Still Waters (Sophie Green Mysteries Book 4) Kindle Edition
It's a week before Christmas. Sophie is out of work, out of love and out of her depth–literally.
Stuck in Cornwall on the holiday from hell with her ex-boyfriend, her boyfriend's ex, and two intimidating colleagues. If that's not enough, Sophie's got her hands full trying to prevent her best friend's perfect engagement from blowing up in her face.
When a corpse turns up in the local harbor it's the perfect distraction...at least until someone tries to add Sophie to the body count.
Tangled love, tangled lives, tangled clues. Now there's a holiday menu Sophie can't resist.
This book has been revised and updated from the original 2008 version.
Warning: This title contains bad language, bad behavior and bad puns. There are scenes of violence, gore, and unashamed sentimentality.

About the author

I was born in the 1980s in Yorkshire and live in Essex, where I belong to a small pride of cats. I have a second cousin who made the Guinness Book of Records for brewing the world's strongest beer, and I once ran over myself with a Segway scooter. These two things are in no way related. I've worked in an airport, a lab, and various shops, but much prefer writing because me and mornings are definitely not the best of friends.
I sold my first book in 2005 and since then have published many award-winning paranormal and contemporary romances and light-hearted mysteries, including the popular Sophie Green series. My sci-fi action romance Max Seventeen won the Paranormal Romantic Novel of the Year from the Romantic Novelists Association in 2017. Under the pen name Cat Marsters I also had a successful career in erotic romance, winning an Epic award in 2010.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2014This book had quite a bit more action in it than some of the others and was much more intriguing to me. I loved the inclusion of 2, most likely, bisexual characters, but didn't particularly like the way it was "executed, no pun intended. You'll understand what I mean when you read the book. I won't bore you with a plot summary as I know other reviewers are fond of doing that. I appreciate that this book had chapter demarcations. Chapter demarcations make it so much easier to see how close you are to the end of a chapter and to find a stopping place when you need to do so. If you liked the previous books in the series, I think you should give this one a shot because I don't think you'll be disappointed. Have at it! I can't wait to read the next one. I really hope this series continues beyond the 5th book.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2011The Sophie Green Series is for fans of comedic mystery with a side of romance. Sophie is the UK's Stephanie Plum. This series was fast paced and entertaining. More chick lit, though, than hard-boiled mystery. Sophie is a lovable, quirky character who finds herself in situations that range from hilarious to downright dangerous. I'm assuming this will be the last book in the series, but I certainly would buy more if Ms. Johnson chose to continue. Thanks for the laughs, Kate!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2009Got this as a Kindle freebie so I haven't read the earlier books in the series. I think I would have enjoyed it more knowing some of the history, but even without the backstory I found the characters interesting and funny. Sophie made me laugh out loud a few times, and I really enjoyed the way the author would make jokes with the reader. Fun story, may have to go back and read the first three!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 31, 2010I enjoyed this equally as much as the other novels in the series. Sophie's and Luke's relationship played a primary role in this book. The mystery plot, however, was a litte predictable. I read it in less than 24 hours. Can't wait for Book 5!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2010Kate Johnson, what happened? Again!
This is the fourth book in the Sophie Green series (after I Spy, Ugley Business and A is for Apple) and I was disappointed again. Much like in A is for Apple, the pace was great, the story was engaging and then the ending. I felt that the motive was again ridiculous. I can't imagine killing someone for that! The Sophie/Luke drama took front seat in this book, which was annoying in parts as well, however I didn't roll my eyes at Sophie as many times as I did in A is for Apple. It's a quick read, fast paced, entertaining, with a bit of fun raunchiness. I might try the fifth book if there is one because I really enjoyed the first two.
You can read this as a stand alone book even though it's part of a series. It does involve the same characters and some of the storyline continues from book to book.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2011Still waters is a great book. Christmas holiday can be very boring but not with Sophie. Again, she gets herself in some kind of trouble. I think she has 9 lives. Find out what happened with Luke and Sophie on a xmas trip. There are a few surprise in this one. Johnson is starting to developpe her charaters. Must read chick lit.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2015This one was much better than the last.I could love and admire Sophie's character once again, Can't wait for the next in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2011Better than A is for Apple, Sophie Green mysteries #3. Story is a bit slow at first but Kate Johnson keeps you guessing all the way. I thought she jumped around a bit towards the end, kind of like trying to wrap up the story very quickly, but it was ok. Anything for Sophie and Luke!

3.0 out of 5 stars Still Waters
It was OK but not as good as Janet Evanovich with the Stephanie Plum books. Would not buy any more of this author's work. Not as funny and characters a bit wet.
