- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2021Who could do any of this complex safari the author takes you on yet thoroughly entrenched in his own rather convoluted recipe for becoming what he calls a standout agency. It seems it was written only for those just off Madison Ave rather than something reachable for the rest of us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book!
I really liked the stand-still versus stand-out concept in the book. That is a great new way to assess the way agencies/consultancies position themselves in their markets. Well done! And by the way, I don’t get the ‘Madison Ave’ review here on Amazon. That’s not really what this book is about at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you're stuck in the rough, this will get you back to the fairway
I smashed my way through Gareth's book over a long weekend; it's well written and very digestible. Don't be put off by the constant use of STANDOUT and STANDSTILL, it isn't quite as repetitive as it may first appear but gives you clear context for the chapter ahead.
Every chapter will resonate with an agency owner who perhaps feels they've lost their way or aren't certain of their current trajectory. It's had a profound impact on where I feel my own agency is heading now with a decision to specialise much more than we currently do.
It's easy to be distracted when running an agency but Gareth's R.O.A.D.M.A.P. framework really does give you a clear route to success. Like most things in agency life, it's now about using said roadmap to go forward and grow!

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant, definitive handbook for creating a successful agency
This is such an important book. Healey has thought deeply and extensively about his own experience building a successful agency. Others have done likewise, but what sets this over and above any other 'how to' guides is its comprehensive, easy to follow set of tools for creating a standout agency, written in compelling, crystal-clear plain English.
It's packed full of great ideas, with insights big and small; a number of sentences deserve a 'print off and stick on the wall' status. There's a relentlessness about the book. Short sharp sentences, simple and direct instructions for focusing and organising how to start and crucially maintain the effort required to create a successful agency.
All agency owners feel at times like they're clawing in the dark for direction and reassurance. This book provides both, and should be on the desk of every owner and agency board member.

5.0 out of 5 stars A roadmap to getting control of your agency
Gareth's hit some golden points throughout this book. As an agency owner (micro <10 staff) that is currently in a period of growth - with the double-edged sword of standing out and keeping my sanity - this has been a godsend.
The points Gareth raises throughout his approach make perfect sense, but the proof is in the implementation. And, yes, there's a lot to get stuck in within Gareth's principles, so it can feel daunting. I certainly felt that way, before I started chipping away at some of the recommendations made.
Since I made those changes, a lot has changed for the better. I feel more focused - with the beginnings of a plan for the next 3-5 years, and importantly, this book has given me more confidence as a business owner. Because I know the direction we're heading in, I have clarity in how I can move it forward.
This book gives you the perfect platform to build your agency and expertly guides you through the process. A few month's ago I didn't think the progress I've made was achievable - give it a try, you won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book there is on this subject.
I wish I'd had this book to hand when I was preparing my agency for sale several years ago. The author has a forensic grasp on what matters and what doesn't matter in digital agency life. He cuts through the usual digibabble nonsense that so many agency types hide behind, and he gets right to the heart of what is important. Although I am no longer involved in day to day agency life, this book took me back to the ups and downs and ins and outs of running an agency. The author has been there and done it, having grown his own agency to the impressive size it was before he sold his shareholding. A great read, well done Mr. Healey.
