Strike a Chord (Replay Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 823 ratings

Fake dating my high school crush, what could possibly go wrong?

Music is my life, my band is my heart and soul, and it’s all falling apart before my eyes.

Paris is a gay icon, my best friend’s twin brother, and the crush I never quite got over. And as we both watch our careers burn down around us, we hatch a desperate plan to stay relevant. And if we have a little fun along the way, where’s the harm in that?

The band is spiraling, his football career is going up in flames, and the more the world falls down around us, the easier it is to get lost in each other.

But are stolen moments during our own busy schedules and hurried kisses hidden behind social media posts the basis for a real relationship, or is this just another thing that’s going to turn to dust in our hands?

**Strike a Chord is the fourth and final book in the Replay series. This series can be read in any order.

K.M. Neuhold is a complete romance junkie. bisexual and polyamorous, she often describes herself as being in love with love. She loves to write stories full of bearded, cinnamon roll men who get super swoony HEAs. Her philosophy is there’s so much angst and sadness for LGBT characters in media, all she wants is to give them the happiest happily ever afters she can with little angst, tons of humor, and SO MUCH STEAM. K.M. fully admits to her tendencies of making sure every side character has a full backstory that will likely always lead to every book turning into a series or spin-off. When she's not writing she's a lion tamer, an astronaut, and a superhero...just kidding, she's likely watching Netflix and snuggling with her huskies while her amazing husband brings her coffee.

Amazing Book
Another great book in the Replay Series. The way the author portrays these guys in the rock band is amazing, each book is about a different member and the troubles they face being famous. This book is Benji and Paris’s story both in love with each other to admit as their careers seem to come first.

    Benji and Paris

This was a good series. Book 2 is still my favorite and the best one out of the four. Definitely would recommend reading.

The final book of the Replay series has a little different feel than the first three. There’s not as much past trauma in this one, and the MC’s aren’t past lovers looking to rekindle romance. This is a slow build, with Benji and Paris going from old-but-distant friends with crushes to fake dating to love. This book is more about new beginnings and the courage to move on. The love is no less sweet and the spice is no less spicy, though. I know it says the books can be read in any order but I think they will read so much better if you start at the beginning. Each book has a little more of a hint as to what happens to Downward Spiral and by the time you get to this one, you can’t wait to find out what happens next. Five stars on this whole series, Ms Neuhold. Another one knocked out of the park, and a happy sigh from this happy reader. Now, how about Cooper’s book??

One of the reasons why KM is at the top of my “read every book they write” list is because she is absolutely brilliant at writing characters and creating a believable relationship between all of them. This one in particular was so incredibly sweet because you could feel the love from the beginning. We as a reader already know it’s there, and it’s a breath of fresh air to not have to be dragged through an angst ridden journey to watch them figure it out. It was tender, and sexy, and it ended the story of the band perfectly. I was sad to say goodbye to these boys.

Bengi finally gets his book. The good one in the band. He met Paris when he was 13 and were barely friends. Paris’ twin brother London brings them together again and it’s slow going with them. They live in different states and both are busy trying to rebuild their lives. They get their HEA but it’s bumpy getting there.

It feels like I’ve waited forever for Benji’s story, and it didn’t disappoint. It was beautiful to see him truly open up. He’s always been the strong one who has his act together, but inside he’s torn and lost. Seeing him with his best friend London, and how they interact, along with his interactions with Paris was just breathtaking. Reading about how Paris is so unsure of the future, and watching him trying to figure out what he truly wants was gripping. This book truly wrapped up the Replay series in a perfect bow. I loved it all.

I think I liked the last one a little more but still really enjoyed this one. Slightly different take on ‘brother’s best friend’ trope, really refreshing. Loved how supportive London was of everything. Also perfect amount of miscommunication, didn’t get too annoying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it - great wrap up to the series!
Reviewed in Australia on May 16, 2019
What a fantastic wrap up to the series! I was a little sceptical about Benji's story given the BDSM that was hinted at in book 3 for him (especially after how much kink was in book 3 too!), so was pleasantly surprised that it was a throw away line by Benji, and that there was zero kink in this book (aside from the references to Jude and his men).

I loved Paris and Benji's story - it was well written, and their history just added to the depth of their connection. Prior to reading this book I honestly thought that this was going to be about London given the name drops in the other books, so to have it about his identical twin, Paris, who Benji has known as long as London, was a nice twist. I loved that London was still a main character, and the flashbacks to their teen years that showed the dynamic between the 3 of them.

Their story was easy and beautiful, with a few uncertainties and hardships for them - both of them having to deal with the uncertainty in their futures as the only career either of them has known seems to be coming to an end. They were able to confide in each other without any fear of judgement, and found in each other someone who could empathise with what they were going through.

The wrap up of the series at the end of the book was well written and not rushed. It was a satisfying resolution for all characters, and I'm hopeful that the other bands who are introduced get their own series. I would love to know what was going on with Cooper's band!

Great series - definitely one I would recommend.
