    The sexual TENSION between these two is delicious, crackling with chemistry and waiting for the perfect moment to combust. I loved every bit of it. This forbidden romance will have you rooting for the bad guy, the man who wants nothing more than to end the relationship that he helped create - though there's a WHOLE lot more to it than that. The man who snaps and spars with our heroine is difficult to reconcile with the sweet and vulnerable guy the reader gets to know, but they're both sides to a hero who is complicated and living in torture. It's a storyline that I've never read before; not quite a love triangle, but something else entirely. Buckle up for an unpredictable, tension-filled ride from start to finish.

    The story follows River, a man living out a nightmare. He's a popular frat guy, a football star whose lost his shine, a man who should be getting ready to graduate, and a friend who has to watch the woman he dreams about fall for another guy. His life is slowly slipping away from him day after day, and watching Anastasia is both the best and worst kind of torture. Though River would love nothing more than to tell Anastasia how he feels, he's a loyal friend who knows he can never do so. The result is a strained, uneasy relationship between the two of them - Anastasia believes that River hates her, because he goes out of his way to draw a line between them. Their bickering causes a friction that feels an awful lot like chemistry, but neither one of them has any intention of acknowledging it.

    Fair warning: this is a slow, torturous burn where our heroine is in a relationship with another guy for much of the story. I wouldn't call it a love triangle, but it's all kinds of forbidden. It's a long time before Anastasia gets to know the River that the reader will fall for right away; their feud probably lasts a touch too long, but helps shape the way they interact with one another. I loved the unpredictability and unique feel of the storyline, and the tension is so, so good. It jumps off the page and hooks you in from the start. There were moments when I struggled with River and the lengths he goes to in order to distance himself from Anastasia, but the man is just so lovable that I couldn't be mad at him for long. There's the typical college drama mixed with a forbidden romance that overtakes the story. I never quite knew what was going to happen next, and that is all part of the appeal. If this is how the series kicks off, then I am SO looking forward to more. I was lucky enough to receive an early copy (then purchased it for my collection), and am voluntarily leaving a review of this forbidden romance.

    To summarize my thoughts from this book into one simple sentence: River Tate could get it.

    The Revenge Pact is everything I never knew I needed in a college football romance story all rolled into one beautiful packaged bind. This story just hits differently from Ilsa’s other pieces, and honey was I HERE FOR IT!!!

    Ilsa Madden-Mills gives us this beautiful depicted angsty love story with a strong heroine and almost tortured male character that when put together on the page an explosion of emotions burst forth in the most beautiful ways possible. I was entranced and enthralled during the entirety of my one sit binge.

    I could not for the life of me put this story down. Anastasia’s and Rivers relationship has probably become my favorite relationship to date from Mill’s work (which is saying a WHOLE lot because Dear Ava was what dreams are made of for me). I love how they started off with this unspoken distance with him pushing away because she is with someone else and her staying away because she believes he just hates her around.

    With everything else in my life, I love a character that has layers—and by god does River Tate come with layers; beautiful layers that with each chapter we get to peel aside to see this beautiful person more and more. There was so much depth and integrity with River that I am swooning at the thought of him. Ana, unlike River, is the outcast of the campus almost—no one understands how she got hitched to one of the frat boys since she comes packaged as a quirky, smart, and beautiful girl with bright lavender hair. She doesn’t come from money but is determined to make something of herself as a lawyer.

    A slow burn of the ages, Mills delivered with the Revenge Pact a poignant, angsty, and breathtakingly emotional novel about finding love in the places you least expect it and fighting for that love with everything you’ve got. If you are on the hunt for a powerful and amazingly wonderful contemporary new adult sport romance—this one is definitely for you!

    Anastasia and River have this forbidden tension filled journey that completely consumed me. I love the whole dynamic of their relationship from start to finish. Forbidden frenemies for the win.

    Anastasia is a girl who knows who she is and what she wants. Has her life been a perfect slew of events? No, absolutely not. But that's real. She grew and she evolved. She's the kind of girl who doesn't take any bull, who stands up for what she believes in but who is also willing to help anyone she can. So freaking sweet she's my girl crush.

    River is as River does. He's a little bit of a old soul with a slice of bad boy, a dash of cocky and a whole smidge of sweet. Do not be fooled by his sharp exterior, it's just his way of dealing with the wants he can't have. I adored his honest flaws, his sweet poetic words and his genuine want to help others. Ohhh and the dark broodiness? Yum.

    These two are fire!!!. It's blatantly obvious from the beginning that they were a whole year past needing to get freaky in the sheets. The tensions of it all
    I was on edge waiting, wanting more. I found myself highly amused at their bickering and banter that only served to add fuel to their already burning inferno. Their journey was by no means perfect but it fit them perfectly. Both characters had so much growth both individually as well as together and it was a rocky road to get to their HEA but I loved the heck out of the journey.

    It's emotionally driven and super relatable. I love the chemistry between all the characters and the flow of their journey. Despite the crazy it read perfectly. I laughed, swooned, ranted and raved. What more could I want from romance?.

    Honestly this is my first ever review of any book online and mind you I have read some amazing.. amazing .. ones but never got the pull to write a review. But this book.. this beautiful piece of art... Just amazed me. It's written so well. The writing is top notch, crisp to the point. You don't get to read about what a character is / is thinking / how it felt over and over again, same stuff written in different words and phrases. This girl here .. her writing is polished, she is better than the best ones out there. At least for me!
