4.4 out of 5 stars 3,742 ratings

AMAZON TOP 100 BEST SELLER

From USA Today bestselling author Cassandra Robbins comes her third MC standalone.
Repent is a dark, emotional, second chance romance.

There are two sides to every story.
I fell in love with a redheaded boy, a boy who was kind and good.
Until he wasn’t.
He broke my heart once, twice… I’ve lost count. Like a dark god, he haunts me. He smells like smoke and cinnamon, with danger seeping from every pore. He is my savior, my lover, exciting and addictive.
I should’ve seen it coming…
Never trust a Disciple. You have to sell your soul to the devil to get one to love you. I would.
I did.
My name is Dolores Dunghart and I might have done the unforgivable.
I don’t care if you judge me… I’ve judged myself.
But this is how we live.
And this is our love story.
Edge and Dolly forever.

Forgiveness doesn’t come easy

Forgiveness doesn’t come easy
I have been DYING to read Edge and Dolly’s story! Their love is the crazy, all consuming destructive kind but at the heart of it is a real and true kind of love. Best friends since they were kids growing up with crappy parents at least they had each other. Dolly seems determined to be everything that her Family is NOT while Edge sees the Disciples as his one true family. This ineveitbaly drives a wedge between the two of them when they’re forced to look at themselves and what they really see and want. A teenage bad decision changes the trajectory of their entire lives. One moment and all they both wanted is gone. A love like this though…….. It doesn’t go down without a fight and their love is a warrior. . Ok so YES this is very much on the outside a toxic AF relationship that despite how much I love them had me questioning if they were REALLY IT for each other. The thing about life and love is that it’s always changing and nothing ever stays the same. As time passes Edge and Dolly find themselves orbiting each others life no matter how hard they try not to. Can the mistakes of the past be forgiven and forgotten? They’ll have to be for them to make it but nothing is ever that simple. Especially when it comes to love.

I sort of loved/hated this book, but it deserves 4 stars for character development alone.

This story is not for everyone, Dolly and Edge’s relationship is less than ideal and can be very frustrating to read.

Unlike the other two books in the series, this one focuses more in their relationship than club business so it can get to be too much, because Edge and Dolly are TOXIC. I was in a constant state of anxiety while reading this book, Dolly is that friend you loose you mind over trying to council so she doesn’t ruin her life with how toxic she is; she self-sabotages all the time, is absurdly insecure, has no self awareness, blames Edge for everything—from the way she feels to how she acts—has zero impulse control, it’s desperate to please everyone but Edge—and even herself— and she’s selfish and narrow-sighted. In short, Dolly can be highly unlikable—downright annoying—she’s a perpetual victim and does nothing to help herself because she always expects Edge to fix everything even though deep down she doesn’t accept who he is. But even then, you can’t hate her, sure, you get annoyed and exasperated with her, but she’s so sad and confused that you just want to hug her and then shake some sense into her, because you want her to get her act together, to be happy.

I’ve read over 1.5K romance books and honestly there are a lot of characters like Dolly out there, the difference is that they’re so unapologetically toxic you just know the author thinks they’re “strong” and “independent,” here the author shows you that even Dolly knows she’s not right, but she’s so deep into her issues she can’t control herself. My sister is like that, she’s bipolar and when she starts self-sabotaging there’s no stopping her, when anxiety hits there’s no reasoning with her and her self-hate, so I find Dolly’s beautiful in how real and heartbreaking her issues are.

No one and I mean NO ONE could be more perfect for Dolly than Edge, the man’s not perfect but he should be up for sainthood, he’s that patient. He bears with all of Dolly’s issues and insecurities, even though some of hers should feed his—like the fact Dolly is ashamed that he’s “trash” like their parents—but unlike Dolly he’s mentally and emotionally stronger to deal with and get over them, and with the strength he has left helps her and tries really really hard to make her feel like she is enough, although in the end it’s up to Dolly to accept herself and deal with her insecurities.

I think what I like most about this book is that even though Edge supports Dolly and tries very hard to “save” her, in the end, Dolly saves herself, he helps her get there but—like in real life—she works through her problems and accepts her past and family, and with that, herself.

This is a very harsh story about the realities of self acceptance and love, it’s not pretty, mainly because it’s real and real life is not always pretty. In a way this is a sort of coming of [emotional] age story, Dolly might have been in her early thirties, but deep down she never stopped being that insecure little girl who felt she had to prove to everyone that she wasn’t trash, that she was worthy.

I usually run from this kind of stories because I hate toxic people and I read romance to escape the ugliness of the world, but this book showed the internal struggles of a very conflicted soul, it made me empathize with people I usually don’t, and left me with the hope that people like that can be better if they want to.

I recommend to read this with an open mind and heart, it’s not for people who expect hearts and flower, sugar, spice, and everything nice. These are not nice people, this are people with issues and insecurities that rule their behavior, so beware.

This third book in the series starts straight on from book two, Atone, with Dolly and Edge’s story. If you haven’t read the first two books I recommend you do, and seeing as they are really good, it’s definitely a treat. Then the story goes back in time to give readers some background knowledge of Edge and Dolly’s childhood. This explains so much, especially why Dolly wanted out of the club life, my heart was squeezed so tight for both of them when reading it but also I easily could have slapped a few characters around. 😀 Yeah, in my dreams 😆, they were too scary but Dolly’s mum- too right I could take her I think. 😉

Edge is the treasurer of The Disciples MC, he grew up a club child, Dolly did too. While he lives for the club... Dolly not so much. Edge is tough but his love for Dolly has always been strong. Dolly likewise loves him, but doesn’t necessarily trust him due mainly to her father modelling this poor behaviour and with the expectation from other women that it’s to be expected and tolerated. I really like Dolly’s sassiness and confidence in many things however her childhood really did a number on her. Edge is a yummy treat that’s for sure. 😉

This is a fast paced story, very easy to read because of its solid storyline that is so absorbing. You literally can’t put the book down. I hadn’t intended to read it in one sitting but couldn’t stop once I started. It hooks you in from the very first page until the last. It’s not often a book does that with every single page.

Like all of this author’s books you feel so many emotions as you go through both Edge and Dolly’s story. Not only do you empathise with them you feel what they felt too, which is extremely powerful. The lead characters are the main focus and the story is told from both of their points of view but it’s so great to be back with the other characters we’ve already met in the previous two books. A special mention has to go to Doug, he brings a little light relief and is so adorable, I love him.

Another brilliant story in this sensational series that I totally recommend to everybody who enjoys a fabulous love story.

    Edge and Dolly forever!!!!!

Oh man I loved and hated this book. Their story starts out when they are kids and follows their love as they grow up and become adults.
I hated when Dolly and Edge had problems and you thought that was it, they’re done and they aren’t going to get back together.
Both got a little bit betrayed by the ones they loved when they were younger and you just wanted to smack those people in the face for keeping them apart during that rough time.

You gotta love Edge- he knew deep down Dolly was his, even with all of her insecurities and trust issues.
And Dolly it took her a long time to come to the conclusions she does and just let’s go and trusts Edge and moving forward.
Omg their story was worth the read and I just wish we got a 10 or 20 years in the future epilogue — their love story was amazing!!!!! Best Disciples book so far!

This was a really great book. The best of the series so far in my view. The push & pull between Dolly & Edge was exhausting but enthralling! Dolly can’t accept that the love of her life is an MC member & all that it represents. However she is also a biker brat. They finally work things out but the route is definitely not plain sailing! Great characters. Can’t wait to get stuck into the next book. 😁
