About the author

Nigel May has written and published eight novels so far crossing various different genres. He is an all-rounder in the entertainment world working as an author, TV and radio host.
He has hosted on the UK's leading craft TV channel, Create And Craft TV, for many years and has established himself as a firm viewer favourite. On radio he hosts a weekly national radio show on Gaydio called Wrapping Up The Weekend interviewing celebrities from around the world.
His six page-turning glam fiction novels have all been published by Bookouture. As a glam fiction author he has been described as "the UK's male Jackie Collins" and "the readers' Viagra".
His first glam fiction novel was TRINITY, an action-packed blockbuster (or bonkbuster) about the lives of the rich and famous and three young women at the heart of it. Glamour, beauty, fame and celebrity mix with murder, intrigue and danger to create an explosive novel which gained incredible reviews and fans across the globe.
The glitz-meets-grit whodunit ADDICTED was another huge success and once again dived into the diamond-dipped world of the mega-rich as four women face their demons. But all of the money and celebrity fame in the world do not guarantee a happy ending. Especially for one of them...
SCANDALOUS LIES is steeped in secrets, sin, sex and scandal and takes readers around the world as a mysterious celebrity disappearance is investigated. Will weathergirl Georgia be able to find out what is behind her best friend's inexplicable vanishing before it's too late?
Spicy crime on overload for DEADLY OBSESSION, a gritty and glamorous psychological tale set in gangland Manchester that is dynamic and thrilling in all areas to the very last page. When Amy sees her husband gunned down at their nightclub, The Kitty Kat Club, she faces life as a young widow. But then six months later, a letter arrives from beyond the grave...
LOVERS AND LIARS is a truly tropical burst of storytelling where money and sex go hand in hand with murder. When Millionaire playboy Sheridan Rivers is found dead at his luxurious hotel on the paradise island of Barbados, there are several suspects in the frame. But who delivered the fatal blow?
Completing his sexy six-pack, REVENGE is a total page-turner. In the South of France, playground of the rich and famous, world renowned chef Dexter Franklin is organising a night to remember. As he opens the doors to his exclusive restaurant for the first time, he’s handpicked a list of guests, as hot and dazzling as the St Tropez sun itself. Three women have a past with Dexter and a grudge to bear against him. As fireworks ignite in the jet set capital of Europe, there’s murder on the menu. Who will be served their just desserts?
He has also written a psychological thriller called THE GIRL UNKNOWN. It's the story of Lucie Palmer, a girl attempting to rebuild her life, one that she has long believed to be cursed. To finally piece together the emptiness in her existence before it's too late. But it would appear that something or someone is determined to stop her for good.
His first cosy crime novel is called QUILLING ME SOFTLY, a mystery based around a craft group set in a sleepy English village. When one of the locals is found dead, at first everyone assumes it is down to old age. Everyone, that is, except Violet Brewer, owner of the village wool shop, Brewer's Loop, who is certain that murder is on the cards.
His glam fiction books have been Amazon best sellers and chart toppers, read by celebrities and fellow authors alike, and have proved that a man can successfully write in a 'glam fiction bonkbuster world' that has always been a strongly female domain.
Nigel was also the only male writer amongst 44 authors featured in the chart-topping, beach-read anthology of short-stories SUNLOUNGER. He also contributed a short story to SUNLOUNGER 2.
He regularly presents on UK TV and has featured on Channel 4, C5, ITV and broadcast live from America. He is also one of the UK's most popular craft personalities, having launched his own successful range, A-May-Zing and was named Male Crafting Personality in the Crafts Beautiful Awards.
As a showbiz writer he has written for many of the UK's most successful magazines and newspapers, specialising in showbiz and celebrity, as well as writing on subjects ranging from relationships through to exotic travel.
He lives in Brighton and his hobbies include theatre, keep fit, Eurovision, the '80s, retro soap opera, flea markets and flaunting the body positive.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2015I really enjoyed this book, loads of stuff going on and you never knew where the twists and turns were going to take you! A fabulous book and an all around great read!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2015‘This whole industry is built on scandalous lies, so what’s new?’
News is I’ve read a bonkbuster and I liked it, I liked it a lot! After years of avoiding books with explicit sex scenes I actually read a bonkbuster and I enjoyed every second of it. Obviously I don’t have a problem with contemporary romance with lots of sex in it, however I’ve been reading the wrong books thinking all bonkbusters are crap. But Nigel May proved me wrong, he actually proved to me I can enjoy a hot, steamy sex scene as long as it’s good written. And seriously, Mr May can write a bloody damn good sex scene (fair warning though, bit kinky at times)! I see the whole ‘Grey’ craze and the buzz around EL James’s books and get sick at the thought of so many people thinking what she writes is steamy sex. If you don’t believe me, you should try this book and see what I’m talking about. Mr May can teach EL James how to write a good sex scene!
