I received the ARC of Storm and literally could NOT put it down. Michelle Mankin has a way of playing my emotions like they were the most exquisite instrument. This is a childhood best friend turned lovers story. I knew this was going to be heart wrenching, when in less than 4 chapters I was wanting to tear my heart out. Storm leaving, especially the way he did, hurt. I loved the chemistry between the characters, the way Storm and Cork interact was heartwarming and had me smiling in the midst of the pain and anguish. There is a twist even I didn't see coming, but it fits perfectly and explains so much. The references to other books she has written are well placed. I give this a 2 anxiety pills, 2 glasses of wine, and 1 tissue rating. Love it and I can't wait for more from Michelle!

    Michelle Mankin is a Queen of Rock and Roll authors, well least in my opinion. Storm is a big book 66 chapters, I felt the chapters were perfect and I feel she needed every single one. If anyone read the 12 chapters of Storm in the A Night with a Rockstar Anthology well this is the full story and it's a must read.
    This is second chance romance mixed in the world of surf, sand, sun and rock n roll. Storm aka Journey is the male lead, he is a tatted sexy built like a Greek, soul of a poet plays a mean guitar. Lotus aka Lily is our leading lady, she is sweet, beautiful and has a weakness for surfers and guitarists. Their story starts when they are young, how they meant, learned to grow together and how it all ended. Until 9 years later they will meet again he will recognize her, but he has changed so much even his name. He realizes he has found home but it will take patience to win her over completely. With many obstacles in their way, can their hearts find a way back to eachother. Storm has loved Lotus as fall back as he can remember she is the one person for him. Lotus also loved Storm but when he left her 9 years early he broke her and she is still trying to piece her heart back together. Now her life is complicated, a struggle and she needs something. Well that something will come along in a Body of Greek God with a soul of a poet, he reminds her of someone but she has one night with him to forget her fears, responsibilities and just have fun. . They will have one glorious night that will turn into so much more. Storm gave me all the feels from tears to laughter to ahhhhhh and it's so worth staying up all night to finish the story.
    I don't want to say any more because I hate reading spoilers in reviews. So all I can say is pick up a copy to take this beautiful Journey with Lotus, Storm and just enjoy the ride. Oh the song at the end called "I'm Yours" is so beautiful!! Happy Reading!!

    I love the friends to lovers trope, and after reading the beginnings of Lotus and Storm's story in the My Night with a Rockstar anthology I couldn't wait to get my hands on their whole story. Storm definitely did not disappoint!

    Lotus was heartbroken when Storm left as a teen, both for the loss of her best friend and crush and for the circumstances surrounding his departure. She has never forgotten him and still holds out hope that he may come back into her life 9 years later. Her life is very different and more complicated now thanks to those tragedies alluded to in the blurb, and on the night of her birthday she adds one more heartbreak: finally breaking off her relationship with her rocker boyfriend Saber. Her bestie Sophia is determined to see Lotus cut loose for one night but she is shocked when Lotus actually does just that.

    With the body of a Greek god and colorful ink on display, Journey unexpectedly takes her breath away and unnerves her. There is gentleness beneath his tough demeanor and warnings that he likes his solo life, and she is drawn in from the first moment they meet. One hot night has them both thinking about more but an untimely phone call derails it. And let the roller coaster ride begin!

    Complications abound between Saber's persistence at trying to keep Lotus in his life, Journey's mixed signals, Lotus's unending responsibilities and devotion to her younger brother, and the secret that Journey is keeping despite his intentions and attempts to come clean to her. But in between the bumps and smoldering intensity, there's never a doubt they belong together. I was compelled to continue flipping through the pages with my heart beating double time until I could finally breathe freely... about 75% of the way through the book. I loved that we are given some drama free time to enjoy the relationship and the epilogue was just right. A fan was definitely required several times along the way too!

    As a fan of the Rock Stars, Surf and Second Chances series, I loved how involved Ash, Diesel and so many other familiar faces were in this book! You don't need to read that series to enjoy Storm but I certainly recommend the series if you end up falling for this book.

    It's been awhile since I've read one of Ms Mankin's books and I realized early on what I've been missing. She can write such amazing stories about surfing, music, and love. But don't forget, she always adds in just the right amount angst.

    This book was no different and I loved the premise of the storyline along with the development of these characters. Lotus and Storm were amazing, the Love scenes were off the chart and the angst was just right.

    I wish I could write about the story but I would end up giving away the secrets of the book.

    I recieved this book for Free to Give My True & Honest Review but brought it also due to how long I took to read it, through no fault at all to do with the fantastic emotional best friends. Journey (STORM) & Lotus.
    We're back in Ocean Beach where we met Ash & the Dirty Dogs.
    We first meet them as young kids 9 & 7 at school when Storm comes & protects Lotus. And we see how they are during their school days & we see how their home lives are. Then their lives Change when Storm leaves Ocean Beach before his 16th Birthday 😢 & She hadn't heard from him since & she started dating his older Brother Saber.
    And when she was doing the bar for Ash in LA & she sees a cover guitarist for Black Skulls, Journey & he has to have her. And after their night together Saber calls her even though they're no longer together & we see Journey change his attitude towards her Just Before He wanted to tell her Something which seemed to be quite important to Him.
    But its when he suddenly turns up in OB & will be the new guitarist for the Hardy Brothers group OB Hardy Saber & His younger brother Shield.
    So during his first couple of weeks back in OB things starts to feel at home again ESPECIALLY when he's with Lotus 😍
    Though Journey wants to tell Lotus his secret she tells him to not to tell her, but he can't keep it inside him any more he has to tell someone other than Ash & that's Lotus' younger brother Cork.
    What surprised me was how everyone took the acknowledgement of who Journey is....

    WOW what a great read - you can't help but root for some of the characters, others to speak their truths, some to shut the heck up and others to just follow their heart.

    Both main characters - Storm and Lotus have had some really sad parts in their childhoods; Storms' Dad was a real jerk, being the only one in his family to stand up to him, he is promptly thrown out of the family home and torn away from his best friend, Lotus; she is younger than him and has lost the love and guidance of her mother - but she has her Dad and he is everything to her and her brother, Cork; but all that is just back fodder in the telling of the story of their amazing friendship. They have such common interests, mostly surfing. When Storm leaves town, Lotus is lost. Tragic events just keep on coming for Lotus - can this girl suffer anymore, apparently YES!

    Predicably it all comes together - loved the way their story is told.
