Michele is married to an awesome guy that puts up with her and all the burnt dinners she makes—hey, sometimes characters are a bit distracting, and who doesn’t plot when they’re supposed to be cooking? They live together in Baltimore, Maryland with two little monsters, a three-legged princess, a four-legged goofball, and a cutie with giant ears (aka their two kids, their two cats, and their dog). She hopes to rescue another cat soon, and if her hubby wouldn’t kill her, she’d get more than one… and maybe a few more dogs as well.

She loves creating worlds filled with lots of love, chosen family, and of course, magic, but she also likes making the characters fight for that happy ending. She hopes to one day write all the stories in her head—even if there are too many to count!

    I waited and waited for this book to come out and all I can say is that I wasn't disappointed. Michele Notaro has this amazing way of writing that isn't just "writing". She takes simple letters and words and creates entire worlds that live and breathe and are full of individuals that are as real as you and I. Michele weaves a spell in each of her books that pulls you in and at the end you question which world is more real: the one in the book or the one that you live in.

    Rescuing His Heart is book 2 in a series the started with How We Survive. In the first book, we are introduced to Patty - a wolf shifter working with the Rebels who accidentally finds his True Mate is a gorgeous green-eyed member of the Ministry. Kai has been dreaming about the beautiful, blue-eyed Rebel that could have killed him and didn't. Both men know that they are connected but they are on opposite sides of the war and neither can figure out how to navigate around that until the matter is taken out of their hands. Kai is kidnapped, held prisoner, and tortured by the one man that Patty fears more than any other. But with his True Mate's life at risk and with his pack at his side, Patty has no choice but to enter the one place he swore to never see again - the castle dungeon of Edward Marks. Will either man make it out with their minds or hearts intact?

    I can't say enough about how wonderful this series of books is and how much I would recommend them to anyone. I am totally in love with the characters in these books and can't wait until the next book featuring Chris - a wolf shifter - and an elder vampire, Dregan. We also get our first glimpse of what happened to Felix and how he was cursed. Tre, Nate, Teagan, Zeke, Cameron ... you can't help but fall in love with each one of them. I was lucky enough to read an advance copy from Michele Notaro but I also bought a copy. It's that good!

    This book was a wonderful read that kept the mystery and intrigue from book 1 going, and added another layer at the end. I'm definitely ready for Book 3. Patty and Kai had a lot to work through, but I'm so glad that things worked out. And I'm still wondering about Ronan and Doc too.

First off, there are some trigger warnings for this book; sometimes to flesh out a story, one gets into the depravity of a being’s actions but this author does this for a purpose, not just for kicks! Once again the world building is phenomenal and Notaro can really write character development.

    This is not a fluffy read. It is dark, cruel, and intense. The first 25% of the book was hard to read. The cruelty, the torture, and the hopelessness. My heart ached for Kai and Patty. It was a hard earned HEA. I love the world building in this series even though the setting is dark but there is a glimmer of hope. And of course love conquers all in the end with True Mates. Knowing that there is a HEA at the end of all the hardships makes it a little easier to get through those parts. Highly recommended if you enjoy shifter books and want something different.

    I enjoyed this book, but found the last part a little too long and repetitive. The story was great, with love and danger, but the possessiveness of the wolfs were a little too much. I liked Kai and Patty together but less “honey” in their relationship and talking will gafe made it more realistic.

    I am in the minority on the two main characters, I as I really did not like patty. I didn’t think any of them were very smart. I meant they are how old and all types of soldiers? Patty and Trey BOTH KNEW how dangerous Edward was. Especially when it came to Patty. And yet the both went in ALONE, half cocked to rescue Kia from however many days/weeks/months of torture. They had MONTHS to plan an attack. To gather forces. And as bad as this is going to sound, I really felt like Patty kinda wanted to go back to Edward. I mean he really didn’t try very hard. He went there anticipating it. Half wanting to be with him. So he readily agrees to go with him. He spends two eeeks having sex and bonding with someone other then his FATED MATE, which Is an automatic turn off (story wise) for me. So I was kinda just done with the story after that. I also didn’t like how EVERYTHING was about patty. Yes he went through some crap, but Kia’s prolonged torture and being forced to watch his friends die in front of him was just brushed under the rug. It was barely mentioned. The pack isolated him because he didn’t know how to be apart of them. No one tried to understand what he was going through. Not even patty.
    Over all I didn’t like this book at all and kind of wish I hadn’t read it. I love the author though and the story was well written, little to no errors, and obviously by the awesome reviews everyone, but me, really enjoyed it. I will read more of her work, but I’m hesitant, simply because I don’t want to read another story where one of the mc’s has sex with someone else.

    I'm not sure which series I'm loving the most but this series has made a special place in my heart. I'm loving Tre and Patty. They are just hard to not love. As you read each book you learn more about each character and their story. I also like how she has POV's of other characters in the book included in the story regardless of who's book it is. That gives you more insight into what is happening. On to the next book. Truly a great series to read and enjoy.

    I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first. In fact, I skipped quite ahead here and there. I wasn't feeling the back and forth b/w which mate was going to be strong and the other weak, Patty or Kai. Plus knowing how Patty was violated turned my stomach, but I'm too invested in the overall storyline, esp Felix to quit the series.

    I have been waiting for this to come out as I read the first in the series "How we survive" and loved it. The series combine a lot of genres, which can be a disaster. Survivalist, shifter and m/m love story but she pulled it off. At the heart of it I really enjoy the characters Notaro writes and admit to being a Nortaro fan. It is still a toss up on which I prefer, the contemporary or this, time will tell. This story centre around Patti searching and finding Kai his true mate after a brief initial meeting. His dreams reveal Kai is in trouble held captive by a raving nutter Edward. The story focuses on the rescue and building of their relationship with underlying streams that will link the entire series. The ongoing search for someone who can break the spell that holds one of their members in his wolf form. While the adventure is beyond everyday the relationships of love and friendship are what we would all like in real life. While Patti and Kai relationship sit central to the story the "family" around them will draw you in just as much. I really enjoyed that while obviously Patti and Kai were the focus and the story is told from their point of view the supporting cast also engage you. Can't wait for the next in the series.

    Another great read from this author! This book continues on from Book 1, but focuses on Patty and Kai. A year on from their chance meeting and neither is able to forget the other. Sadly for Kai, finally talking to his new packmate about his recurring dreams becomes their downfall as Edward, the psychopathic shifter who has a long and horrific past with Patty, overhears and takes Kai captive to draw Patty out.

    This book flips between Patty rescuing Kai, and then Kai rescuing Patty. There are a couple of time jumps of a few weeks, and in at least one of these I felt we missed Kai's interactions with the Arlin pack without Patty around. It also appeared Patty had filled the whole pack in on his past with Edward, something we didn't get until he explained it to Kai near the end - meaning it was hinted at the whole book but not explained until very late in the piece. For me, this detrwcted from the overall storyline and flow a bit - I didn't get the same smooth read I did with book 1.

    I did like the care and connection between Patty and Kai, and their protective instincts for each other. Kai didn't have experience with normal packs, so struggled to trust that they could actually be the kind, fun and equal pack that they presented on the surface.

    I'm intrigued to see what happens with Chris and Dregan in the next book - and to hopefully see more of the spellcasters, and who the Dark Witch is. Bit of a cliffhanger ending in this one!

    This is a series I would recommend, and look forward to reading more of.
