Move over billionaires, I think I have a new favorite Max Monroe novel. Single Dad Seeks Juliet is funny without being in-your-face about it. It’s heartfelt. It’s unexpected. I’m often leery of storylines where the heroine watches the hero romance another woman. They can be painful to read, just as I imagine that situation would be painful to experience in real life. But I trusted Max Monroe not to do me wrong, and I was not disappointed. I loved seeing Holley and Jake’s relationship develop. From their very first meeting to their happily ever after, the chemistry between these two was strong. The side characters in this story are incredibly charming. I imagine everyone wants a daughter like Chloe and a father like Phil. All around, this one was a win for me.

    Working for the local newspaper has its ups and downs. When my editor informs me I’m in charge of the upcoming Bachelor Anonymous Contest, I’m beyond upset. You see, I don’t believe in love anymore. Ever since my fiancé of 11 years cheated on me and got that girl pregnant, I’ve written off men. It’s a good thing I’m not in charge of picking the letter that wins, that dear friends will be done by the readers. Actually when I do read the letter, I do have a Ahw moment. When I do call the winner to give him the good news, I get his teenage daughter, who tells me he’s not home but to meet him at Coronado Beach early the next morning and then proceeds to hang up. Hmmm. Other than his tattoos on his arm, I have no idea what he looks like. I’ll wing it. I don’t encounter anyone else on the beach, until I notice a man in the ocean that looks like he’s drowning. I’m not a good swimmer, but I can’t let someone drown, except I’m wearing a business suit.

    As an ex-Navy Seal I go to the beach every morning to work out in the ocean, when I notice a woman that looks like she’s drowning. As I bring her back to shore, she looks at me and says, “I saved you!”. WTH! Apparently she thought I was drowning instead of exercising and I knew she was drowning. So it seems my 17 year old daughter entered me in this contest where I go on five dates with different women and I don’t have any desire to do this. But I’m really interested in klutzy Hollie, so what have I got to lose.

    This wonderful book is funny and has so much heart. Jake’s daughter Chloe is also a very important part of the book.

    Is there a trope for parents who are set up by their kids? Because i like that trope.

    Chloe is going off to college and is worried about her single dad Jake, being alone. As far as she knows there are no romantic interests and she worries. He's "given" up his life to be her parent. His world revolved around her. And in a year she will be gone off to college with her best friend. So why not enter him into a contest. He won't know unless he's chosen.

    Holley is a mess. She's fresh off of a breakup with her fiance. I mean he cheated and got his assistant pregnant so good riddance to him. So when her boss gives her the task of handling a new article Bachelor Anonymous she's none to please but unemployed isn't the look she's going for.

    I'm pretty sure Jake has never done a bad thing in his life he's absolutely so perfect it hurts. He's a proud poppa. It's been Chloe and him since she was born. He honestly wouldn't have it any other way. So he's completely blindsided and unhappy when he's chosen to the SoCal Tribunes Bachelor Anonymous.

    Holley is tasked with accompanying Jake and his dates for the article. Neither were counting on falling in love. Also, both of them are blind as bats because the chemistry was off the charts for their first meeting. I feel like I could be Holley. Like the mess of the person that she is. She's a complete clutz and I swear the universe is after us both. She absolutely had me dying. This was my first Max Monroe book and I could totally see myself reading more. I think they will be perfect palette cleansers after dark romances.

    I liked how awkward she was, as she navigates his dates with other women as she falls in love with him. So adorable.

    Lots of funny parts, but sweet, as we look at both Jake’s relationship with his daughter and Holley’s relationship with her dad. Father daughter relationships are special!

    A good story with an extra HEA.