But in ‘Scandalous Lies’ there’s a good dose of mystery too. In fact, despite the amount of sex in this book, it’s the mystery element that drives the plot. A famous couple from UK is missing, last time seen in Hell’s Canyon. No one knows the reasons for their disappearance, however they do know Mitzi and Foster are not the suicidal type or type of people someone would hate that much to kill them. The investigations stop soon and seems police has no answers, but Mitzi’s friends are still not giving up on her, looking for ways to find her, especially after it was announced that Foster’s body was found. They don’t believe Mitzi is capable of killing Foster, as she was so in love with the guy.
‘Scandalous Lies’ introduces us to so many characters and their stories, I admit sometimes I had trouble in keeping track and even wondered what do this characters have in common with Mitzi and her disappearance. However, by the end of the book everything falls into its place and makes perfect sense, giving us the closure we’re after.
You know how things are with the celebrities, right? There’s a certain cliche in these kind of books, but honestly I don’t mind. I do find these books (no matter if they are fiction or memoirs) really fascinating. I’m transported to a world so different from my own, and connecting with this characters is really challenging. But that’s what makes these celebrity books full of glamour so fun and special for me.
Sex, scandal, rivalry, filthy rich people, divas, mystery, drama, this book has it all. It’s the perfect beach read you will not be able to put down. The only reason why I’m not giving it a higher rating is the fact that the end seemed bit rushed and with so many characters involved I was lost at times. But still, I was impressed with the mystery element and I couldn’t predicted the ending at all.
This is the 3rd book by Mr May, his previous being ‘Trinity’ and ‘Addicted’ and seems that some of the characters in ‘Scandalous Lies’ can also be found in his previous books. I was thrilled to found out about this as I’m definitely looking forward to reading more about Evie, Victoria, Georgia, Nova, Charlie, etc.
Speaking of characters, I loved Georgia and how she doesn’t give up on finding her friend. I think I would be slightly more convinced in their genuine friendship if Mr May included more scenes from Georgia and Mitzi’s history. But I was still rather pleased with both of these characters, though they are so diverse. I was surprised to find that I liked even Victoria, who’s the weakest of them all, and even develops a drug addiction. As I woman, I could feel her pain and fear over losing her family, though I couldn’t approve of the way she handles things. But there was a certain balance between the characters, some were striving for perfection and some are too flawed, but I guess everything is possible in the world of stars.
Overall this is a fantastic, easy, light read perfect for relaxing on this heat. Make sure you have the air con on max, because if the heat outside doesn’t make you melt, Mr May’s writing sure will. I’ll definitely be checking out Mr May’s other books and will certainly be on a watch out for his next.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2016Love Nigel Mays books, sweeps you right in and can't put it down. Can't wait for the next book out!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2015Good book but filled with Typos!!!! So many misspellings!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2015Loved it. Could not put the book down and will be reading your other books
- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2023The prologue in Scandalous Lies by Nigel May pulled me in immediately! Nigel writes in a way that makes it so you can't help but visualize what is going on, with just the right amount of detail. Reading it reminded me of John Marrs' writing: every character has their own storyline that intertwines with others in ways a reader doesn't expect. I also swore I knew what was going to happen but was wildly wrong, which I love.
I deducted a star because Scandalous Lies started to drag, even though there are so many characters (over 15 that we regularly hear from), and I found myself caring less and less. Also, we get a long-winded data dump at the end instead of a few crumbs sprinkled throughout, which I hate.
Ava Blair has a great tone, but I found myself wanting more variety/range from her.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2016Great novel, good reading enjoyed it
- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2023There was a lot going on in this book. So many secrets and ploys and ruthless people.
The plot is great. It starts of slow and picks up pace the further along you get. The last 10 chapters I simple could not stop reading and the ending is somewhat happy.
The characters are all complex and live their own lives. I love how everybody and everything entwines in the story and things truly start to make sense. The confusing things become clear and I was truly surprised about the ending and the reason for everything.
All in all, a great book that truly picks up at the end

