About the author

After spending years creating stories in her head, Alex started writing them down and then found she couldn’t stop. Despite the late start, she now writes m/m romance about found families, sometimes with an historical feel—and the occasional werewolf.
Free from aspirations of literary greatness, Alex simply hopes to spin a good yarn of love and life, wrapped up with a happy ending. And if her characters have to go through Hell to get there, she’s a-okay with that.
Alex writes and walks on the South Coast of England—even when her heart and spellcheck are in New York.
You can now find her dark m/m romance under Alexis Jane, if you like love…but darker.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2016cob and Caleb are making the journey to be married in front of their respective packs. The two alphas, couldn't be happier. The children are even more excited to make the trip. If you don't count a case of nerves for both men, the trip seems to be going well. Unfortunately, Jacob's family makes a declaration that threatens to ruin everything.
Once again, the author has created an amazing story. As in the first book, it feels like I am a part of the period, it is so well constructed. But the heart and soul of this, is the love story, between Jacob and Caleb. It's the stuff that dreams are made of. I'd hitch my wagon to this star any day.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2016I liked this story and will probably continue with the series. It's well written and the romance between Jacob and Caleb is beautiful.
My only irritation with the story universe, and by extension the two main characters, is the casual acceptance they have of this genetic-lottery hierarchy they live under. Caleb and Jacob express virtually no sympathy, or barely any acknowledgement, that they live with a heinously unfair advantage simply because of how they were born. I read through the first two books of this series with almost nothing but sympathy for the so-called villain, Isaiah. I hope Isaiah gets some sort of forgiveness or at least acknowledgement in the later books, but it seems to me that his family brutally exiled him because he dared to show some emotion over an unfair, roll of the dice caste system that dictated his younger brother would one day be his ruler. Caleb, by his own admission, had no interest in the family business, and yet it would all be his one day to the exclusion of his older brother. I would be full of rage too.
The same goes for Jacob. While what Jacob's father did was quite abhorrent, Jacob still seems to show so sympathy or understanding for what it must be like to be a beta knowing that your own son will one day have more respect and authority than you simply because of how he was born. At one point, Jacob even suggests that his father has no authority in his own home or with his own family because he "isn't an Alpha." The whole thing is rather...icky elitist.
I hope this gets addressed in the later books and I especially hope to NOT see this hierarchy played out between young Tad and his older brother Ephraim. If it is, it will probably lead to me just flat out disliking Jacob and Caleb.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2016I love this author's world building and character development. I was torn about buying book one, because the premise seemed like it would be amazing or brutally awful, and I am so glad curiosity won out and I gave this a shot. The characters are well-established with distinctive voices, their relationships feel real, and the world is interesting and unique. The pacing is good, and the editing is clean. I've reread this several times and enjoyed it every one. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2016This was a good sequel for the boys to get some closure.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2016Good story and nice outcome to events. The realistic nature of children behavior is evident along with believable ups and downs prior to tying the knot. I would have enjoyed more Alpha behavior but the story works.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2021This was on the shorter side; it took me about 2 1/2 hours to read. The copy editing is much improved over the first book.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 4, 2016Books 1 and 2 of this series are well-written, engaging, and emotional. The characters evolve throughout the books and are handled quite efficiently as well as elegantly. It is easy to picture all of the action and to empathise with Caleb, Jacob, and the children during their trials and tribulations. I highly recommend this series to readers who like novels that pull them in emotionally.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2016This story should really be read AFTER the first book "Home Is Where You Are". Otherwise it will not make alot of sense and I do not consider this one to really be a stand alone novel. It is a continuation of Caleb and Jacob's story. In this one they are traveling home to New York and their families to get married, bringing their 3 children with them.
They encounter a bit of resistance but in the end they reconnect and Caleb and Jacob are surrounded by their loved ones when they marry one another.
All in all, it was a nice addition to the original story and made me smile to see these characters in action once again.
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant 2nd book carry on
I love these characters and story this book was about Caleb and Jacob going back home and confronting their pasts whether they be happy reconciliation or not. Some spelling mistakes in the book but did not detract from the story or the fantastic writing this author does. I'm pleased that this is going to be a carry on family story so that we can see what happens in the future to this little family. Only minor fault was it was not long enough and I just wanted to keep reading about this little family. Another favourite.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was dying to get my grabby little hands on this one and it did not disappoint. Painful
The second part to a series that continues to leave me rode hard and put up wet. I was dying to get my grabby little hands on this one and it did not disappoint. Painful, some times harrowing, but ultimately so satisfying. Love, learning, family, and a future to be had. I am champing at the bit to read the next one in the series, but I 'spose I'll just have to keep myself happy by re-reading the first two in the Alpha's Homestead series :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic story
I loved this sequel as much as the first one. Following on from the previous story with its truly amazing characters whom you do fall in love with. Caleb and Jacob are superb main characters and the supporting ones are just as fabulous. I am really looking forward to more of this series.

I’m really enjoying this series and I love shifter storylines . This is a bit unusual as it at the turn of the 20th century.
