Scottish Werebear: A Dangerous Business Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.6 out of 5 stars 62 ratings

Aidan McMillan is a bear on a mission. Together with a group of like-minded shifters called the Alliance, he's uncovered the existence of one of the most infamous concepts in shifter history/legend: The Sons of Domnall, a secret society of humans sworn to destroy all shapeshifters. One of their cells has popped up in Edinburgh, and the Alliance is set on infiltrating them somehow. Meanwhile, he's also investigating the death of his parents years ago. Everyone says it was an accident, but was it really?

Heidi Blackwood, the daughter of her pack's alpha, has been sent to work with Aidan and the others in order to hunt down the Sons of Domnall and neutralize the threat they pose to wolves all over the world. When they first lay eyes on one another, they know right away: they're meant to be mates. Although Aidan smells unlike any wolf she's ever met, she doesn't yet realize that he's the one thing she shouldn't look for in a mate: a bear, one of the wolves' natural enemies.

Can they stay on task long enough to successfully fight the Sons of Domnall? Or will their complicated feelings for one another throw a spanner in the works before it's all said and done?

This paranormal romance novella is the second in the Scottish Werebear series. Although each part stands on its own and can be heard out of order, you'll get more enjoyment out of them if you listen to them one after the other.

Heidi a wolf shifter was chosen as their packs representative to the Alliance by her pack alpha, who also happened to be her father. She knew it was a great honor, but always thought one of the young males would've been chosen instead of her. *Who could be more reliable than Heidi herself? She'd learned at an early age that if you wanted something done right, you had to do it yourself.(*direct book quote) She had led a pretty sheltered life as the daughter of the packs alpha, but that didn't mean she was a push over. She could stand up for herself and had against many of the males her age within the pack. Now the outside world? That's a whole different scenario, especially when the very first person she comes in contact with is her mate.
Aiden a bear shifter has is own agenda while working with the Alliance, who are hunting the Sons of Domnall, a secret society of humans sworn to destroy all shifters. He agrees with what they stand for, but he needs to find out what happened to his parents. He wasn't keen on the idea of them bringing in someone new, but as soon as he opened the door to her he knew she was his mate. He never thought there'd be anyone out there for him.
What happens when they both find out what the other person is under their skin? Will they allow fate to pull them together or fight it since bears and wolves do not get along? You'll have to read Scottish Werebears: A Dangerous Business to find out, but it'll be worth the time you take to read it. I cannot wait to read Book 3 Scottish Werebears: A Forbidden Love to see what happens next. Each of these novellas are a quick read and could be read as a standalone HEA, but I recommend reading the complete series in order to get the little tidbits of background information on everything. I received an ARC copy via IndieSage in exchange for a blog tour review. Due to sexual content this novel is recommended for readers 17 and older!

It was a good read. It is nice to read short stories too. Aidan and Heidi seem like an unlikely pair. They are different species but somehow they are mates. I am enjoying this series and look forward to the third book.
