KEANU

I come up behind her, about to open my mouth and ask before I remember the new rules. I'm still cautious as I wrap my arms around her from behind, but she doesn't flinch or give any indication she's uncomfortable, sinking into my embrace with a contented sigh. I rest my chin on her shoulder, momentarily closing my eyes as I enjoy the feel of her in my arms. "I love you, Sel."
She's smiling as she turns her head slightly to look up at me. "You just told me in the car."

I rub my nose against hers. "Is there a limit to how often I can tell you I love you?"

"Nope." She rubs her nose against mine. "No limit. I will never tire of hearing you say that, because I worried my actions had lost you to me forever. I will never take your love for granted."

My gaze lowers to her mouth before darting to her eyes, seeking permission even though I know she said we had to build up to this. If I don't kiss her soon, I think I'll combust.

"Keanu,"she whispers, licking her lips as her eyes latch onto my mouth. "You make my heart beat so fast." Her eyes rise to mine, and I see the same desire reflected in her gaze. Her pupils are darker, burning with heat, and we move toward one another at the same time.

"Am I interrupting?"

We jerk apart at my dad's words, and Selena blushes.

"Awesome timing, Dad," I deadpan.

"Anytime, son," he teases, grinning madly as he places a tray with coffee and homemade cookies on the table in front of the wicker couch.

It's not a secret that Siobhan Davis is one of my favorite authors this year and ever but she is the author who always surprises me with every new book she has to write. I loved Faye and Kyler's story. I loved Lana and Kalvin's story. But, this story has something that stole my heart and that is the main reason why it became my favorite one from "The Kennedy Boys" series for now (because who knows what we'll get from Siobhan in the last two books 😱). "Releasing Keanu" is a truly painful and emotional romance story that will make your heart bleed, because of the pain that both characters are going through. Selena is a female character that I admire because she found the strength to continue living her life after her childhood was destroyed. Keanu is a male character that makes you wish is the real man in your real life because he is everything one woman needs. He is... Her friend. Her boyfriend. Her protector. Her whole world. Their relationship was really complicated from the first time they started dating but they showed how the relationship can survive all ups and downs if both partners truly love each other no matter how much scars one of them has. Highly recommended!!! P.S. I can't wait to read about the next Kennedy Boy 😍❤🔥!!!

    Yesss! This is new adult romance at its very finest! A beautiful first-love story with plenty of angst, conflict and tension but without the manufactured drama of immature characters sabotaging their relationship at every turn, making me wish I could reach through the Kindle and smack some sense into them. I’m ridiculously late to the Kennedy Boys party, and after reading Keanu's unbelievably amazing story, I have a lot of catching up to do. Better late than never because, with Keanu and Selena's story, another new-to-me talent secures a spot on my list of must reads.

    Before I get into all the delicious ‘feels’ that is Keanu and Selena, I need to start with a word of caution. Details of Selena's past are difficult to read and may be problematic for some readers, due to horrific treatment of children, so proceed with caution. That said, it is an integral part of Selena's story and things are handled with utmost care and respect.

    Now, on to these two phenomenal characters. Oh my heart, y'all, they own me!! Keanu and Selena are both so admirable, neither without flaws, but so strong, determined and committed to not only each other but to their own personal growth, as well. I’ve never been so heartened by two characters in their early twenties as I am with Keanu and Selena. They have a wretchedly rough road with extraordinary challenges, but they face things together. And get this. They actually communicate and talk things through rather than arguing and bickering. There just may be a lesson there.

    Selena comes from dreadful atrocities and we see her struggle throughout the book to put herself back together, piece by piece, conquer her demons and learn to thrive. Watching her overcome, heal, grow and reclaim her life is one of the most empowering and uplifting things I have ever read. Yes, she broke up with Keanu, but her reasoning was sound, and there was a lot that needed to happen while they were apart. Their reuniting is as inevitable as the tide coming in, and they’re both stronger, and stronger together, as a result of their time spent without each other.

    Keanu is like no young adult hero I’ve ever met. Sweet, tender, compassionate, and careful, with a heart as big as the sky, he is so perfect with Selena. The way he cherishes her, bolsters and encourages her and is so in tune with her needs, well, that's the kind of love we all dream of. Yet he's authentically human and has his own share of guilt and anger that he deals with throughout their story. But his commitment and soul-deep determination to be what Selena needs and to never let her go again is so swoony and admirable, my heart was ready to burst!

    If that's not enough, we have Selena's incredibly amazing mother and the big, loving Kennedy family, all of which make me wish that I could be an honorary member. Their unwavering support, unconditional love, and sense of family is a strong thread running throughout the book that blankets Keanu and Selena with comfort and encouragement.

    If you’re still on the fence or you just don’t like new adult romance, I encourage you to take a chance on this one and jump in. I promise you won’t be sorry. Keanu and Selena are unforgettable characters that will live in your heart, and their story is so overflowing with heart and emotion you’ll feel it deep in your soul. With a little steam, well-placed humor and riveting suspense, this full, rich, complex story will fill you up and burrow so deep you’ll feel it on a cellular level.     Releasing Keanu is the 8th book in The Kennedy Boys series. This book could be read as a standalone, but I suggest reading them all in order, because a lot of the characters in this book are in the past books as well. This book is told from the POV of Keanu and Selena.

    I was so excited to read Keanu's story. In the other books he kept his relationships to himself. He was a model for his mom's company where he met Selena. Selena had some things happen in her past which really messed her up. She started dating Keanu, but when they turned 18 she broke up with him, telling him it would work between them.

    This devastated Keanu and he started partying with Kent. He did some things he was not proud of. Selena was still in love with him, but let him go so she could work on her own battles. Now a couple years later, her past has come back to haunt her. She goes to Keanu for help. He still loves her and decides that he will help her no matter how she feels for him.

    Can he protect her and keep her safe from her past? Can she get away from all the past and take Keanu back? I loved this story, and can't wait for Keaton's story!

    The story of Selena and Keanu is probably the darkest Kennedy Boys book yet. It deals with the fallout of child $exual @buse and the long term issues surrounding it, especially in relation to intimate partner relationships. The topic is handled sensitively and was clearly researched comprehensively.

    Personally, while I loved them as a couple, I think I agree with Kent that they were a little too OTT in their adoration of each other. There were just a few too many “you’re perfect for me”/“no, YOU’RE perfect for ME” conversations for my liking and it got a bit wearing. That aside, it was a great way to kick off the triplets’ books.

    The Kennedy’s know how to keep us on our toes, and Keanu’s book is no different.
    Our eyes are opened up to a lot of the story we have skimmed over in previous books.
    We are shown the true story behind Selina and Keanu relationship.
    Nothing in life matters for either one but making the other one happy and you get this feeling of how broken each were without the other. Nothing is ever what it seems on the surface.
    This story brings back all our favourites we have grown to love but also showing us the Kennedy way that family is always there for each other.

    Another amazing story by Siobhán. I can’t wait for the last 2 books in the Kennedy series.
