I enjoyed this book. This is book two in the Vampyres Source series. Kyella and her men are back. They are still exploring their relationship ship. They are also trying to make a life together in Tridian. Something happens to Kyella. Now everyone is gearing up for war. Read the book to see where Kyella and her men end up. Will they go to war? What will Kyella role be? The story is flowing along nicely. I’m excited for book three. Can’t wait to see what Kyella and her men get up to next.

    We begin exactly where we left off, with Kyella in the hands of her tormentors that the Emperor sent to abduct her from her new beginning.

    this book in the series started out darker, there is more physical and mental torment. But it is just a very small part of this wonderful story. It happens at the very beginning of the book, and we get into a better understanding and knowledge of just how strong our FMC truly can be, and how this affects her and compelled her to become an even stronger version of herself.

    As I followed Kyella’s journey through the horrific scene of being captured and tortured I was so very inspired by her inner strength and her truest belief in herself to get through these moments and never lose sight of her goals of getting back to her men and the new friends that she is building. She isn’t going to wait around to be saved, even though she knows with every fiber of her being that her men will stop at nothing to get her back…but Kyella is determined to find her own way out of this temporary nightmare.

    This book is truly a must read! I was taken through so many emotions from ugly crying to laughing like a loon! Kyella has the personality and keen awareness that her life and her future is so much bigger than she ever imagined or believed it would be.

    There is so much action and things that happen to Kyella and her men that unfortunately I can’t get into without spilling the tea! 🫖 and I won’t ruin your enjoyment and all the discoveries that you will find as you start your own journey with Kyella!!!

    So hurry and download this BOOK now!!! Laugh and cry with Kyella and you too will be drawn into this fantastic world that I didn’t want to leave!!!

    It starts off really strong, picking up where the last book ended. Then there's kind of a lull. The focus shifts to preparing for war, but they spend no time looking for either dead guards or betrayers. So of course, this leads to more betrayal. It doesn't end on a cliffhanger like last time, although you may want some tissues near the end of the book. There are still many unanswered questions - but it also seems like they're not focused on finding answers. I'm sorry, but if sea monsters suddenly appeared to eat a ship, I'd want to know why/how before launching an army of ships across the ocean. That just seems extremely relevant to me!

    After reading Ruthless Blood, I was eager to read the next in the series with a wishlist of what we'd get to see. Book 2 was everything I could ask for and more!

    Kyella is as fierce as ever, but now we get to experience her vulnerability as well, which only adds a depth to her character I am obsessed with! I am so excited to root for her through the grand finale of this series. We got to explore the guys more as well, and oh did the heat get turned up a notch! I loved seeing their support for Kyella beyond just romance, you can see how much they CARE for her.

    The story itself is fast paced and getting more intense by the minute! I forsee needing a glass of wine and a cold shower for book 3!

    I loved the writing but this book was sort of lacking to me. I had to actually push myself to finish and I have never felt that way about RL Caulder or M Sinclair books before. I wish I loved this more but it just didn’t have enough action for me. Like yes the ending had a big thing happen, but it felt tone deaf to me. It didn’t have some crazy emotion coming from me in reaction to it. It was good, just wished I loved it more.

You can feel the tension and suspense building as you progress in the story and I have a feeling it will be a glorious explosion in the final installment.     Well after the first book I really tried... But I can't bring myself to care for Kyella. And the internal monologues of the others are just annoying.
    Don't want to give spoilers so I will just point out that the timeline doesn't make sense, friends family and home don't develop within three days...
    Such a shame, still the story could have been so good. Previously I really enjoyed books from M. Sinclair but this series doesn't do it for me.

    5 stars - less than a day to read because I cannot put it down. I only give 5 stars if it has managed to engage extra emotions from me - extreme lol moments or real teary moments etc. A 5 stars book tends to have me raging about cliff hangers and (legally and not creepily) stalking the author for release dates.

    4 stars - 2 days to read or less. A book that I have quite enjoyed reading, feisty MC and some racy scenes with thier romantic interest. I would definitely follow a series and author for 4 star books.

    3 stars - takes around 2/3 days to read, usually because I have become distracted and less engaged in some sections but by the end the end I have enjoyed the overall story and would read any sequels.

    1/2 stars not given, as I have usually returned it without finishing as I'm not engaged. .

    The continued detailed world building of this series continues to captivate me immersing me alongside the characters.

    One of my favourite things in any book or series is character growth and development. I adore the way Kyella's relationships with her guys grows and develops. They are possessive and protective in how they love her but they don't cage her in, they allow her to flourish. One of the best things about this group is how their feelings mirror each other as Kyella is just as possessive and protective of her guys.

    We get to learn more about the Empress and watch her relationship with Kyella develop, the mutual awe and respect makes me like Myrin even more.

    The plot twist that comes was definitely not what I was expecting leaving me with tears in my eyes.
