Rescued Love (Sweetwater Valley Book 7) Kindle Edition
Life is good—I spend most of my time at the shelter taking care of animals who need me and finding them forever homes where they’ll thrive. The only downside to my life is that I don’t have anyone to share it with. I’ve been able to push that need aside for years now, but as the people around me find love, it’s a harder reality to ignore. Still, I’m okay with waiting for the right man.
I’m not prepared for the spark between Nathan and I the first time we meet, especially with the way he sneers at me and makes assumptions about why I’m on his grandfather’s land. What a shame that the first man I’ve felt something for in so long is a jerk. I guess everything in life can’t be good.
It doesn’t take long for him to learn that I’m not out to get Mr. Jacobson and how everyone supports his unofficial animal sanctuary. His apology is genuine, but I have a feeling I shouldn’t allow my heart to get involved even though his eyes beg me to let him in. By the time he breaks through my walls, I’ve forgotten why I wasn’t sure about him, but was he ever meant to stay?
NATHAN
I keep stepping in it and messing up my life. First, my inability to hide my disgust and distrust for the client I’m defending lands me with forced vacation time. Suddenly, the partner position I’ve been working towards looks farther away than ever. Maybe the future I’ve been chasing isn’t the one for me.
Going to Sweetwater Valley, a place I haven’t visited in years, to see my grandfather should be the perfect place to get my head on straight. I barely get a lungful of the fresh air or experience the slower pace before I’m making assumptions about the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. Kimball doesn’t deserve my ire, accusations, or frustrations. By the time I realize she helps my grandfather with his animal sanctuary, along with the rest of the town, I’ve already made a horrible first impression.
Kimball is empathetic, driven, and makes me feel things I never have before. When I’m ready to admit the attraction between us is off the charts and apologize for my misstep, is it too late? Even though I know she’s mine, it would be wrong to build something in Sweetwater Valley when I’m only visiting, but can I stop myself? When my old life comes calling, which future is the right one for me?
**18+. If you like alpha heroes and an insta-love story that is sweet but isn’t necessarily simple, then this is for you. No cheating with a guaranteed HEA. It is a standalone and the seventh small town romance in the Sweetwater Valley series.**

About the author

Ember Davis loves alpha heroes with a range of emotions, but a strong sense of how to take care of their women. She loves her heroines from all walks of life, just like her heroes, and she wants them to be real and relatable. Her heroines tend to be sassy, opinionated and smart.
Ember is a stay at home mom of two who recently refound her love of books and all things romance and is so glad that she did. She’s always been creative, but writing and creating stories that she would love to read satisfies the dreams she had as a little girl. She loves butterflies, the color purple and enjoying time with her family.
Pssst…it’s totally a pen name, but everything above is 100% true.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2024This was a well written book that delved into complex characters without the usual angst and hand wringing. I loved the lesson that can be learned from this story—sometimes we get so caught up in the job and chasing what we think we need to do, without stopping and asking if that is really what we want and need. Thankfully he found someone to help him; what we all hope that we will do. Loved the steam too.☺️
- Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2024After a particularly difficult case where he knows his client is guilty of crimes against the elderly, Nathan, is encouraged to take time off and decides to visit his grandfather in Sweetwater Valley. Kimball is living her life in Sweetwater Valley and is running the local animal shelter. So when she makes her weekly visit to a local makeshift animal rescue she is disappointed that the grandson of the town’s favorite animal lover, Nathan, is hostile and questions her motives. But the draw between them is undeniable, so when Nathan finally realizes the mistake he’s made he decides to make amends, and get his girl
This is a cute instalove story with a twist because of a ‘meetugly” when Nathan takes out his frustrations on Kimball. I really loved the way they found their way back to each other. Kimball stays true to herself and Nathan slowly realizes that what he really wants is in Sweetwater Valley. It has a satisfying HEA and an unexpected “villain” who gets exactly what he deserves. If you like a cute small town romance with a bit of steam, this is the book for you. While you are at it, check out the other books in the Sweetwater Valley series. This is a part of a series but can be read as a complete standalone.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2024Nathan is finding his life spiraling out of control and he is very frustrated. He is a lawyer in one of the top criminal defense firms in the city and he finds that since he stayed their after the internship, and spent so much time working up the ranks that he feels a bit soul drained. His boss/mentor is Nigel Marsh and his current case is one he hates. He is finding it hard to reconcile that he knows that his client is guilty and he can’t remain unbiased. But the other chair, has no problems with this. He and his co-council, Marcus were both their as interns and have competed as they both rose thru the ranks. They hate each other. So it is decided that he should go on vacay and visit his grandfather and he is off this case. That way when he returns, he will be fresh, rested, etc. His grandfather is the last of his family left. While in college and after, he hasn’t spent much time with him as life has gotten in the way and he feels guilty. People in town know that the Jacobsen will take in any animals that were in need. I found that although Nathan is a bit grumpy and jaded when he first comes home, he is a good man and a good lawyer. Kimball had wanted to be a vet growing up, but found that she was needed and so took over the animal shelter. She also made sure that the animals and Mr. Jacobsen had what they needed by going out there for checks every couple of weeks. But, this time, Nathan is there and he panics when he sees what the name is on the trunk, thinking Kimball is there to take the animals from his gramps. I found Kimball to be an inspiration and I teared up a few times. I also laughed a lot while reading this book. Sadie, is a high school student that volunteers at the shelter and can be wise. Lol. I think Sweetwater Valley is lucky to have Kimball and the Jacobsens there. What Kimball does to keep everything going at the Jacobsens is mind boggling and beautiful. I think part of why Nathan is so nasty to Kimball at first is because he doesn’t want to admit he is attracted to her because of all of his assumptions. Honestly, I probably would have smacked him if he spoke to me like he does her. Or ranted at him. I’d have refused to leave until gramps had gotten back or called gramps myself. Lol. Penny and Salt, two animals on the Jacobsens land are a bit terrifying. You’ll see, lol. I like how Nathan changes as he learns more while being back home. I love how Sweetwater helps out everyone that lives there. That is the way it should be. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2024I love stories that include 'found family' and this author is the QUEEN of it!!!
The meet-cute for this couple is NOT ideal and our poor hero keeps putting his foot in it. But you can feeeeeel the yearning and chemistry coming off the pages that these 2 have. In a journey of self-discovery they come together in the beautiful Ember Davis way!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2024This was an amazing story. Kimball is a sweetheart who wanted to be a vet but she couldn’t afford college so she works with the county’s animal shelter. Nathan is a lawyer on the fast track to make partner when his newest client sours his outlook and makes him start having doubts.
I loved Kimball. She’s adorable and would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. She helps everyone in need including an older man who happens to run a not so legal animal sanctuary. When she stops by to see him she gets surprised by the man’s grandson Nathan. He’s incredibly rude to her and runs her off.
Nathan had great character development. He started off as a bit of a pill but he absolutely kept getting better as the story went on. He ran Kimball off and then started having doubts immediately. Then he starts meeting more of the people in his grandpas life and realizes that everyone in the town shows up for each other.
Together they are amazing and I absolutely loved how they interacted and also the detail of each characters personalities. Even the animals had their own way to express themselves including a very angry peacock lol
This story was so engaging I will definitely be reading it again.
