About the author

I am an Idaho native who grew up dreaming about traveling the world and writing stories. I would often spend my spare time curled up with my favorite blanket and a notebook, writing another fairy tale. I never would have guessed those fairy tales would one day grow into gay romances, but that is where my heart led me and I am so glad it did. I write about love because I believe it can happen to anyone, with anyone. I also believe dreams never expire, redemption is possible, and true forgiveness can heal us in ways we never expect. I know firsthand how messy life can get, but as any artist will tell you, a little mess is needed to create something beautiful. That’s why I write, to help others see that anything can be beautiful. You can often find me with a mug of coffee in one hand and a dog toy in the other. There is never a day that goes by without my sweet boy insisting on a game - or twenty - of fetch.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2019Roxy’s Recovery is a great book! Alex and Vaughn are such sweet guys it’s so nice to see them develop a relationship together. Roxy is a total pug and I love that she has a doggy best friend-the way they play together is awesome!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2020So, I’m a sucker for a hot dad, even if it is the dad of a fur baby instead of a real one. Vaughn is too, apparently, at least he is when he runs into an unkempt man and his injured dog in the pouring rain.
Alex has nothing left in this world but a few cents, an inherited harmonica and the puppy his dad gifted him before he passed. After falling on hard times and trusting the wrong man, Alex is lost and wandering, trying to just not give up. If not for his little pug, Roxy, he might have. With no destination in mind and nothing to do when he gets there, Alex has been wandering for months. It was pure luck that the man who stopped to help him and Roxy on the side of the highway, was Vaughn.
First things first, Vaughn has a huge heart and while it might sometimes leap before it looks, you just can’t help but fall in love with him. When he sees a down on his luck drifter with pain in his eyes, he offers him a place to stay while he and his dog heal and in return he can do some landscaping work around Vaughn’s clinic. He didn’t plan to fall for the mystery man and his dog, but after taking things slow, earning his trust and getting to know him… he didn’t stand a chance.
Healing after a toxic and/or abusive relationship is tricky and there are a lot of do’s and don’ts there that Alex needed to get through before things could progress with the nice man helping him and Roxy. He didn’t want to do anything to mess up the deal they’d made but he also couldn’t help but falling for the sweet man that just seemed to keep offering everything he and Roxy needed. He was hesitant to accept it because he didn’t want to get thrown back into the same type of relationship he was in before. He knew Vaughn wouldn’t physically hurt him, but he was wary. Rightfully so….
It took the two some time to get to where they needed to be and even then, it’s tossed around by a few speed bumps that had me broken hearted for both of them. I thought they both were too darn stubborn and misunderstandings and confused feelings had a lot of the blame. Understandably though, especially when you’re getting to know someone and figuring out how to navigate a relationship. I loved both of these guys, and I adored them together. I wish the ex that popped up would’ve gotten a bigger dose of karmic justice, but meh…. Not everyone is as petty as me LOL
Such a cute ending, loved to see inside the head of Roxy for a cute minute and really wouldn’t mind reading more about these two in the future!
Very cute read.
4 stars from me!

This is considered a short read for me and I usually pass on them. But I am a sucker for a dog story since I got my pooch, Sassy. Yes, my little gal's name is Sassy. Trust me, it fits her.
The reason I struggle so badly with short reads is that there is always so much pushed into the story making it feel rushed. I had the opposite struggle with this story. There wasn't enough going on to fill the amount of pages it was. It moved a bit slow with not a lot of development. The book could have been shorter in my opinion since it dragged a bit. There was also a confrontation in the book I felt didn't need to be in there. It was bit OTT for me.
I did enjoy their relationship and liked them together. There was definitely a good foundation that was built between them. The cute pups helped.
All in all it was an enjoyable easy read.
Happy reading dolls! xx
- Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2019Wow, wow, wow! I don’t think a book has ever made me feel this good about humanity! Kim Breyon truly portrays what can happen when we open our hearts and give selflessly. A page turner from beginning to end, in the preface of 'Roxy’s Recovery' these words from Mother Teresa ring true throughout its pages:
“In this life, we cannot always do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
As a pug owner, of course the little mug on the cover of Roxy’s Recovery caught my eye (and Breyon knows the breed well.) However, the idea of what could happen if we throw caution to the wind sold me and I was not disappointed.
How might a good Samaritan feel letting a stranger into his home and heart? How might a homeless man feel about a handout and baring his soul? You can feel a simmer of angst building, which Kim Breyon tempers with growing attraction, leaving a secret to fester in the background. Meanwhile all the “what ifs” make for a beautiful depiction of reality and remind us anything can happen if we give someone a chance.
What I appreciate about Vaughn is his immediate ability to discreetly offer Alex aid without hitting the man’s pride, and in turn Alex wants to be a better man for Vaughn. Ultimately this results in age-old questions: When we do decide we don’t want to separate; we want to be a couple? Who crosses the threshold of admission first, dodging the fear of rejection?
Kim Breyon magically brings passion to the forefront with intense yet simple feeling descriptions such as, “I continued to chase the high,” and sexual innuendos that had me wondering if Vaughn reached inside my private thoughts.
Throw in an ensemble cast of supporting characters – such as an overprotective sister, a pregnant “due-any-day” office assistant, helpful technicians, a brief encounter from a supportive mother, and last but not least, two loveable dogs who paw their way into your heart – and Kim Breyon couldn’t present a better package.
Do I want more of this? You’re absolutely right I do! Kim Breyon’s writing is engaging and thoughtful as they breathe life and reality into their characters. 'Roxy’s Recovery' might be my first dive into this author’s world but with talent like this… I guarantee it will not be my last.