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best escapes going... give it a go!
I loved Nigel's last two books, so was delighted when I saw he'd released a new one. All of Nigel's hallmarks are here- wonderful caricatures of celebrity, devious deceitful divas, a craft reference that pops up every book, beautiful people and stories that twist and turn. I read this cover to cover (or should that be first page to last page with an ebook?) in one long morning. This happens every time with Nigel's books, I get in, I get hooked. I love the way he introduces every character, giving little bites of their full back story as you go, how he describes each characters appearance and tbe settings so well you get a picture in yourand you're right there with them. How he uses characters and places from previous books, how I'm either giggling at a cutting line one minute then creeped out the next by some malevolent individual the next, describing the celebrity culture (which I am not a follower of) in such an over the top, outlandish way you relate as that is how you imagine such OTT people to be! As much as I love 'Addicted' and 'Trinity' I have to say this is the best book yet, Nigel was an accomplished writer to start with having worked as a journalist but with each book the writing is (even) more absorbing, the characters (even) more detailed and the finale (even) more unexpected. As a "beach read" I've read a hell of a lot worse in print, as a piece of fun, gripping, sexy escapism I've read few better. Well done Nigel!

4.0 out of 5 stars Scandalously Hot!
Scandalous Lies: Scandalously Hot! Nigel May is just what I needed for my summer read. Mr.May put Jackie Collins to shame, he is Brittains version of Jacqueline Susann I'd say and that is a compliment. Outlandish plots, well crafted characters that you can't get enough of as he takes his readers on a never-wanna-leave journey into the world he creates. Sexy, glitzy and sandalous, yes scandalously good. I love how effertless Nigel May travels across the globe with the stroke of his wand masqued as a pencil. I higly recommend Scandalous Lies for anyone who want a sexy read during the summer months. But beware, you won't get much else done. It's that good!

5.0 out of 5 stars Allow yourself to become ensnared in a web of scandalous lies!
This is the third deliciously delectable outing that Nigel May invites us on, with a tale of sordid secrets and 'scandalous lies.'
The story begins with Mitzi Bidgood (a reality TV professional dancer) and her boyfriend, Foster, witnessing a gruesome murder whilst on holiday in the middle of nowhere, in California. When they are discovered, a chase ensues and what fate belies the two of them sets the premise of the novel.
Of course, intrigue is then set to maximum.
Nigel treats us to a host of characters, who you will either love to hate, or hate to love; all of whom come to life with their own dramas, intrigue and that little niggling thought in the back of the readers mind of: "are you the one who did it?" But did what, exactly? And to whom? (As a personal note, I find Nigel seems to excel at drawing the more larger-than-life characters; those who are on the higher scale of ostentatious, flamboyant and who can really vamp it up! He makes for a rather fine protégé to the late, great Jackie Collins).
As with his other novels ('Trinity' and 'Addicted') the first half of the novel sets the scene of getting to know the characters:
* Georgia Bellamy, weathergirl, and her breakfast TV presenter boyfriend, Charlie Cooper are the one's who are on a mission to find out exactly what happened to Mitzi and Foster. Where are they? Are they dead? And if so, who is responsible for killing them? As always with this genre of novel, things are never as clear cut as they initially seem.
* Victoria Palmer-Roberts, who is a manic depressive and secretly dependant upon anti-depressants and pain killers for her own good, along with her husband, Scott, who is having second thoughts about the strength of the marriage.
* Chloe, the nanny employed by Victoria and Scott, who doesn't always stick to the duties of her job description
* Nova Chevalier, an internationally famous reality TV star, who is a typical diva but has a heart of pure gold, especially where her husband, Jacob, and son are concerned.
* Jack Christie, recently released from a 5-year prison sentence, reunites with his former partner-in-crime, Andy and wants to carry on where he left off.
* Tanya & Devon Bellamy - she's the daughter of a Russian oligarch, who has a rather unorthodox taste in sexual proclivities and he is many years her senior, with a dark side and every reason to believe his second marriage will be a case of 'history repeating itself'.
* Aaron Rose, a fame hungry individual who has a lot to offer the right girl...or this girl...or that girl!! (Food and gardening do mix!!!!!!! You'll have to read to find out exactly what that means.)
As with any good bonkbuster, locations are set across the world: LA, India, Milan, London, Mexico and Gran Canaria.
There are also some very cute references to characters/locations of Nigel's previous novels, including that of Evie Merchant, who plays quite a pivotal role in this novel.
Nigel is a true master of his craft, allowing the reader to be caught up in the characters' crossovers slowly being revealed in dramatic style, whilst rewarding us with plenty of twists and turns throughout and all, with the ability to keep the identity of 'whodunnit' right until the very last! If this is your kind of guilty pleasure, allow yourself to become ensnared in a web of scandalous lies!

5.0 out of 5 stars I was drawn in from the start! Sexalicious and scandalous!
Hurry up with novel number 4 pease Nigel!
Within the first few paragraphs, you get a sense of the sauciness to be expected in the book! Talk about a blush moment within 5 minutes of reading!
Nigel once again has the brilliant knack of giving you a perfect picture of every person, and has a way of drawing you in to their personalities and thinking. I just love how each character is woven into the story, meaning that by the end of the book, they are all somehow interlinked and have some kind of association with each other, be it in a good or bad way!
Such a brilliant read, with all the usual glitz, glamour, bitchiness, sex and intrigue. I was genuinely surprised at the end....I did not see that climax coming!
