Risking It All (Code Of Honor Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 1,509 ratings

A Crumpet Christmas is the perfect time to fall in love.

When a mission goes south, Elijah Cobalt is forced to take medical leave. What could be better than relaxing in a small town and keeping an eye on his little sister at the same time? Nothing, until he gets his first look at his sister’s boss. Elijah has always felt bulky and big around the smaller type of men he prefers and around Justin Bailey, it’s the same damned thing.

Justin gave up dating big, muscled men after his breakup with his abusive boyfriend, but he just might make an exception when his café manager’s older brother takes over his spare bedroom. The instant attraction has sparks flying and, after a few days, Justin doesn’t want to fight it any longer.

Christmas is a magical time of year.
The power of love takes over.
Possibilities are endless.

Until Justin’s ex-boyfriend suddenly shows up out of the blue determined to cause as much trouble for him as possible. Only Justin has a support system now, in the form of a Special Forces Unit, and things are going to get really damned intense in a very short amount of time.

Mess with one and you mess with them all.

Author note: The men of Infinity are back in Reese Knightley’s Code of Honor book two. Risking It All is a fast paced, insta-love, alpha male, twinky baker, action and adventure Christmas story set in the fictional town of Crumpet, Washington, where it snows on the beach in the winter and Christmas is the most magical time of the year. This book is part of a series but can be enjoyed as a standalone. *Code of Honor, Cobalt Security, and Out For Justice series are loosely connected.

I absolutely love this book and it is permanently going on my holiday read list.

Justin just wants to run his cafe and take care of his friends - but he's got a problem in the form of an obsessive, deranged ex bf. Enter Elijah, an Army Special Ops officer on medical leave and staying in Justin's guest room while visiting his sister - who happens to work for Justin. Add in Christmas in a small beach town and you have all the ingredients for the perfect holiday romance. There's a little danger, lots of annoying but loving friends, and an entire squad of Army Ops descending en-masse and I was totally hooked and completely captivated. Such an amazingly good book and well worth reading!

Good book. I enjoy Reese's books and the strong military men and women who come together to protect on of their own, I love seeing that happen every time. Loved Justin, how sweet and caring he is and how he helps out other troubled people. Loved Elijah and him together. This was a very sweet book with Christmas in the air, more so than her other books, and I liked it. This is a low angst book with some action, a bad guy lurking in the shadows just asking to be beat and an adorable HEA. Looking forward to more books.

Unbelievable, each series just gets better and better. I like the suspense and intense drama with Justin and Elijiah in the midst of all of this trauma discovering a love connection for one another. I recommend this book by Reese Knightley, great book, looking forward to the next edition in this series.

This is an author who is hit or miss for me. I like her Cobalt Security series but didn’t like her Out for Justice first book at all and didn’t continue the series. This was somewhere between the two. I liked the plot and what was eventually revealed about the characters’ family backgrounds, although Elijah’s is basically an afterthought. I didn’t care for the carbon copy characters or the instalove but did like that they didn’t fall into bed right away. I liked the plot but felt it was somewhat uneven. I don’t remember the first in this series, so it must not have made much of an impression. I’d be interested if there was a crossover between Logan and Macy but I’m not sure if I care about the Liam/Spencer story that also looks like it might be setting up.

Justin is a kind hearted man that spots those that have endured domestic violence and need a safe haven to heal. Justin has to deal with an EX reining terror in his life. We have Elijah a elite special operations soldier that is battling PTSD after rescuing his sister from Domestic Violence. Elijah had a PTSD event during a horrific mission so he is on medical leave and visiting his sister during his recovery. This is a fast pace story with lots of layers. A great page turner! V2, S2

5.0 out of 5 stars Alpha military men and women fighting danger
Reviewed in Germany on October 9, 2022
This is one of eight books in the Code of Honor series. These books take you through the lives of the men and women who deal with the dangerous world we live in. Reading these books is like being a journalist embedded with a military unit. But the jobs these military members do are always done in top secret and must remain that way. Their military units have missions that are often off-the-books types. The world we live in is truly a dangerous place and seems to be getting more dangerous every day. These soldiers deal with the danger and help keep us safe. As an observer of their lives and jobs you will find joy and sadness, bringing tears and heartbreak. The eight books are standalones but I recommend you start with book one and go from there. The main characters are sprinkled through all eight books making the series read line one large novel. Recommended reading!

4.0 out of 5 stars Holiday shoot em up. What we all need
Reviewed in Canada on December 6, 2019
This holiday novella starts off almost like a typical one. A military man heads off to a small town and falls for the baker.

Well in typical Reese fashion, that doesn’t last very long. We get our explosions and the story really opens up.

I loved this book. The characters are strong and sassy. The slow burn between Elijah and Justin makes you bounce as they navigate the rough situation that is Justin’s past.

If you like your explosions and your Hallmark movies to mix, this is the book for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable read
Reviewed in Australia on April 4, 2020
An enjoyable read and great addition to the series. The grammar/spelling issues that plagued the first book weren't evident in this one, so that was a plus. The characters were interesting, and well developed. The storyline flowed well for the most part, but I found some sections towards the end got a little choppy - the revealing of secrets and insta-love between Elijah and Justin didn't quite work for me amidst the rest of the action and drama.

That said, I still enjoyed it, and loved seeing the tension between Spencer and Liam which we got a little taste of in the first book. Looking forward to reading more in the series.

2.0 out of 5 stars Almost good
Reviewed in Canada on December 24, 2020
Ok, that was almost good. I was really excited to read this book and it definitely started out pretty good. But then it became too much, too unrealistic, and every cliché thrown in.
    Where to start?
A shooting occurs at the lighting ceremony and even though the main suspect isn't caught the town decides to redo it and everyone shows up? Uh, no. People would 100% be traumatized and the town wouldn't put their citizens at risk.
And the army wouldn't send in there Special Forces to protect them, relatives or not.
Elijah is in Special Forces but it's a big secret so don't tell anyone. And Justin is a senators son but it's a secret so don't tell anyone.
And apparently Elijah and his whole family are millionaires?
And can we talk about how little they interacted with the cops in the town. A driveway shooting and Justin rushes Elijah to the hospital where no one meets them or realizes they are there. And then takes him to a safe place that's impenetrable? Come on!
I was excited, especially as I read about some of the other characters like Macy and Tinley but nope it was like every Bruce Willis movie I ever saw.....so over the top unbelievable.
