Scottish Werebear: A Forbidden Love: Scottish Werebears, Book 3 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.6 out of 5 stars 55 ratings

Alison Campbell's reality is far from ordinary. All her life she's been told that there are things that go bump in the night; dangerous creatures that are half animal, half man. Not only that, she's one of the chosen ones whose job it is to protect humanity from these monsters by rooting them all out. That is why she's trying to get close to some of them, by posing as an informant against her own people. However, the more time she spends with 'the other side,' the less she can continue to believe that they're inherently evil. In fact, she's actually developing feelings for one of them. So, who are the real monsters?

Jamie Abbott, bear shifter and local leader of The Alliance, is hot on the trail of The Sons of Domnall, a secret society of humans out to destroy all of his kind. After an attempt to bring down their Edinburgh cell, he and his team are scrambling to question their prisoners before the Sons inevitably mount a rescue effort. That's when he meets Alison, the mysterious and curvaceous beauty who looks strangely familiar. It's attraction at first sight, but Jamie can't shake the feeling that Alison, the woman his bear has chosen as his mate, is hiding something big.

Before long, the Sons of Domnall will strike back at Jamie and The Alliance. It'll be time for everyone to choose where their loyalties lie: love or family, human or shifter?

This paranormal romance novella is the third in the Scottish Werebears series. Although each part stands on its own and can be heard out of order, listening to them one after the other would provide the best possible experience.

Another re-read, the whole series, in order. So glad I’m doing it, not just to leave a review, but I thourghly enjoyed reading this book the first time, and actually picked up a couple of new things too. Loved the action, and the mate recognition, and all that entails!! This is a book that can be read multiple times and enjoyed each time!!

    A fun read.

Jamie a bear shifter is the leader of their branch of the Alliance, he's trying to break the prisoners of The Sons of Domnall they've captured. While at the same time he cannot sleep and continues to dream of the girl with green eyes he met when he was twelve, the day his world collapsed because his little brother disappeared.
Alison has grown up knowing that all shifters are evil animals and the world would be a better place without them. She's trying to infiltrate the Alliance for her father and The Sons of Domnall. When they bring her in and she sees the Alliance leader Jamie, she realizes all is not what she'd been taught her entire life.
Interesting turn of events in this 3rd story of the Scottish Werebear series, it hooks you in from page one! What happens when the two groups collide? You'll have to read Scottish Werebears: A Forbidden Love to find out, but it'll be worth the time you take to read it! I can't wait to read Book 4 Scottish Werebear: A New Beginning to find out what happens next! Each of these novellas are a quick read and could be read as a standalone HEA, but I recommend reading the complete series in order to get the little tidbits of background information on everything. I received an ARC copy via IndieSage in exchange for a blog tour review. Due to sexual content this novel is recommended for readers 17 and older!

This part of the series fills in a few blanks from Jamie past with a lead to his long lost family member. Things come to a head with The Sons of Domnall and Alliance as they go head to head bring back one of their own. Way more is lost then lives leave family torn in to. Alison is about to get some home truths that won’t settle to well with a few and leaves her life up in the air pulled in to different direction she is going to have to make some very tough decisions. In this book you find out what Jamie is hiding from his fellow Alliance’s. He has had some trying times which leave him with many sleepless nights. He Knows Alison is hiding something as well as who she really is but it seem he is hiding something as well.

Mr. Blackthorne’s narration was very good with interesting character voices that blends well with the story. His male voices are just as good as his female’s one. You always know who is talking and what their emotions are. There was one place that I could tell the volume changed just enough that you could tell if you were listening as well as one place where he repeats a few words .I am guessing these two places are when he takes a break. Other than that the volume and the rest of the audio was very even and no breaks were taken that I could tell. There are no background noises this is a very clear and clean audio. Mr. Blackthorne has a very nice voice his normal voice is just as great as his characters ones. I have to say for a man he does a very lovely female voice. His voice did pull me in making me feel comfortable and right at home. The author does an outstanding job with the passionate scenes really giving the first night of love true emotions. I haven’t had the pleasure of listening to his work but to look forward to listening to more of it.

I enjoyed getting to know past characters better and seeing how things were going for them. Alison and Jamie’s story is very touching and at the same time heartbreaking. I am looking forward to the next book in this series to find out just how Mattie turned out. Even though so much as been gained so much has been lost. So many people pulling on wives tales no one knowing just what the truth is makes you wonder just what The Sons of Domnall is basing their information on.

This was another very fast listen with some great story lines and plot. The characters you can relate to with a believable story line. There is a little mystery and a little action as the two groups go head to head more than once making you hold your breath wondering who will end up on top if any of them will. The ending is very touching but at the same time very heartbreaking.

Jamie at 12 yrs old was ready to shift to his bear but it would not happen until he turned 13. While at the beach one day with his younger brother, he goes off and meets a young girl and for the life of him, he has not forgotten her. However, Jamie also has no idea what happened to his younger brother.

Jamie is the leader with the Alliance the same one Aidan works for and the ones who are trying to protect other shifters from those god-forsaken humans who keep capturing and killing shifters.
Jamie has a good life and all the finer things in life but he is missing something nothing feels like home to him. What has him so riled up? Could it be his past of losing his brother? Or the girl who had his attention when his brother was taken?

Alison is a human and she is about to be interrogated by Jamie.
Alison is withholding but why? Can she tell Jamie her father has been taken?
Will Jamie figure out why Alison is really there? Will Alison give up their headquarters?
When Jamie meets Alison and they shake well lets just say surprise is in store for these two.
We get a small cliffhanger, which makes us want to read the next book even more

Loved this next book in this really good were bear series!! Grab your copy and get reading

I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review.

I really love this series. In addition to my personal requirements of faithfulness and steamy, there is a sense of family (in a positive way as well) even though Jamie is not related to the brother in the second book. None of these stories have one boring word in them. It also helps that I love Scotland specifically Edinburgh. Do not miss this tale between Alison and Jamie. Then make sure that you have read the stories leading up to it. They are all standalones yet connected.
