one in it's way. There is no option for inaction if you want to survive, and you are heavily outnumbered. How will Jared and Kelsy handle it, attack the universe and try to win? Try to find some place save, if there are any and hide? Will either one lead to survival? I find it a wonderful read with lots of twists, turns and loop de loops.

First of I will say if you have not read any of the books from this series. You are missing out. In this book, we see the Terran Empire and it allies continues the fight with the rebel empire. Kelsey and her half brother Jared go once again in battle, with the prize this time being bigger than they expected. But can they get it back to the empire's space safely. I will be looking forward to the next book, but hope that Terry doesn't make us wait to long.

This book moves the story along, as expected and in ways not expected. Good character development is continued for existing and for new characters. Actions and responses are acceptable within the tech and sci-fi realities previously established. This book leaves no doubt there is another in the series. The ending doesn’t require the reader to continue, but certainly strongly encourages that action.

This is a great series, this installment is no exception. I eagerly await each new book and immediately move it to the top of my "Read Next" list. Likable characters, lots of action and just fun to read. This is a series, and like all series, to get the most out of it you need to start with book #1. So buy them all, they wont disappoint.

I am deeply attached to the characters in this series. The blending of military sci-fi, space opera, and medieval nobility is good fun.

The pacing in this title was a little wonky though. I don't want to give away any spoilers but I felt like the author very quickly jumped from point a to b with very little in between or spent an inordinant amount of time dealing with romantic drama more fit for a Harlequin novel then a military sci-fi novel.

There were also more than a few grammatical errors and a few editing issues where the wrong name or word was used.

As I said I'm emotionally invested in the characters and would recommend the series. This volume could definitely use some editing both for grammar and storyline.

Gute Unterhaltung. Die Story wird weitergeführt allerdings leider etwas langsam.
Nun eröffnen sich mehr Plots die zum einen die Raider Ausrüstung betreffen als auch potentielle rogue groups in dem AI Imperium

2.0 out of 5 stars Shame but time to quit

I enjoyed the series so far but this book has lost the plot. I skipped over at least 25% of the pages about weddings and relationships and felt that the author was filling in to pad out the book. Shame really as there is plenty of scope for some action in all sorts of areas. I will not be following the rest of the saga and I'm sad about that but there are plenty of other books out there.
