About the author

I live by the sea in Plymouth, England, with my partner Dave. I like reading, sailing, and exploring in our camper van. I love getting up early to watch the sunrise in summer, and long quiet evenings by the wood burner in our cabin on the cliffs in Cornwall in winter.
I write traditional Regency romance novels that respect the mores of the era. I like to think my characters, though flawed, are likeable, strong, and true to the period.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 11, 2025Very interesting story with many unexpected revelations! A fascinating story. The ways that various characters’ lives unfold, and the consequences of each character’s actions (actions that occur both before the story begins and as the story unfolds) arise provides a very interesting and enjoyable read. We do reap what we sow!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2025I enjoyed this first book by Jenny Hambly and now look forward to reading more of her books in all of her series I must apologize for my ineptitude in not locating the comma and periods on my IPad. I too enjoy the well researched Regency era. Jenny Hambly gives such insights insight into the disparities between established men and women in times of inequality in society that also applied in social mores until the late 1960s my era of youth so I am able to relate. How I do love history and being able to travel through time and place in a good novel. Thank you very much and Kindle/Amazon.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2024This is the first time I have read a book by this author. It is clean, which I appreciate. It started off good and I was interested in the story/plot. However, some things seemed a little ridiculous. Eventually, I found myself not wanting to read this book over other books. (I easily read between 160-180 books a year.) However, I forced myself to stick with this book. Near the end, the story and climax was far too rushed with things happening at the "perfect" time and in the most "perfect" or desired way. That ruined it for me a bit because it took the suspense and fun out of it and made it less believable. The actual ending was good and wrapped things up well. I just wish certain scenes and/or parts of the plot hadn't been rushed. I may give this author one more try, but am going to give myself a break before I try another of her books.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2024This is the first book I have read from this author, but it will not be the last. It was well written and the story lines were good. The plot kept me interested the whole time - very well constructed. This was a very enjoyable read!

5.0 out of 5 stars An engrossing read
Two mysteries intersect and a romance is born. The concept of Ashwick Hall provides fodder for more to come and I look forward to them eagerly. Jenny Hambly has the gift of writing character in 3D, believable dialogue and twisty mysteries. I liked that hero and heroine each had their own challenges to resolve and that there are strong women as role models and wonderful men who love them.

5.0 out of 5 stars What's in a Name? By Jenny Hanbly
Excellent period romance. There is a intertwined storyline of different Characters from other books in the series. Every Character has depth. And will grow in your affection. Great book

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read for a lazy afternoon
Fast-paced, engaging without being exciting, and beautifully crafted language, this book will keep you entertained. Am not sure I will want to read this book again, but I will long remember the intriguing idea of a group of people helping women rendered helpless victims in a rigid and hypocritical patriarchy.
