This story was amazing, beautiful, heartbreaking, sad, inspirational and loving. Our hero is struggling musician Mason West is been having a hard time carrying a guilt that is heavy on his soul after loosing his girlfriend in a tragic accident . The only light in his life is his 4 year old daughter Brooklyn and he fights everyday to survive.Everything changes one night and he is giving the chance to rise as the lead singer of a famous Rock Band. This is where he mets our heroine Liberty, she is an incredible talented musician who is going through some hard times trying to repair a broken heart.The pull and attraction for each other is undeniable but their journey it's not an easy one.Author Alyson Santos delivers a truly amazing, soul touching story that is a must read.

    Suffering profound loss, how does one survive? When you have an infant daughter who’s now become your whole world, you do it by pushing through one day at a time. At least that’s how it is for Mason West, former almost rockstar, now struggling single dad. Liberty Blake just wants the pain of heartbreak and betrayal to pass so she and her band mates can move on to salvage what’s left of their band. The last thing she wants is another egotistical frontman to replace the one they lost. Doesn’t this sound like the makings for an interesting story? Well, you’d be partially correct, but it’s SO much more than that.

    This is a powerfully evocative and highly emotional tale. The intense imagery elicits such deep feelings that at times it’s like your own heart is breaking, while at others you may feel such pure joy. You will most likely be brought to tears a time or three. There are also many times that will make you smile, if not actually laugh. Most of those involve Mason’s daughter, Brooklyn, who is someone with whom you’ll absolutely fall in love. All the characters are so well drawn that even though the focus is on the MC’s, you can’t help but feel connections to the others as well. The narrative draws you in effortlessly, grabbing your attention from the start, keeping you enthralled throughout, and leaving you completely satiated at the very end.

    Ms. Stiles is a new author for me. This is the first of her stories I’ve read, but it certainly won’t be the last. The manner in which she uses Katrina’s journal entries to fill in Mason’s emotional backstory throughout the book is unobtrusive and yet so dynamically impactful that it becomes an integral part of their present. The effect of her writing will resonate with you beyond the last page. Fair warning, this is not a book you can easily walk away from. So be prepared, if you start reading at bedtime, to lose some sleep. You will surely need tissues close by and may find yourself chuckling out loud a few times. But one thing I can guarantee is you’ll only be sorry if you don’t read this amazing story.

    "Rising West" is a quick and enjoyable read.
    This is the first book by this author that I have read.
    The pacing of the romance worked and made sense. The proximity of being bandmates and the connection between them fits well into this type of romance. The pacing of the storytelling however was a bit on the slower side. It did take a while to hook me and have me rooting for these characters.
    Overall I would say a 3.5 star rating. I rounded up to 4. I struggled with the choice the author made in using the journal entries from the hero's late fiance. It often took me out of the story.

    This was my first book by this author and it will not be my last! I love Rockstar romances and this book felt like getting an inside look at the music industry. That is until fate brings him an opportunity of a lifetime in the form of an audition with music sensation Burn Card.

    The only thing that stands in his way is Liberty Blake, a woman not easily swayed by a sexy man with a beautiful and enchanting voice. Betrayed by a front man once before, she doesn’t want to be the cliche female in love with the lead singer but their connection is undeniable. The lyrics Mason and Liberty write together was one of my favorite parts of the story, opening their hearts to one another and connecting through pain and healing. Through the drama and pain that comes with being in the limelight, they become something that no rumor can break, a love of a lifetime.

    I haven’t come across anything by this author before, but a Facebook ad really sucked me in. I knew I had to read this book because the premise sounded so different from the usual Rock Romance books you see.

    Mason is a single Dad. His beautiful fiancee died a few months after giving birth to his gorgeous daughter Brooklyn. When she died he was 19 years old. He had to give up his fledgling rock career and get a job to pay for his little girl. For four years he’s been working construction and barely making ends meet, being helped out by Brooklyn’s grandparents and babysitters. He still plays the odd gig and is thinking about giving up the music forever because he’s just exhausted. Then he gets a booking, he thinks might be his last and plays his socks off. A manager is in the crowd and asks him to audition for an established rock band that’s lost it’s lead singer.

    The reason this book is so different is that is really three love stories in one. Mason’s first love is and always will be his daughter. She is everything to him. The second love story is in the diary we read that his lost fiancee wrote about their relationship. The third love story is about Mason and Liberty and their shared passion for music.

    This is a layered and subtle book that is moving and beautiful in equal parts. I was really blown away by the lyrics written for the songs that were intermingled with the dual points of view of Mason and Liberty.

    I really loved this book. I now want to read all of this author’s other works because if they are as good as this one, I need to have them in my life. You need to read this if you love beautiful stories about vulnerable people trying to live the best lives they can.

    The story is beautifully written, the lead Mason is the real deal. I love an author can create such a beautiful soul. This man will have you in his thrall. There’s no conceit, or arrogance he’s a genuinely all round good guy. Single dad whose life has been one of struggle, abandonment and loss. His daughter Brooklyn is the shining light that gets him through.

    When an opportunity is presented he’ll have to escape the ghosts of his past and accept the talent he has is destined for greatness.

    Seriously loved this read.

    Everything about this book gave me goosebumps its beautiful.

    Im not someone that cries a lot but i did reading this, the characters are so well developed and interact perfectly you can feel what they do to the point you want to help them get through the hard times and celebrate the good ones.

    Alyson certainley knows how to write complex main characters like Mason and Liberty and its beautiful to read, she manages it time and time again.

    This book truely touched my soul.

    I really cant wait for the next book in this series.
