Elizabeth Bailey grew up in Africa with unconventional parents, where she loved reading and drama. On returning to England, she developed her career in acting, theatre directing and finally writing.

Elizabeth's latest venture is The Lady Fan Mystery series, published by Sapere Books. The novels feature amateur sleuth Lady Ottilia Fanshawe and a cast of family members including her husband and champion Lord Francis Fanshawe. She originally published Regency romances with Harlequin Mills & Boon and has many titles in her Brides by Chance Regency Adventures series, now also published by Sapere, as well as standalone Regency and Georgian romances.

Elizabeth also writes edgy women's fiction: Her dual time novel Fly The Wild Echoes, which deals with past lives, and For One More Tomorrow, where the ghost of the real Macbeth returns, protesting his villainous portrayal by Shakespeare. And she has published a romantic suspense novella, Silence of a Stranger.

Elizabeth lives in Sussex, England. She is still an inveterate reader with eclectic tastes and she spends her spare time helping other writers improve their craft.

Every woman’s nightmare becomes a tale of intrigue and suspicion. No sappy ending for this one! Good strong leading lady. Thanks!

I almost put this book down but glad that I continued it. I don't like reading books that are taking place in England. This turned out to be a really good story and I'm glad I finished it.

My my, I couldn't put the book down. It's not usually the type of story I read but I must confess, I really liked it. It was exciting, full of intrigue, suspense and romance. I wish it had been longer. I hated that it came to an end.

Ok I did really love this read, I enjoyed that Bea went from a bad breakup to find a man that she could love. But to find it the way she did was crazy. If you in joy a book that is a wild ride read this book.

This is a book where the cover betrays it.
From the cover, I foolishly was under the illusion that I was delving into a mystery, an out and out thriller, what I hadn’t banked on was being swept away by what turned out to be a reluctant romance.
The story centres on Beatrice and I must say that she was a beautifully written character. One that I could completely engage with.
She thought she had escaped the worst that could happen to her when she eventually managed to get away from her abusive ex and as positive as she was at that moment about her future, it was impossible that she could have ever imagined the path that her future was headed in.
One tiny event, one mistaken tap of a door and she is in the hands of men that will stop at nothing to achieve their own ends.
The chain of events that unfolded in the book were staggering.
The suspense and mystery, the feeling of threat and trepidation were all present as Beatrice is held captive. The plot twisted and turned more than I had anticipated and I was held within its grasp the whole way.
So where did the romance come into play , well Rad is one of the guys involved but he is reluctant to participate in what the others have foisted upon him, he believes that Beatrice is nothing more than a stranded motorist and the last thing he wants is this pretty woman getting wrapped up in what they have going on.
He is attracted to Beatrice and in an odd way she knows it and accepts it despite the fact that he is part of the group keeping her against her will.
The story between the two of them was an evolution, it was brought to life piece by piece, laid out slowly and give credence in as much as it understood that like Rad and Beatrice, I as the reader needed time to come to terms with what was happening, I had to acclimatise myself to what was going on, to understand that good people get caught up in bad things, no matter how much they don’t want too.
But when their situation exploded, I was caught completely unawares and like Beatrice, I was left reeling when Rad’s truth is revealed.
A fantastically well written story that gave the romance time to grow, that gave us characters that wanted normal, wanted love and wanted each other.
Didn’t know what to expect when I started to read this but I know what I had got once I had finished, a super book!

Bea finds herself in a bigger predicament than what she was driving away from. When her car breaks down, she finds herself being held against her will. She just doesn't know if it's by two men or three. When things become dangerous, they all flee from the small cottage she went to for help.

Rad isn't happy when a woman shows up at the cottage. Who is she and what does she want? Rad comes to believe her when she says her car broke down and when they find the car along side the road. Rad finds her attractive but doesn't want her involved with what is happening. This is life or death, not a game.

When everything goes to hell, Bea has a hard time coming to terms with Rad's life. He's married and now he's dead. She will never know what could have been....or what will be.

This is a light romantic mystery with a very different kind of theme than what I have read recently. It kept me guessing and interested and then all of a sudden I was at the end of the book. It seemed to me that this would have been a great first story for a series and I do hope there will be more.
I'm quite happy to recommend this book. Enjoy!

Via Bea the story leads us to a string of suspected identities for Rad, to whom Bea is strongly attracted. Interesting, if you believe love can develop within a few weeks.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Secrets + a Stranger = Romance-?

Oh my, this story surprised me at every turn. Who to trust in the trio of strangers she'd unwittingly found... Or, they'd found her! Deep in the Sussex countryside, someone was in danger. Was it her, Beth, a dancer who'd suddenly left her troupe - for good reasons? Or thoughtful athletic him, Rad? A fascinating story with twists and turns, confusing Beth's guesses about who was evil, who innocent, over and over!! I had to read straight through to the ending... a definite happy-ever-after, eventually. Well done!! Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars I thought it was a thriller, but it ended up as a romance

A nice, well written story, that had the beginnings of a thriller, even the title and cover looked thrillerish, but ended up as a romance. I liked the characters, but personally I am getting a little tired of reading books where love is found at the drop of a hat.
    Recommend to romance lovers.

Loved the story. It still amazes me how writers come up with the stories. I was definitely a romance, but with a thriller kind of story. The writer keeps you interested in the story so that you have no choice but to keep turning the pages. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
