I thought I had already written a review for this book. I usually like to leave a review for books I truly enjoyed and this is definitely one of them. Samantha Young is one of my usual go to authors but I didn’t know she also wrote under S Young needless to say when I ran into this book I borrowed it immediately, then bought it.

First, this is not my usual genre but I do enjoy it when I need to get diverse from the usual. This book was amazing! It had me from the beginning. I’m Going to try not to give anything away because part of the mystery was what Thea was. She was a freaking hero! It’s that simple. She could have gotten away with so much, especially since all the pain she endured in captivity after her parents perished. But she heeded her parents teachings which is what made her a great person regardless of her abilities. The story of how she was able to escape and how she had to live her life because her captor continued his search for her.

Enters Conall, who was contracted to find Thea and return her to her captor in exchange for saving his sister who was dying of an illness with no cure. At first Thea proved to be a challenge for Conall since he underestimated her abilities. Thea’s captor also lied to Conall about what Thea had done. Eventually Conall breaks Thea down for her to trust him and she tells him the truth. Worse she wears the evidence.

Characters as well as supporting cast are well written and easily relatable. This enhance the story to a new level including a mystery woman who mysteriously appears in Thea’s life to steer her in the right direction. I’m looking forward to reading the next two books in the series. Hoping to find out who the mystery woman was.

Highly recommended, you won’t regret it!

I'm such a big fan of Samantha Young in all her writing, she knows romance and she knows her audience. I love her world building in this paranormal romance series, its complex, original and gives a whole know ideal to how the paranormal in the world were created.

War of Hearts follows Thea who has never known what she is but that she is dangerous. Living everyday knowing she can only stay in one place for so long. Until a target is put on her head, she is marked as a murderer and Conall MacLennan, the Alpha and Chief of Clan MacLennan is asked to hunt her down. Conall is approached by a mysterious man who wants Thea and he will give Conall a cure for his ailing sister if he can get to Thea. But when Thea and Connal meet, the truth comes out and Conall and thea have to work together to stop everyone else who wants Thea for other reasons.

This was such a suspenseful great story, I'm a big paranormal romance fan and this hit the spot I needed to change from contemporary romance. I needed something different have S. Young delivered. These characters have a lot of baggage, especially Thea, their connection is off the chart and the romance is too hot for words. The intricate history behind what Thea is, just gets its bearings as the future books will delve into it more and more with each person connected to what Thea is. I can wait for the next installment and even more so maybe see how these two are doing after this book ended.

Not having read this author before, I was very pleasantly surprised with this book. The characters were engaging and, as a reader, you begin to feel for them and root for them throughout the book. Good start on world building with a slightly different premise than the usual PNR. There were a few parts that lingered a little too long but, all in all, I was glad to read to the end to find the characters settled and happy. There were a few pretty obvious conclusions, but that fact doesn't distract from a good read. I'm always surprised at the rating that some readers give some books so I like to give some information to use as a barometer for my ratings. I give this books 3 stars, which to me means a good book and a good author with a lot of potential; one that I will probably seek out again. Two of my favorite authors, Nalini Singh and C. L. Wilson, are 5 star authors with almost always 5 star books... Five stars mean totally awesome! Five star authors are an 'always buy' with books that I will read over and over. Four stars are usually reserved for authors that are 5 stars, where I felt a particular book might not be up to par with most of their other ones. Four stars are also for really good books, with engaging, well-thought-out stories where I know I'm definitely going to continue the series. So, this one is 3 stars for an engaging story with interesting characters and world building and good potential where I know I am going to read at least the next one in the series.

Dieser Roman spielt im heutigen Irland, in dem Werwölfe, Vampire und Hexen unter den Menschen leben. Wir treffen auf Conall MacLennan, Alpha und damit Anführer des letzten Werwolfrudels in Schottland, der kurz davor steht, die Position seines Rudels weiter zu festigen, in dem er sich mit der Tochter eines der größten amerikanischen Werwolfrudel verlobt. Doch während des ersten Kennenlernens wird dieses durch einen Menschen gestört, der Conall ein Angebot macht, dass seine Pläne für die bevorstehende Heirat und Verbrüderung mit dem amerikanischen Werwolfrudel in den Hintergrund rücken lässt: Der Geschäftsmann Ashforth bittet Conall, Thea Quinn zu finden, die ebenfalls übernatürliche Fähigkeiten besitzt und seit sechs Jahren vor ihm auf der Flucht ist. Wow, ich muss sagen, Samantha Young enttäuscht mich wirklich nie. Obwohl ich eigentlich kein Fan des paranormalen Genres bin, schafft sie es wirklich meisterlich, diese Welt zu erschaffen und sie zum Leben zu erwecken. Ihre bildhafte Erzählweise und die vielschichtigen Charaktere lassen einen völlig in diese Welt abtauchen, man fiebert und leidet mit den Charakteren und wird voll in den Bann der Geschichte gezogen.
Die weibliche Hauptrolle, Thea, erinnert mich teilweise in ihren Charaktereigenschaften an einen jungen Jamie Fraser (in weiblich und übernatürlich), so unglaublich (willens)stark, heißblütig und teilweise hitzköpfig wie sie ist. Auch die Rückblenden, bei denen Thea mehr über ihre Herkunft und ihre Fähigkeiten erfährt, sind unglaublich und mit viel Liebe zum Detail beschrieben und ausgearbeitet. Und ihr männliches Pendant, Conall, ist ein Alpha wie er im Buche steht, dabei aber unglaublich loyal und trotz seiner offensichtlichen animalischen Wesenszüge auch sehr einfühlsam, verlässt er sich doch in vielen Dingen ganz auf seine Instinkte und Gefühle. Die einzigartige Verbindung zwischen Thea und Conall, wie sie langsam Vertrauen zueinander aufbauen und ihre Verbundenheit zu spüren, die sie sich nicht eingestehen wollen, ist absolut fesselnd beschrieben. Und auch wenn hier zwei sehr starke, stolze Charaktere aufeinander prallen, ergänzen sich beide absolut perfekt!
Ich kann das Buch jedem empfehlen, der nicht nur die klassische Romanze, sondern auch eine spannende, vielschichtige Geschichte zu schätzen weiß. Und ich wäre begeistert, wenn das nicht der letzte Ausflug in diese Welt bleibt und Samantha sich noch eine Fortsetzung überlegt. Volle 5 Sterne.

I am a big fan of the "On Dublin Street" series and I am glad she did not disappoint with this novel. I loved that it was fast paced and kept the reader engaged. I also love that it wasn't predictable, aside from the obvious. How can you go wrong with a story about a Scotsman and travel throughout Europe. If you like paranormal stories, this is the one for you!
