Rose & Laurie Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 7 ratings

A contemporary story set partly in London, partly in Edinburgh and mostly on the Scottish island of Arran, Rose and Laurie is about loyalty and love, sadness and betrayal, as well as forgiveness and new starts.
With mysteries to be solved, relationships to forge and romances rekindled, it’s a character driven story that goes on a journey with twists and turns on the way.

Rose, an outgoing, feisty woman, enjoys a challenge.
She lives in London, with her husband, has a fulfilling job and a daughter at university.
Her life is all mapped out - until she's blown off course by events outwith her control.
Laurie lives a quiet life with her mother on the Scottish Island of Arran.
Unmarried and childless, she struggles with disruption and uncertainty.
When her mother's dementia necessitates moving her into a nursing home, Laurie sees only loneliness ahead - until she uncovers something that explains her past and will change her future.
When their separate journeys bring them together, Rose and Laurie find they have more in common than they could ever have guessed.

What a fabulous story! I loved reading this Christine Campbell book so much. I needed to pace myself so I made it take longer. Rose and Laurie and all the characters feel so real to me, I’m riding along within their lives. I laughed and I cried. Very moving and enjoyable book. Thank you! I want to visit that beautiful island now too! Where to next?

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful, poignant and emotional story.

As with all of Christine Campbell's other books that I've had the pleasure of reading, Rose and Laurie did not disappoint.
A very emotional and poignant story, set partly in Edinburgh, partly in London, and on the beautiful isle of Arran.
Maybe it made a difference that I read most of the book whilst on holiday on Arran, but it did bring the story to life to be able to visit many of the places described in the book.
It's a story of family ties, rediscovered love, tinged with some sadness and regret. But with a happy and satisfying ending.
I'm now very much looking forward to reading the sequel, Island Ties.

I liked the way the book intriguingly explores the different characters in the book from early on to the amazing climax.
